Many economists consider the 1998 inversion to be a false alarm because it was far ahead of the 2001 recession.

It's important to get as much data as you can because even though this research goes back 53 years, there are only 8 data points to work with.

The cumulative average returns aren't tragic like many bearish investors project as stocks increase 9.2% in the next 24 months after this inversion. The worst sequential period is from 24 to 30 months where they fall 5.7% on average. The bearish investors love to act as if it's a sure thing that this cycle will end like 2008.

Tesla--despite the downgrades, is it a good buy?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 09:44 AM PDT

I'm a little disappointed about all these downgrades of Tesla ( https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/12/calls-of-the-day-tesla-boeing-coca-cola-monster-beverage-eli-lilly.html). In my mind, stocks controlled by visionary leaders hold premium. Yet, many people are selling the stock now.

What are your thoughts? Is it a good time to jump and buy Tesla?

Significant Activist Hedge Fund Activity (Last 7 Days)

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 11:32 AM PDT

These are the latest Schedule 13D forms filed by activist investors in the last 7 days. Activist investors are investors that make an investment with the intention of influencing management in some way. There is evidence that following activist investors into investments can generate excess returns. Schedule 13G forms, in contrast, are filed by significant investors with no intention of influencing management (such as Index funds).

There is always a lot of interest in insider trades, but what a lot of people probably don't realize is that hedge fund activity is probably more predictive of future returns than insider activity. The reason is that hedge funds (a) have large research budgets, and (b) have a choice where to put their money. In contract, insiders have no choice where to put their money, but only when to time their transactions.

    New Filings

This table lists new 13D filings in the last week. A new filing does not necessarily indicate a new position, as investors frequently accumulate in advance before reaching the filing threshold.

Significant Insider Trading Activity (Last 7 Days)

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 11:33 AM PDT

This is a list of the top 20 companies that experienced the largest change in insider shares in the last seven (7) days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases. All trades that are marked as part of a 10b5 plan are excluded from this report.

    Stock limit notifications

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 07:26 PM PDT

Does anyone have a suggestion as far as when a stock hits a certain number? I set up a limit to buy and/or sell and while I check the stocks through the day, does anyone have any good automatic notifications?

    3 Month treasury (2.44%) vs 5 year treasury (2.2%)

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 12:11 PM PDT

I am looking for anyone's ideas or thoughts on the matter but there has been a lot of talking about the 3 month and the 10 year inverting. Though it is a lot less common and more signifies a longer term uncertainty with regards to risk.

Would having a larger yield inversion for a shorter time duration be equally as ominous because it still shows that the market is worried about future returns and risks?

Hopefully this question is properly framed. I appreciate and comments as I'm still trying to build out my knowledge base.

How would BAC's stock react to the equity market crashing

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 05:40 PM PDT

I'm looking at BAC's (Bank of America) options prices, specifically LEAP puts. For a $20 put for BAC exp jan 15 2021 it is only 1.20 per contract. If the S&P dipped lets say 15% how would BAC's stock react?

Well.... nuts I lost a bitcoin today.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 04:32 PM PDT

Guessing the market crash just isn't my thing. I won't be placing bets anymore.

I would, however, like to sleep without worrying tonight. Can anyone look at VIX candle from Sept to today (with Dow upper)? The 9 month looks a lot like two major expansion patterns, and both the one month AND 3 day charts each show we just started a third.

Let me know if there's anything to worry about.

How do I short UK/British stocks?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 09:38 AM PDT

Ideally I am looking for an ETF that will increase in value as the UK/British banks decrease in value. An example would be YANG for chinese market 3x bear. I cannot find a Direxion Daily stock like that for UK/British banks. Am I just not good at finding something like that or is it actually difficult to find?
