Wall Street Hasn't Been This Pessimistic on Apple in Decades Posted: 08 Jul 2019 08:06 AM PDT Rosenblatt Securities downgraded the company to sell on Monday, bringing the total number of bearish analysts up to five, among the 57 ratings tracked by Bloomberg. It's the highest number of sell ratings the iPhone maker has had since at least 1997, according to historical data compiled by Bloomberg. [link] [comments] |
Significant Insider Trading Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 08 Jul 2019 11:16 AM PDT This is a list of the top 20 companies that experienced the largest change in insider shares in the last seven (7) days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases. All trades that are marked as part of a 10b5 plan are excluded from this report. Largest Insider Buying (Last 7 Days)Largest Insider Selling (Last 7 Days)Count column is number of transactions. Research: What to do and focus on when Evaluating Companies Posted: 08 Jul 2019 02:50 PM PDT Hello /r/stockmarket ! It was a while since I did a write-up but I decided to post this as I have seen a lot of people on all the financial subreddits ask questions like these: "How do I know which stock to invest in?" "Which of $XX and $YY would be best to buy?" "How do I valuate stocks?" Well, its a complicated question. The first thing to remember is that you are buying stocks, which is not a just text on a screen. A stock is a share of a business, a fraction of an organisation that aims to make money. So really, when you ask how to set an value on a stock, you are asking how to set a value on a group of people with assets and liabilities, trying to make money. WHICH IS COMPLEX! And very much subjective. So each person who invests get to make their own decisions on how much research has to be done. It is very standard within the industry to not buy shares of a company without minimum 100 hours of research on that specific company. The more information you have, the more sure you can be of your decision. Most people here of course, do not spend 100 hours. But that begs the question; How much time should you spend? Well, until you are satisfied. I have crafted a list 100% for my own use, which I have used roughly for 2 years now. To many people execute on emotion, even if they think they base it on research. They research for a while, decide they like the company and then buy. Their research is analytical but their decision making when they are pleased with the information found and conclusions drawn is EMOTIONAL! Therefore, I crafted this list to bullsh!t check myself, and force me to be analytical. 7 Steps with 5 to 9 checkboxes in the form of questions to assure myself of perfect analysis, and to prevent emotional calls. It is way to simple to bypass your own barriers by looking at a company like Apple and say "They are tried and true, I don't need to know more" after 30 minutes of staring at their latest conference call transcript. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ **Checklist:** https://docs.google.com/document/d/1foggkvlxu2Nxq-apPfG2d51FCdhqPjrkwUVEjPtuOEY/edit?usp=sharing _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Keep in mind that this is my own checklist of what I deem important. It is aimed to cover all bases that might potentially be forgotten or bypassed by myself. If something obvious is missing, it is most likely because I'd never forget or bypass learning about it (such as share count or price). If you are a fan of this style of checklist, I recommend reading the book Checklist Manifesto, which gave me the inspiration for this checklist long ago. I hope it is of use, and I would love feedback if anyone have any ideas for improvement as I am here to do just that. Improve. [link] [comments] |

Wix.com (WIX) Analysis: Future Growth Potential and Understanding Their Business Model Posted: 08 Jul 2019 11:24 AM PDT Website builders like Squarespace, Weebly and Wix have become a popular way of designing websites. Its easy to use website building tools allow users to easily create a professional looking website with little to no experience. But why are website builders like Wix.com becoming such a popular choice even among expert website developers? For beginners, Wix Editor is an easy to use tool that allows you to design your website exactly how you want it using drag and drop tools. There's also Wix ADI which is an artificial intelligence that designs the site for you based on knowledge it gathers of what you like. For developers, Wix offers a product called Wix Code which gives you full control over your website's functionality with Javascript and Wix Code APIs. Important Terms Registered User: Created an account, for free User Cohort: Aggregation of users added in given time period Premium Subscription: A package purchased by a user; a single user can purchase more than one subscription Cohorts Cohorts are referred to as a subset of users, categorized by acquisition date. It allows companies to analyze important subscriber metrics like churn, which is when a subscriber ends their paid subscription with a company. TROI (Time to Return On (Marketing) Investment) TROI can be found by this formula: Revenue gained per Subscriber / Cost to acquire each Subscriber How does TROI tie into Cohorts? Say your first month of business you gain 100 registered users with 10 of these users paying for a premium subscription. Next month you gain 200 more registered users with 20 of these users paying for premium as well as 10 more of the users from last month converting to premium. Each month your goal is to:
Now say you invest $100 in marketing and in return gain $10 in revenue from subscribers. Overtime your revenue from subscribers will continue to increase as more people continue to pay their subscription or convert to premium. So that initial marketing investment will continuously increase revenue overtime. So cohorts are important because they are a driving source of future revenue growth. You want last month's registered users to convert to premium and premium users to continue paying for their subscription. Wix Subscriber Growth
What makes Wix stand out New Products: Improving and creating new products like Wix Ascend and Turbo create opportunity to expand their user base and convert users to premium subscriptions. Global Penetration: Continued penetration into the company's geographic area of operations will drive revenue growth into the future. Brand: Wix.com is the strongest brand in the industry with over 4 million average monthly searches from Jan-Mar 2018 Partnerships: Partnerships with the NY Yankees and Manchester City FC are a great way to reach new audiences in an engaging way Acquisitions: DeviantArt, the largest online art gallery and community, was acquired by Wix in February of 2017 E-Commerce: Massive growth in e-commerce and transition to mobile sales will give Wix significant long term opportunities with global e-commerce expecting $5T by 2021, according to eMarketer [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jul 2019 07:24 AM PDT Hi, I've heard a lot about stocks that if you've held them for a certain length of time you get better yield. How and why does this happen? As much info as possible would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Semi long term investing, is X3 a good option? Posted: 08 Jul 2019 03:07 PM PDT Last week I finally paid off my car and zeroed out my credit card debt so I decided it is time to invest larger amounts for longer term. For the past few years I have been playing around with the stock market, but all of it was with smaller figures (never had a portfolio above $3,000, never held a stock longer than 6 months). My plan right is now to take X amount of every paycheck I get and simply add it to my portfolio by buying the exact same index as before. My initial plan was to pick the X3 S&P and Nasdaq (SPXL and TQQQ) and just buy extra stocks every months. It sounds like it has the benefit of earning decently, while not adding thousands of dollars every months. My main concern is that I can be seriously mistaken and that plan is actually terrible. I understand that nothing is certain, but there are risks that are unnecessary to take with long term investments, so I am trying to avoid them. When I say long term, I am talking about probably no more than 5 years. I will probably leave some of the money after I take it out, but the main purpose for this money is to save up for a house. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
I don't know what the broker does Posted: 08 Jul 2019 11:20 AM PDT There's some cash associated with a stock portfolio I inherited. Everytime I try to access it online, I can't because it says "not set up for trading" and then I call my broker's assistant and ask her to set it up and she always says she'll just do the transfer for me while she sets it up. But it doesn't get set up. And then I started wondering, because every time I've sold some of my holdings, I just figure out what I want to sell and I tell him to sell it. Last time, I sold like a $10,000 holding and he got like $800. If I get the online thing set up, does that mean that I can bypass him? [link] [comments] |

Question from a newer option trader Posted: 08 Jul 2019 02:00 PM PDT Alright, so new to options here, so here's a question I'm looking at selling vertical spreads for DAL 8/2 62C's, with the 2nd leg of my trade being DAL 8/2 63C. The probability of this option landing below the strike price, gaining me profit is 92.27% (According to thinkorswim, which I don't know how this is calculated though) So lets say 92 times out 100 I make my $27 per contract, (27 x 92 = 2482) While 8 times I loose my maximum loss (73x8 = 584) Is this right? This seems off, as I doubt odds could be this in my favor. Or not haha. Any help's appropriated :) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Jul 2019 01:40 PM PDT Hi people, I was thinking that I would like to invest in hearing for the future. Hearing aids, ear surgery, hearing assistance etc. As more people are working or surrounded by loud environments or listening to music with loud headphones, I can see people facing damage at earlier ages. Has anyone else felt this way or already invested in this area? What are some companies that are leading these areas or companies coming up with some hopeful ideas. [link] [comments] |
Significant Activist Hedge Fund Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 08 Jul 2019 11:16 AM PDT These are the latest Schedule 13D forms filed by activist investors in the last 7 days. Activist investors are investors that make an investment with the intention of influencing management in some way. There is evidence that following activist investors into investments can generate excess returns. Schedule 13G forms, in contrast, are filed by significant investors with no intention of influencing management (such as Index funds). There is always a lot of interest in insider trades, but what a lot of people probably don't realize is that hedge fund activity is probably more predictive of future returns than insider activity. The reason is that hedge funds (a) have large research budgets, and (b) have a choice where to put their money. In contract, insiders have no choice where to put their money, but only when to time their transactions. New FilingsThis table lists new 13D filings in the last week. A new filing does not necessarily indicate a new position, as investors frequently accumulate in advance before reaching the filing threshold. Amended FilingsThis table lists amended filings in the last week, and is useful for monitoring changes in existing investments or when a fund closes a position. I have eliminated all filings with less than a 5% change in ownership. Source: Fintel.io/activists Fintel.io/hfh [link] [comments] |
