UPDATE: A guy drove off with my couch while I was moving in because “If it’s on the street corner it’s public property”

    Original Post

Thank you to the user who suggested I look in the Facebook marketplace. I found it in there and got the name of the man who took it.

I took that information to the police and the man had other complaints of petty theft against him.

Even better, one of the people who helped me move realized my neighbor has a video doorbell and I was able to get proof to the cops that the man stole my couch with me standing right there with a moving truck and boxes.

A friendly officer went to his house and got my couch back, as well as a few other stolen outdoor furniture pieces (one was a bench from a local restaurant, I don't know the other situations.)

I deeply appreciate your legal advice, I now won't have to tell my parents the beloved multi-generational couch is gone. Cheers

I own a long-standing, extremely professional massage therapy center in NY and this morning a pretty big radio station said we were an illegitimate Spa who gives happy endings. Besides asking for a retraction, is there anything else that can be done?

    Posted: 20 Mar 2019 03:49 PM PDT

This happened a few days ago. Feels like a retraction means nothing nowadays and I've already received calls from people confused and upset, even a few asking if we are going out of business. We are on the opposite side of the spectrum when it comes to being compared to spa's like this; we literally help countless people (many with cancer) through medical massage and other services and of course everyone is licensed and insured. I've already spoken to the station and they were very apologetic and said they'd do a retraction, but I'm still quite angry.

[WA] My father and step mother died, leaving me (19m) and my step sister (8f). My step sisters father, who has previously never cared about her, is getting full custody and has told me he won't allow me to visit. Is there anything I can do?

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 07:51 AM PDT

Hi, so my life is falling apart.

As the title says, a few weeks ago my father and my step mother were killed in a car accident. They have been married for 7 years, and my step mother had a daughter from a previous marriage who is 8 years old. I love her unconditionally as if she were my own sister and I would fight tooth and nail to keep her safe.

She has no immediate family other than her father in the area, so he is going to receive full custody of her. I don't know if subjective opinions are allowed in posts like this, but this guy is a fucking asshole. The reason my step mother left him is because he was abusive (which was never reported to the police, but I know several people who have witnessed it first hand, so it absolutely 100% happened), and the reason he was abusive was because my step sister was born and he didn't want a child. As a result, he has never given a shit about her, never asked to see her, and has never wanted anything to do with her until now.

I was at home with my step sister a few days ago and he knocked on the door. I opened it and we had a really ugly conversation about what was going to happen to my step sister now that her mother and my father were dead. I told him that if he did end up having custody I would want to be seeing her as often as possible as I consider her my family. He told me, verbatim "that's not gonna happen, son. I don't want my daughter spending time with half caste blood." (he's referring to the fact that my father is mixed race, and that I am too as a result. I slammed the door. I was absolutely livid, which brings me to this post.

So basically, I have a few questions:First, Can anything be done to stop him having custody? There are no police reports about his abuse, and his criminal record is clean by all the research I have completed.

Third, at the very least, could I contend in a court that I have visiting rights to her? I'm not actually related to her, so I'm not sure what the standing is there.

Third, if it's not possible to force allowed visits, is there anyway I can straight up adopt my step sister? I have an office job that pays well, so financial security wouldn't be a problem, I have an apartment of my own, and I would be 100% willing to be her full time guardian.

EDIT: I want to make it absolutely clear that my sister does not want to live with her dad, and she says she wants to live with me.

Thank you so so so much to anyone who responds to this. I'm at my wits end and I will do literally anything to keep my step sister close to me, and I don't care about the cost.

[Update] Boyfriend witnessed a fight. The other witnesses all lied and the man was charged with a felony assault.

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 03:46 AM PDT

    https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/comments/b0ya74/tx_boyfriend_witnessed_a_fight_all_of_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app

After a few days, I convinced my boyfriend to make a statement. He was initially uncomfortable because the night of the incident, the true aggressor's significant other was pressuring people to make false statements. His friend called the non-emergency line to explain that they wanted to make a statement. Initially, the officer thought they were just trying to add an additional statement to support what was already known. When he realized they were providing new evidence, he stopped the phone call and arrived at their house within ten minutes. He took their statement, told them it could significantly alter this man's case, and said they should expect a follow up call in a few months and also be prepared to be subpoenaed if it comes to that. He chided them pretty hard for waiting so long to make a statement.

I'm deleting this account, so I apologize that you won't get an update on the final outcome of the case. I hope this is enough resolution at least!

A doctor stole my phone number

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 03:50 AM PDT

Went to the eye doctor 5 days ago and last night the doctor (from visonworks) sent me a text message asking me out. I spoke with representatives from the store who confirmed this is the doctors personal number. He clearly stole my number from the store computer and I'm worried he has access to my address and other personal information, and he has been thinking about me for 5 days now. I don't know if what he did just violates the company policy or if it's actually illegal, it seems mild but I'm horribly shaken and I feel that if he tries to contact me again (tried calling and texting me several times over the past few days) I should call the police. Any advice would be appreciated. Im in Wisconsin, by the way.

A little update. He had been trying to contact me via another number listed on my visonworks profile. He called and sent a text saying "hello" to this number the day before he sent me the text asking me out. I'm guessing he got both numbers from my profile and when no one responded from this number he tried the second one listed. Both attempts to reach me were within a day of each other. This guy is 25-30 years older than me. I have now filed a formal complaint with corporate and spoken with the manager and regional manager of his location, and I will be issuing a complaint with the licencing board.

I submitted a DMCA on a Youtube video that used my video game fanart and received a counter-notification. This guy claims it's fair use but I'm certain it isn't, how do I respond?

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 08:32 AM PDT

(I am in TX, other guy is in WA.) I was recently alerted by friends to a video on Youtube which used a piece of my artwork both in the custom thumbnail and in the video itself. I originally published the art itself in a Dropbox link which includes a readme text that says it may be used only non-commercially (eg for illustrative purposes such as articles on the subject) and with credit given to me. After reviewing the video I determined that neither of these caveats applied and filled out the copyright notice.

Youtube responded a few days after, essentially asking if I was really sure it wasn't fair use, and I replied as follows:

"The video in question features my artwork for over two minutes at the segment listed, as well as in the custom thumbnail (I was only able to choose one of the two options when filing the claim.) I originally uploaded the artwork to this Dropbox folder, which includes a readme text file that details usage permissions - [link]

I have stated that the artwork may be used for illustrative purposes non-commercially and with credit given, neither of which I believe apply to the video in question as it is monetized, includes merchandise links underneath, and does not have the required credits in either the video itself or the description. I would prefer that my artwork is removed from the video entirely."

Youtube's response to this, a few more days later, was "Thank you very much for your notification. The content has been removed."

Two hours later, I received an email from the video's publisher, who demanded to know why I had given him a copyright strike and asked that I revoke it. I pasted the same reason I gave to Youtube at him and he became increasingly irate throughout a chain of emails, insisting that it was fair use, that he had no idea that I was the artist (a claim which I provided proof against), and then I got his counter-notification which states "My video fully complies with fair use through being transformative and used for educational purposes".

I really don't want to back down on this because this guy is definitely using bullying tactics to use whatever art he pleases for his videos, and I know if it was a completely original piece it would be a slam dunk on my end, but I can't find any advice on what to do in this situation when the work is fanart? I have 10 days to respond or not, how should I proceed?

[update] [MA] Recently bought land, trees on property have been cut down after purchase

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 04:37 AM PDT

    Original post here

So it turns out the town decided the trees needed to be cut down. One was rotting, not sure on the others. When I got to the property, I noticed the cut trees were immediately along the road. The guy that did the job lives up the road and happened to drive by. Says the city will grind the stumps for free, which works for me. I'll be getting a fence permit and put a wooden fence up with trail cams anyways since it's probably a good idea.

Thanks for the advice, glad I won't need to go to court over it.

Student visa snatched away, advice needed.

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 09:34 AM PDT

[OH] A family member of mine has Jordanian citizenship. He was granted an F-1 student visa in the Spring of 2017. He studied in the U.S. for three semesters, Summer 2017, Fall 2017, and Spring 2018. everything was going smooth. The guy is a straight shooter, never got involved in anything even remotely shady, and was just honestly going through the motions.

In the summer of 2018, he left for Jordan to visit his family accompanied by his brother, who is a green card holder himself. One week after entering Jordan, he was called in for a mandatory appointment with the U.S. Embassy and was told on arrival that his visa had been revoked. When he asked for a reason or additional clarification, the response was: "no further information is available at this time." He was also told that he could apply again if he liked, and the application was denied on the spot. He was refused even a return to, collect his belongings, sell his car, terminate his lease, and just get his affairs in order.

Has anyone else had experience with this? Is there any way to appeal? The situation for young people in Jordan is not very positive and now he's stuck until further notice.

[Wisconsin] Local radio station is using a recording of my wife's voice.

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 06:39 AM PDT

Last summer a guy at a festival asked my wife to help him equalize a sound check for his audio equipment. As she did, apparently he recorded her giving a promotion for a local radio station which has now been running for a few months. She hasn't signed any kind of release or contract relating to this.

Wife doesn't seem too bothered by the situation, but the lack of written consent makes me very uncomfortable. Is this worth lawyering up? Would it be better to contact the station directly over the matter first?

Neighbor and I backing out at same time and hit each other. Now they want $1500?

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 06:06 AM PDT

Last week, my husband and I were leaving our apartment complex, and as he was backing up, he hit a neighbor's car. These are straight-on parking spots, and the neighbor was in the row behind us and to the left. I can't really say exactly what my husband saw or noticed, but I know that the neighbor was also in the act of backing up when we hit her. I don't know how much it matters, but we were backed out more (the husband had started turning the wheel to clear the car next to us) and she was still backing straight out.

The husband was very apologetic, said we'd take care of whatever we needed to, and we gave her our insurance information. Our car is a 14 year old SUV, and the only damage was that the trailer hitch was bent, so we said we wouldn't even bother fixing it. We took a picture of her car - it looks like our trailer hitch went through a plastic-looking molding along the bottom rear bumper and took out a reflector (not a light, just a reflector). She said she'd get a quote, and we kinda figured that would be that. We were fully expecting to give this woman about $300-400, and that's not great, but it's fine.

Turns out, my insurance is not going to pay out for her damages, because in NC (where we are), if both drivers share responsibility, you can't go after the other driver's insurance - you have to file with your own and pay your own deductible. My insurance did interviews with everyone, and everyone said on record that both cars were backing up at the same time and neither driver saw the other. My insurance also concluded that the neighbor was more responsible since she started backing after us (based on car positions and where the damage was). The agent I spoke to said we have zero legal obligation to pay anything, because that's the law here and we both just have to be responsible for our own damages.

Anyways, we had already offered to fix her damage, and now I'm not sure how to handle this (and I know, it was stupid to say that). Now this neighbor is saying we need to pay her out of pocket for the damages, and wants us to pay $1500 - which seems absurd for the amount of damage we caused (like I said, it was a hole through the reflector/plastic molding). She has yet to show us the actual estimate, which of course we're asking for . . . but now we are wondering if we should even pay at all, or what our legal obligation is.

Assuming she even gives us the estimate she says she has - can we ask her to get a second estimate from a place we know (my husband had his whole front end replaced two years ago, and that was only $600 with our body shop)? Can we ask her to file w/ her insurance before we'd offer anything? (my insurance agent was wondering if she even has collision coverage on herself - and if she doesn't, how is it okay for us to have to pay $1500???). How should we handle this in a way where we are still doing the "right thing" but not getting taken for a ride?

If i tell my school i want to kill my self, will my mom be charged with neglect?

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 10:55 AM PDT

I'm in high school, and I was called to my counselors office because a teacher reported me because i said i wanted to kill my self. My counselor explained to me that if i did, police would escort me to a psychiatrist ward, and I would have to explain my situation. My mom does know I'm depressed and I'm scared of telling the psychologist or doctor or whoever that i told my mom i need help, and then she never got me aforementioned help, would she be charged with some sort of neglect since she knows about my mental problems if i did turn my self in and said i wanted to kill my self? Or would she be completely left out of this? I'm in Florida by the way

I (24F) was sexually assaulted in a parking lot

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 08:20 AM PDT

    (Location: TEXAS)

Yesterday, as I was leaving a community college that is on the worst side of town in my city, I was approached by a young man. I walk very tensely to and from my car when I go to school because I am scared of this side of town so when he got my attention by saying "Hey" I automatically screamed in terror. I apologized and explained to him he can't just do that on this side of town and I showed him the pepper spray I carry just in case.

Anyways, he tries have idle chit chat, asking for my major, etc. He then asks me for my instagram which I give him (I used to work at a bar so I'm used to giving guys my social media because I can easily block them after our encounter opposed to giving them my phone number).

He keeps following me but his demeanor changes slightly from light hearted naive college student to a little bit mean. He then scrambles for something to say and asks me if I have a snapchat. I tell him I never use it. So he scrambles again and asks if I have a boyfriend. Me, used to working in a bar and have been classically trained in how to nicely/light heartedly reject a guy to avoid awkward contact, proceed to say "Of course I do, look at me *insert hair flipping emoji*"

At this point he has followed me beyond my comfort. I am at my car door and I'm at the stage where I planned to just get in my car and lock the door until he goes away. However, when I opened the car door and had my back turned for a second, he went in and slapped my ass pretty hard and ran off.

I'm only frozen in my car for second then I immediately open my instagram and clicked on his follow request and screenshotted everything just in case. Then I call my boyfriend because this is my first and only semester at this college (I already graduated college but just need to take one prerequisite), because he has been attending this college and I thought he might better know the police number. He says he doesn't but I am so shakey I cannot look it up myself that the offers to get it for me. I couldn't even dial normal 911 because I was pretty hysterical.

I then started driving. I have three ways to choose from 1) is blocked from construction 2) the road the offender took which I can still see him walking 3) Home. I decided to take the path the offender took because I didn't want to go home and I knew I needed to find police. The offender thinks I'm about to chase him then starts darting towards campus. I try to follow these construction workers to get their help but they were in a little cart and always too far ahead of me. Luckily tho, following them lead me to the police station (which was two blocks away).

Right when I barged in crying and explained a man just followed me to my car and groped me, the police went running outside looking for him.

I told them everything, I showed them his instagram account which he blocked me, and since then made a new account, and then ultimately deleted both. I also sent the screenshots I had attained.

They were unable to find him that day, but after the fact I was able to find his real full name and I gave that to the police (ex. his instagram had a nickname that could've been short for multiple names)

My question here is; now what? I want to press charges but do I stand a chance if there was no video evidence? And considering this was not rape and neither of us were injured there's no DNA evidence.

This is the second time I've been sexually assaulted and I don't want to be silent about it. I'm craving justice but I'm not sure how far my case will go if it's just "he said, she said"

Thank you and sorry for the long post!

My classmate got catfished by our principal

    Posted: 20 Mar 2019 11:19 PM PDT

My classmate got an email from a girl in an other class asking him if he wanted to by sex. He thaought she was playing and joked back saying yes. They continued discussing the deal ( he thought they were playing and just joking). It then turned out it was our principal emailing from another students email adress. The student got in a lot of trouble and they are calling police because he "tried to buy sex". Do you think this is okay? Is it illegal since he was mailing from another students email without her knowing? Its in Sweden but we have a oretry similar law system as the US.

    Roommate breaking my things

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 09:46 AM PDT

    Hi r/legaladvice,

I'm a college freshman in Illinois that has been living on campus in a dorm room with a roommate since August. Me and my roommate weren't ever friends, but we never didn't get along. We were able to live together and there were no problems. All of a sudden about a week ago these angry sticky notes were left on my desk that said "Be FUCKING quiet when I'm sleeping". This was left on my desk at 3 in the afternoon. When I asked what the reason was I was told that I was slamming the door. I like to think I am a considerate person and I could see he was sleeping so I was doing my best to be quiet. I said I would try and be quieter but I guess this wasn't enough. A week later I get 3 more sticky notes all telling me to be quiet and that he's a light sleeper so I have to be quiet. I asked him what I was doing now and why he hadn't said anything to me. He said my belt and keys jingling while I got ready in the morning was inconsiderate and unnecessary noise. Keep in mind I haven't heard any complaints all year, and all of a sudden he's extremely mad. When we had a talk with the RA for mediation my roommate said I have been waking them up all year. I haven't heard about it until now.

Now around the time of that first sticky note my Bluetooth speaker randomly broke. The charger was cracked and I couldn't fit it back into the port. I was bummed but, I figured I must've knocked it over and just didn't remember. Then a day or so later, the cassette machine that I had in the room is unable to use an aux chord. The chord won't fit into the remote mic jack. Now it's a little weird, I figured i must've don't something but I really couldn't remember. Then a few days go by and my phone charger is completely broken. It doesn't charge any of my devices, and the usb part will NOT come out of the brick. It is completely stuck in there, almost like it's glued. This is when I started getting weirded out. Then I went to watch a movie, and the charger for my laptop wouldn't fully fit into the computer and now it won't charge. I was starting to get suspicious because I don't abuse my technology so I was confused how these eerily similar damages were happening. Then a few days later, my Bluetooth headphones aren't able to charge anymore. The charger just doesn't fit into the jack. There's also a slight residue on the outside. Then after the 3 sticky notes were left, a few hours later, the charger to my 8 track recorder was destroyed. The prong on the charger block was blatantly bent and busted off. Then I go to look at the actual charger spot, and it's visibly filled with glue. I can see the residue and the glue inside. I wanted to write these off as a coincidence but I can't anymore. I can't afford to replace these items and I'm scared to leave the dorm because I don't know what will get broken next.

I talked with the RA for our dorm and told him my concerns and he said we couldn't really prove anything. This is why I am coming here, is there anything I can do to get reparations for these things? I'm already petitioning to move rooms, but I'm still here for a few more days and I'm scared more will get broken than already has.

I had to evacuate my own flat during a fire at 2:30am, because my fire alarm DIDN’T GO OFF.

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 03:35 AM PDT

Ok so prepare for a long story and I'm in a mobile so sorry in advance. Also I'm from the UK.

A couple of days ago in my university accommodation building there was a big kitchen fire around 2:30am on floor 5 of 18. I am on floor 4. So I woke up to the heavy footsteps above running around and a few screams and I just assumed that this was a party, about 15 minutes of this I hear the faint sound of the fire alarms. It's at this point I start messaging my neighbours asking if they're ok and I listen out my front door and still only hear the alarm faintly from other flats. My neighbours then responded around 2:45 saying that there is a fire and we need to get out of the building. my flats fire alarm STILL hasn't gone off! On average there is around 10 people per flat so I spent the next best part of 10 minutes trying to wake up everyone I live with. Around 3am we made it out of the building and there were fire engines everywhere. It wasn't until 3:20 am nearly an hour after the fire that the building was completely evacuated.

They then kept us outside for 4 hours. Every time we asked what was going on the night staff security of our building had no clue what was happening or how to evacuate nearly 800 people. No proper training AT ALL.

4 hours later (me and my friends decided to go and wait in the local McDonald's because we were all in pyjamas and it was FREEZING) we are informed that the sprinklers have flooded the building and that it's going to be a very long night. Around 9am they let us back into our flats (only became we begged for clothes even though it wasn't deemed safe to enter) to grab what we needed but anyone who was on floor 5 or below (myself) was not allowed to stay, we had to wait in the main reception... which was flooded. 11:30 we STILL have been given no indication of when we are getting help, we just keep being told another hour to wait and that hotels are being booked. At this point people are sleeping on the floors and chairs due to exhaustion. At 4pm (nearly 14 hours after the fire) we still haven't been given any accommodation and have not been told where we can go. At 6pm - 16 HOURS AFTER - we are finally given a place to stay, another university halls another hour away and we have to bring our own duvet and pillows and pack a suitcase. They have not provided anything else for us.

We have had to stay in this building for 48 hours. The university keeps emailing us saying it's safe to go back and sleep in the building but every time we go back they refuse us entry as it's still deemed very unsafe.

I really want to know what I can do so this doesn't happen again in other accommodations (as mine is run by a big chain company). I'm not even looking for money compensation, I just want to make the world aware of the poor training of staff, that there was no head count of how many Students were in the building and that we kept getting the wrong information. I'm sorry for the long story but I wanted to give as much detail as possible, I would really appreciate some advice. Thank you.

My gf’s last name was changed by her mother when she was little but her birth certificate still has the original last name and there is no amendment we can find. How can we prove her identity? (NJ)

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 05:09 AM PDT

We can't get identification for my girlfriend and have hit a road block because her current documents (social security, bank statements, school transcripts,) are under her new last name, but her birth certificate is not and she needs an amendment. We were instructed to contact the court house in Sacramento, CA (her place of birth) for the amendment. Her father went down there and came up with nothing. We have no help or contact from the mother for more information or documentation. What can we do to prove her identity?

I’m seeking advice on how to address my neighbors (household of 5) who have been using my trash cans (shared with 8 residents for complex). Live in LA.

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 09:38 AM PDT

I saw the neighbor this morning dump 5 unbroken down boxes in the compost bin which is also the incorrect bin. I told him that the trash bins are not for his house. He firmly believed they were, I called my landlord and he confirmed they are not apart of our complex. I'd like to firmly communicate to them that this is not okay and that they order their own trash cans.

I was ticketed for the first time since I got my license for speeding last December, and as an international student at NY, I was freaked out and did not take a photo of the ticket before I sent the plea of not guilty via certified delivery.

I appeared at town court on the date written on the ticket, and the judge said he never received the filing from the police and nor my plea... I was shocked. After searching, they concluded that I was not charged and I was dismissed. i asked for confirmation and the judge said I should not worry about it...

I thought it was the end, until I suddenly received a letter claim I did not show up at the court and the case was rescheduled...

I wonder if it's legal for the Court to do so since I was dismissed for the case and if I should be not guilty already...

[Edited] I signed on the sign up sheet when I showed up, and I took a photo of the Court room. The court date was 12/18 before the government shut down and there were other people showed up at the court for traffic violations.

My mother was recently involved in a car crash, and the person at fault is requesting THREE YEARS of medical records [MA]

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 08:22 AM PDT

    tl;dr is title legal?

My mother was recently rear-ended and the person who hit here drove off before officers arrived at the scene. She got the plate, though, so we do know who it is and she is pressing charges.

The rear-end didn't injure her; it just caused damage to the car. An insurance adjuster has already come and noted the damage.

However, a letter arrived from the offender's insurance company requesting the past three years of medical records from all the people who treated her (my mother)

What I am asking is: is this legal, and if not, what can we do against it?

    Edit: some info

A teacher hit me, the school didn’t fire him , I dont feel safe , what can I do?

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 12:57 PM PDT

Hi guys . So this situation is sort of urgent as I genuinely don't feel safe and I feel like me or another student could be in extreme danger. I go to the only high school in my really small city, it's an urban area and there's quite a bit of violence and a REALLY REALLY REALLY shitty school system. I'm a junior ( 17 female) in high school and I'm currently taking my first year of Geometry. My school hired a new geometry teacher this year ( we will call him Mr.W) and every since the beginning of the year he was very very weird. He would make a lot of 'jokes' about murder /suicide / drugs . For example he'd say " I'm going to slit my wrist/ blow my braids out / murder someone one of these days etc. Us kids always did a " wtf" face and an awkward laugh at these comments as they would come out of nowhere . He's also had mini blow ups screaming in students faces until he's beet red and so close he's almost touching noses with them for things like talking or being on their phone . One day I came into class and he was Already obviously agitated. ( breathing heavy, pacing , barking orders). He told me to get out my packet and I told him I didn't have one because I wasn't in class the day before when he handed them out . He told me he wasn't getting another one for me and I just went to my seat . I started talking to my friend and he yelled at me to be quiet and I said " okay you don't need to scream at me ) he then rushed over to me and got int my face. I was sitting in a tall chair ( our school has the chairs with the wheels on them that you can adjust height on) and he got completely in my space to the point where I could see his nose hair and I couldn't move at all. Now, I have anxiety, I've gone to years of therapy and have taken a ton of prescribed medication over the years to calm my nerves. Although I've gotten better to the point where medication isn't needed I still go to therapy for it once a week. I asked him over and over again to please back away from me saying he's making me nervous over and over and I told him that I feel uncomfortable and he continued to get in my face and lecture me . I was terrified and cornered between lab tables at this point . I was panicking now and put my hands up to try and put some space between us , this didn't stop him he then hit my arm hard and put it down . I then pushed my way passed him in full anxiety attack mode . I reported the incident and they put him on leave for a week but now he's back and I feel like he's really crazy and a danger to me and other students . He did this in a room full of people I'd hate to think of what he would do if he got my in the hallway alone or waiting until I left the school from practice at 7 Pm and followed me home...I'm genuinely genuinely terrified and I don't know what to do ??? Any suggestions would help ( I live in New Jersey )

Free housekeeper in exchange for housing NY

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 12:46 PM PDT

I live in Brooklyn NY and saw an ad from a woman who was looking for housing in exchange for housekeeping/babysitting job. I have a finished basement that I don't use and offered the space. After talking on the phone and seeing her resume, she came over and liked the space. I also asked her to send me an email stating that if either one of us is not happy with the arrangement, the other party will get a 30 day notice before she leaves. I would like to know if this decision can backfire and what precautions I should take (if any). She has not moved in yet.

Can an employer enforce a non-compete agreement if they will no longer be operating in that state? (Texas)

    Posted: 21 Mar 2019 10:37 AM PDT

If a company's business relationship has ended, and they have no other accounts in the state, can they stop their current employees from seeking work directly from the former account? In other words, they can't continue to provide employment without unpaid relocation to another state.
