Where do you find your app developer?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2019 11:42 PM PDT

I'll keep it short. I have an idea for an app but have minimal coding skills and would need to find a trusted coder/developer to partner with. I've seen the websites that offer app development but would prefer a partner since it's somewhat complex.

Do you call your friend that's a coder and ask them or try to find a guy without handing out free startup ideas?

Thank you for the help! Sorry if I said something wrong

MVP, do you show incomplete features or not?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2019 09:58 AM PDT

My startup is due to release our first official product after running two public betas

From the betas we have really consolidated our offerings to those that had the most impact to reduce overheads and room for issues.

I'm a sucker for feature creep and I'm being very strict with myself now for the first launch however, what I have included is dialogue boxes and false buttons essentially a user will click to do something and receive 'this feature is currently under development, give us a nudge if you want to speed it up' which we will track and use to prioritise Dev workloads.

The app is a paid service and what I don't want to do is have users thinking they are paying for an incomplete app, but at the same time I want them to see the potential for the app

Does anyone have any experiences and advice in this space - unsure where I should remove any of these areas and leave it as a very simple app.

    It's either

    • an app that tells you where your data is around the world and notifies you of any breaches or hacks

    OR

    • an app that does the above but also allows you to view the organisations who hold your information and let you control your marketing preferences and see the risk of the organisation, we you delve into the feature you receive the dialogue box

    Thanks in advance

No idea where to start - Game developing.

    Posted: 05 Jun 2019 09:48 AM PDT

    Hi!

So i'm gonna keep this short, if you have any questions at the end - just ask and i'll answer! :)

I have zero experience with coding, 3d builder and level designing, but I do have great ideas and almost a fully written story for a game that i'd love to start developing.

My question is this - where should i even begin? Who should i turn to with this idea to be able to make the game a reality?

If you weren't technical, would you pursue CS education to equip yourself with the technical skills to build your own startup?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2019 09:38 AM PDT

    Hi guys!

Some of us are technical and some of us aren't. However, I think the following question is still relevant to both groups.
Would you spend a year studying computer science (let's assume it'd be free and you'd get a monthly allowance to cover your living expenses) to equip yourself with technical skills to eventually build your own startup?

Arguments for both sides are highly appreciated!

Any advice for a student who is willing to start a startup?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2019 03:31 AM PDT

    Hi all,

I'm very motivated to try out a startup but whenever idea I think, it always sounds stupid. I don't really know who to think of a startup idea. Implementing the product is not the problem but I generally can't think of one that makes sense. Any advice for helping this out?

    What would you recommend?
