This RN finally landed a sales job....

    Posted: 07 Jul 2019 09:25 AM PDT

...after 8 months. Many interviews, made it to final the round on a few, then the perfect job for me appeared. Used all I learned from my past rejections and fought my ass off for this one, and got it.

It's a great fit for me and for the company. I must add, as difficult as it was landing a sales role, the process was truly a blast...with every twist and turn it just became more fun and a challenge I knew I could beat. Can't wait to get started.

Now I just have to apply the same determination and willingness to accept criticism and direction to the role.

Thank you for all of you Medical sales folks out there who gave me valuable advice.

    Cheers!

I'm the founder, would i be better off selling the product myself, or hiring a salesman?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2019 09:19 AM PDT

    So a bit of context:

I'm a social person. Im a likeable person. Its part of the reason I got to where i am today. I run a small marketing agency and I am a decent salesman.

But, i understand that sales is an art, one im definitely no professional at. In the end of the day, I'm a marketer who learned how to sell himself, on his own.

Should i continue to sell my service to my leads on my own, or should i get a salesman?

The crux of this is I understand the service better than anybody, so i can answer any technical question with 100% confidence, but I'm sure i could hire a salesman thats better than me, however he wouldnt have the same knowledge.

Why don't salespeople know how to demo software?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2019 06:53 AM PDT

I'm a B2B SaaS founder trying to hire salespeople in fintech. I'm interviewing a number of pretty "successful" salespeople, yet haven't found one person that knows how to demo despite that being a part of their job. This applies to anyone demoing in my niche. Here's what I've found after nearly 25 interviews. These salespeople generally:

-Lead with a demo in the sales process. This is contra to best practices as it is more likely to not know customer pain points.

-Demo for too long. The majority of applicants demo for ~1 hour.

-Demo nearly the same set of features regardless of customer.

    -Lack next steps.

    -Have no formal demo training.

I'm pretty surprised by the lack of training and wondering if it's just my market. Did you receive formal demo training? If not, any resources you would recommend?

    VR Software Sales Interview

    Posted: 07 Jul 2019 02:58 AM PDT

    Hi all!

I have an interview lined up for a sales position at a VR software startup. Their customer base is primarily construction, and oil & gas. I've had an interview already where they took me through a demo, the software they have developed is very impressive.

For interview 2, they want to have a business level discussion on VR and get my thoughts on the market.

I have some knowledge and I am reading up on it at the moment, it would be really useful to get some more information on the market from someone selling in the VR space at the moment. Anyone working this field at the moment that could give some advice?

    Thanks!

Sales newbie for LA Fitness Signature club

    Posted: 07 Jul 2019 11:16 AM PDT

So I do membership sales. In fact this is my first ever sales job. Sure I've sold things in the past, but never something with quite as much of a time and money commitment as this. So I'm here for some advice or maybe even links to some guides. I'd say my problem areas are making people comfortable with me and the decision they're about to make. Suggestions?

    Medical Sales Interview

    Posted: 07 Jul 2019 04:39 AM PDT

I've been out of medical sales for 5 years. My former employer was unusually casual for a medical device company. I actually interviewed in scrubs because the regional manager wanted to see me working in the OR. I have an interview with one of the largest and most well known companies. Is a black suit acceptable or is it too formal? What do you suggest?

Hiring an external company for SAAS cold calling

    Posted: 07 Jul 2019 10:03 AM PDT

Has anybody had any success hiring an external company for their cold calling/lead generation?

I'm thinking the lack of knowledge of the product may cause an issue, but maybe not if it's just the initial contact?

    Thanks!

Sophomore in College, Should I Pursue a Sales Career?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2019 08:40 AM PDT

I am a sophomore in college, majoring in Accounting. I recently learned that Accounting offers little work life balance, and drastically low pay. I recently went to a interview for an inbound sales position at Comcast, and people were making 60k-100k a year. I'm only 17, and I'm wondering why the hell would I become an Accountant and work for 5-6 years to make 100k; when I can earn six figures now? I want to finish school, so my question is, what do I major in? & What jobs do I work while in college to start in the sales career? I was thinking, working cell phone sales part time.

I'm an SDR who just moved to a new city, I'm about done with ramp up, but my base is around low 40s but no one is making above 1000 in commission a month. My question is that typical for an SDR role?

    Bringing on independent contractors

    Posted: 06 Jul 2019 11:56 PM PDT

I'm reaching out to see anyone's experience with bringing on new sales people when you're still fresh with launching a product. I've been selling my monthly services to companies as a benefit for them and their employees. I'm still capable of doing a lot more on my own, but I'm wondering what I could achieve with another sales rep helping bring new accounts on.

    Any thoughts?

P.s I do device protection plans and repairs for individuals, families, and businesses.

For those of you using HubSpot, how do you track partial deal payments?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2019 06:55 AM PDT

I've been told by the chat specialists that the only way to track it is to create a new deal. Is there an easier workaround?

    What solution do you use?

Especially going from, say, one company then leaving to that companies competitor, will you discuss past success?

My past employer had NDA's in place and some clients didnt want their logo attached to us.

SaaS Sales Reps - Do closing techniques work?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2019 07:20 PM PDT

I go back and forth on this one as I have had good experience personally with traditional close techniques and some that didn't go so well.

I've read that the longer the sales cycle and bigger the sale typically the Always Be Closing mantra does more harm than good. It's only in the smaller, one-meeting close deals that this works. But as soon as you get to bigger purchases like software it doesn't work effectively.

I'm wondering if other software reps feel that way and how people generally help push deals across the finish line.

As the title states, I'm looking for some tips for finding solid, legitimate AE positions. SaaS industry interests me, but I'm open to any industry. No degree, but I do have solid sales experience.
