Analyzing Uber's 300+ page IPO filing (x-post /r/investing) Posted: 14 Apr 2019 09:41 AM PDT I made a video as I walked through Uber's S-1. I'm hoping people don't get burned by the hype and a $120B valuation just because it has a well-known brand name. Could be a good investment at some point, but just not at the levels they're throwing out right now. [link] [comments] |

What are some useful resources to use to learn about investing in stocks Posted: 14 Apr 2019 06:08 PM PDT I'm turning 18 in about half a year and am looking for resources that I can use/study to get an understanding in investing in the stock market. There seems to be an abundance of information but there also seems like there's a lot of crap. Any recommendations on resources that are actually useful. Also I understand that it will take longer than half a year to get a good grasp and want to get started studying as soon as I can even if I won't be investing for a LONG time. [link] [comments] |
Too many travelers, too few planes is U.S. airlines' 737 MAX summer dilemma Posted: 14 Apr 2019 11:24 AM PDT CHICAGO (Reuters) - Normally U.S. airlines compete to sell tickets and fill seats during the peak summer travel season. But operators of the grounded Boeing 737 MAX are facing a different problem: scarce planes and booming demand. The grounding of Boeing Co's fuel-efficient, single-aisle workhorse after two fatal crashes is biting into U.S. airlines' Northern Hemisphere spring and summer schedules, threatening to disarm them in their seasonal war for profits. Huawei is 'open' to selling 5G chips to Apple for iPhones, marking a big shift in strategy Posted: 14 Apr 2019 04:50 PM PDT https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/15/huawei-is-open-to-selling-5g-chips-to-apple-for-iphones.html Huawei is "open" to selling its 5G chips and other silicon to rival smartphone makers including Apple, the company's founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei, told CNBC. Apple has not yet released a 5G-ready iPhone, and Huawei could be a potential vendor for 5G modems. Huawei has used its chips exclusively in its own smartphones, and selling them to competitors would mark a significant change in strategy for the company — and a potential challenge to Qualcomm and Intel. Posted: 14 Apr 2019 07:33 PM PDT Seems like a barren wasteland of info on Google... looking for input on AI and algorithm based screeners. No huge followings so not buying into the hype unless someone suggests they're worth it. Example is tickeron.com. [link] [comments] |

Does anybody have any tips for a mock portfolio? Posted: 14 Apr 2019 01:51 PM PDT For a school project, I have a mock investment portfolio. I have invested $50,000 throughout the project and the project ends on April 30. The top portfolio in portfolio value on April 30 wins a prize. I am in seventh place with $54,183 and first place currently has a portfolio value of $56,327. The stocks that I currently have are: Apple, Amazon, Boeing, Berkshire Hathaway(class B), Hanesbrands, Intel, Netflix, Spotify, and Walmart. At this point, I think an all or nothing move would be the best shot at getting to first. So I am considering selling all of my current investments and investing all of my mock money into one to three stocks. Does anybody have any suggestions for the best stock(s) to buy? Or any other strategies that could get me to first place? Thank you for any tips that you have! [link] [comments] |
