    My April stock picks:

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 12:43 PM PDT

    I have exam's in the coming week so haven't been paying to much attention to the stock market, but this month I made three picks to invest in with my limited capital:

    Aurora Cannabis(TSE: ACB) ---> Purchased at 12.26 ---> Current value 12.24 = -0.16%

    Zynerba Pharmaceuticals(NASDAQ: ZYNE) ---> Purchased at 8.75 ---> Current value 12.11 = 32%

    BASF SE(ETR: BAS) ---> Purchased at 69.53 ---> Current value 72.49 = 4.16%

    Overall my picks are up 6.7%

    Nothing crazy but slow and steady wins the race in this game. What stocks have you guy's looking out for May and what have you guys picked during April?

    What are some of your opinions on Chegg ($CHGG) it dropped heavily today and due to their monopoly I believe it to have great long term potential but gauging what some others think.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 01:18 PM PDT

    It dropped nearly 10% today and they hold a near monopoly on textbook solutions and nearly every college student I know is subscribed to it in some form or another. They are also very hot on taking down replica sites that steal their solutions and have took down both textbook solutions and another one this year strikes against them. So I believe it to have great value long term and a potential great entry point. What are some of your opinions?

    To Sell or Not To Sell

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 06:10 AM PDT

    So a few months ago I bought a share of Amazon for about $1,600, now it's up to over $1,900. My dilemma is if whether I should sell since I've made about $300 off of it and I can use that to invest in other stuff, and possibly reinvest when it falls again. Or should I just hold on in hopes that it continues to rise, since it's one of the biggest and a growing companies? And I'm really not losing if I hold.

    I'm just afraid I will lose out on the current profit I've made on it. I know trying to "play" the stock market doesn't always go well, but just wanted to get thoughts on selling or holding?

    Stocks to Watch While Averages Face New Highs

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 02:18 PM PDT

    Market Backdrop

    Large cap stocks continue their march higher as the major indices are starting to test their all-time highs. Unfortunately, the small cap Russell 2000 is lagging the large cap indices, and this may pose a problem (Read: The Russell 2000 Continues to Lag Behind Large Cap Stocks). This is a potential warning sign for stocks, but fortunately the large cap indices have plenty of signals for us to watch. We can adjust the amount of risk in our portfolio based on what the S&P 500 does from here.

    Read the blog and checkout the charts here: https://www.brtechnicals.com/fr-stocks-to-watch-april-22-2019/

    The Stocks We Are Watching

    In this environment, we want to look for stocks that have good entry points in an already occurring uptrend, or stocks that have potential to begin a new uptrend. Starting a new uptrend doesn't come from picking a bottom, but from determining signals that indicate the bulls are now in control.

    ANF - Abercrombie & Fitch

    This stock is testing the neckline of a multi-year inverse head and shoulders pattern. This is a reversal pattern, and if the stock can clear the neckline, I would expect ANF to begin a new long-term uptrend.

    Why Add ANF to Our Portfolio

    ANF is a clothing company in the apparel stores industry. This industry is part of the consumer discretionary sector. The XLY Consumer Cyclical ETF continues to make new all-time highs as a leading sector in the S&P 500.

    WMT - Walmart Inc.

    WMT is still in a symmetrical triangle that has lasted more than a year. The stock is still in its minor uptrend beginning in 2016, as part of a larger uptrend beginning in 2009.

    Why Add WMT to Our Portfolio

    WMT is part of the discount stores industry, and is in the consumer staples sector. This is more of a defensive stock, but it plays a heavy role with consumers. The XLP Consumer Staples ETF has made new highs recently, and along with XLY (above) tells us consumers are still strong. A great thing about this stock is if consumers start to weaken, it could send more customers to Walmart, where people look to save on the items they need in their lives.

    JPM - J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.

    JPM is nearing all-time highs, but before it can do that it must clear its $115.50 resistance level. The stock is still in its long-term uptrend as the stock has recovered from its drop at the end of 2018. If this stock can clear the hurdle, it could be a signal that the U.S. economy and global economy is still capable of growth.

    Why Add JPM to Our Portfolio

    JPM is a major financial player in the global economy. The XLF Financial Sector ETF is testing a resistance like JPM, and I think it is likely that both securities will move in the same way. If XLF breaks the resistance, then it is likely JPM follows.

    Company stocks increased by 40% after disclosing they are interested in selling, what does this mean?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 10:05 AM PDT

    I don't know much about the stock market, and I apologise if this is the wrong sub. However, early this morning the company I work for publicly disclosed they are looking into selling the company due to an expressed interest from potential buyers. I'm wondering why the stock price would increase by so much? Is it because the public doesn't have faith in the current management team? Or is it just a natural reaction and the price will even out in the end?

    Surge Holdings Announces Integration of UPS into its SurgePays™ Retail Blockchain Network

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 10:03 AM PDT

    Reduces costs and streamlines process of ordering, fulfillment and delivery of products between local retailers and manufacturers through a modular and scalable software platform.

    Memphis, TN, April 30, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- April 30, 2019 – Surge Holdings, Inc. ("Surge") (SURG), developer of the SurgePays™ retail blockchain network, is pleased to announce it has completed the integration of UPS delivery into the Company's SurgePays™ platform.

    Brian Cox, CEO and Chairman of Surge Holdings, commented, "The SurgePays platform transforms the traditional retail supply chain by providing a virtual distribution hub for local retailers and convenience stores to access wholesale goods from around the country. In addition, our platform provides manufacturers the ability to cost effectively reach tens of thousands of stores nationwide. I am pleased to report we have achieved an important milestone with the integration of UPS into the SurgePays fulfillment module, which has now been fully tested, completed and is live on the system. As a result, we can provide manufacturers with pick-pack-ship forms and pre-populated UPS shipping slips, as well as tracking and notifications for both the manufacturer and merchants. Importantly, we believe this integration will also help lower distribution costs for manufacturers by allowing them to leverage the mass purchasing power available through UPS."

    "Our goal from the start has been to make the process of ordering, fulfillment and delivery of products between local retailers and manufacturers as simple, quick and efficient as possible through a modular and scalable software platform. I'd especially like to thank John Mott, our Chief Technology Officer, who has done a great job leading multiple teams of software developers to make this integration possible."

    Just a rant on the PDT rule

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 07:30 AM PDT

    So I say traded 3 times last week, but I thought that it reset 5 days later. Apparently, it actually resets after 5 business days, so now I'm screwed with holding an investment I tried to sell when I was up over 10% and now I'm down 20% Babbage I couldn't sell. This rule is so dumb because it doesn't let you cut losses. And I don't like holding overnight for swing trades because there is no way to make the trade safe by cutting losses. Why does the pdt rule exist?
