    Annoying clients

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 06:05 PM PDT

What is up with those clients you email for info and send their replies only to the partner/manager?

There's this annoying AF client who I've been waiting for stuff from for days who only now sends it to the manager, who didn't even know we needed it.

Like how hard is it to hit reply to the person who asked you for it in the first place.

My only rationale is maybe they had some bad previous experiences interacting with non-upper level accountants?

Please enlighten me. Also, I don't know why this annoys me so much, I may be overreacting. I also think I just strongly dislike this client because their file is a giant POS.

When have you flunked on an easy technical interview question?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 07:08 PM PDT

I just completed flunked on an super easy technical question on accruals and prepayments.

I walked out literally feeling like face palming myself because I've looked at these journals 100s of times as an auditor at a big 4 and just totally blanked out and answered them in reverse of each other out of nervousness and having not done an interview for a long time.

Now I just feel bad because a close friend recommended me for the position and I feel like such a disappointment right now.

Brings me back to my days in high school when I was a top student in class and the teacher asked me a super easy cash vs accrual based accounting question for a assessment and he looked at me with such disappointment when I missed the mark. That was almost 10 years ago and I still remember...

When have you screwed up a technical interview and what was the experience like?

Has anyone had to senior with less than a year of experience?

Because of major turnover in my office I will start senioring some accounts soon. I'm a little nervous because I'm not sure I'm ready. Has anyone else been in a similar situation before? Any tips on how to succeed?

    FAR Sims

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 09:35 AM PDT

Fuck this shit. I just need to vent, I get thru the multiple choices and everything makes sense and then I get to the sims and it all goes to hell. There's too much fucking information in these exhibits that don't even fucking fit on my screen. For all the progress i make I still can't get thru these without the video. I'm pulling my hair out and reconsidering if I even want to be a cpa. I'm two hours into a sim right now and want to end myself

Where do you put Big 4 summer leadership events on your resume?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 01:56 PM PDT

I will be attending PwC Elevate this year which is a 2 day event. You still had to interview and get vetted for it though so I think it is something that would look good on a resume. Only problem is I don't know where to put it? Next to my Honors section? Should it be a one line thing or should I bullet point details about it under (even though it's pretty much just us having fun and learning about the firm).

[CAN] Core 1 - How do I be successful?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 06:29 PM PDT

    Hey guys,

    In core 1 right now.

I'm doing relatively well on the integrated problems and practice cases, mostly RCs and Cs. I just feel like I'm sort of going through the motions though. Reading all of the chapters, then doing the MC quiz, then integrated problem, then practice case.

I'm worried that I'm not really retaining the information I read, there's just so much of it. I find the multiple choice pretty difficult.

How do I set myself up for success come exam time?

New Job offer, how to quit current Employer.

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 01:36 PM PDT

Basically, I just signed an offer from another company which will be a promotion (Going from Staff to Senior Accountant).

I have been trying to leave my current company for a couple of months because they do alot of shady stuff here and am not looking back. Oh, and there are no benefits in my current position.

I will not be using them for a reference in the future (only been here for 4 monthd), should I still put in a 2 weeks notice or just come in the next day and quit on the spot?

I want to have a couple weeks free before I start my new job.

What are your thoughts on recruiters?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 06:13 PM PDT

It can be either agency recruiters like Robert Half recruiters or internal company recruiters like an EY Recruiter.

For me, I have a pretty big disdain for a lot of them although some are an exception as some are very nice and transparent which I appreciate.

I am asking this because I really hate recruiters that just ghost you and nobody can ever really explain the actual reasoning behind why this happens is. I feel like majority of recruiters are like this and it's more of an exception to have a recruiter who is actually pretty up front with you and keeps in contact about your progress with the company. I have no problem handling rejection, a "we are moving on" letter is fine, but to just ignore you and ghost you is really unacceptable to me as it gives a sense of false hope.

I would like it if these recruiters ever looked for a job to have people ghost them themselves to see how much they like someone being an asshole to them feels like.
