Got hospital treatment while health insurance plan was temporarily inactive? Posted: 04 Nov 2018 10:14 PM PST Hi everyone, Sort of a weird situation here, not sure how to navigate. So, for some reason, my parents' health insurance plan was temporarily inactive for about four days. My parents got it fixed, but sometime during those four days, I had to go to emergency care and get some treatments, including CT scans. I didn't know the health insurance was inactive during this time, and I wasn't able to provide my health insurance info at the time anyway. Now that the plan is reactive, I will be calling the hospital's billing center to provide that information. That said, since I was treated while my plan was inactive, will insurance not cover it? I'm worried to have to pay the bill fully out of pocket...I tried looking this up, but could not find any info. Any insight would be very greatly appreciated. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Nov 2018 06:52 PM PST Went to the dentist a few months ago. Neither of my insurances will pay out because they're both waiting for the other to pay first. Am I just stuck with the full bill? The dentist isn't offering any advice and both insurances claim they can't do anything. [link] [comments] |
is agile health insurance legit? Posted: 04 Nov 2018 09:26 PM PST I keep seeing this pop up as a possible health insurance, lots of adds and lots of promotion on goole. I am looking for health insurance, and ther quotes they show are quite reasonable and much lower compared to the healthcare-gov website, is agile health insurance a legit organization or are they just scams? links below, be carefull if you do decide to click on them,. One of the red flags is taht there seem to be many websites taht do the same thing, act as a 3rd party for insurance plans that I cant find the other companies for, the sites seem legit, but I cant seem to find the companies they offer the insruance from also, other sites like healthinsurance-net, they and agile health look almost exactly the same, down to the info input. that is one of the reasons im skeptical Thansk again [link] [comments] |
Moving Insurance and Moving Company Troubles Posted: 04 Nov 2018 10:06 AM PST Hi folks! In a weird situation - we moved back in April. It was only a few blocks, so we moved our stuff, then hired a moving company for our furniture. They damaged a TON of the items. When I booked with the moving company, I asked "Will the moving insurance you're offering cover damages to my belongings?" They responded, "YES." They knew it was furniture-only at this point. Sadly, the insurance company won't pay out as "We only cover full packing and unpacking moves, and your move was furniture-only." The moving company says at MOST, they will only pay the mandatory 40¢/lb, as they "just offered the insurance as a convenience and it's not their fault if I didn't understand what I signed for." Ok, to sum up: 1) Packing up furniture, moving it, and unpacking isn't "packing and unpacking." 2) The moving company told me the offered insurance would cover the move, and I paid $200 for it. 3) Declared value coverage, damages of (IF they had paid out full value for each damaged item) ~$1550. 4) I have everything in writing. I would like the moving company to pay out, seeing as how they sold me insurance which would NEVER have covered my type of move BUT assured me it would (so I didn't know to look for other insurance!) but I'm not sure if that's true legally? Complicating factor: I'm in Puerto Rico. Feel free to answer for the rest of the US, just trying to get perspective. Sigh. [link] [comments] |
Losing marketplace insurance discount for Medicaid? Posted: 04 Nov 2018 06:06 PM PST I had to apply for a marketplace insurance with financial assistance having lost my job a year ago and managed to get good insurance with an even better price but now approaching 2019, I have filed to renew my insurances only to get a message stating that I need to cancel my insurance so I can get Medicaid coverage instead. I don't see why this is, none of my info has changed over the last year; I still make shit for money working 25 hours a week at a part-time job and now I'm going to lose insurance I could afford in favor for something that's potentially going to cost me 100x more than what I was paying? Unless the medicaid is free, I won't be able to afford this forced-upon-me medical "assistance". [link] [comments] |
Wind storm ripped my storm door off my house. Posted: 04 Nov 2018 05:58 AM PST Crazy wind storm last night tore the storm door off my house. The glass shattered on one of the three panes and the handle broke clean off. Is this the kind of thing that would be covered by home owners insurance? If so, would they cover repairs or a replacement? Would that include installation? [link] [comments] |

Mortgage Universal Life Insurance questions Posted: 04 Nov 2018 04:02 PM PST New Hampshire, USA. I was hit up by an agent after I bought a house selling me a product called Mortgage Universal Life Insurance (with cash back option). Basically, I pay in something around $100 a month per person for the next 30 years, and if nothing happens in that time I get basically that amount of money back, roughly 35K per person. The benefits amount to about 200K if one of us dies, as well as some 'living' benefits where if I am disabled or catch a terminal disease, it pays out before I die to save us from becoming homeless before I finish dying. The salesman was obviously very convincing, but I'm getting hung up on the idea that if I already have (work based) life insurance sufficient to cover the mortgage on my premature death, and (work based) long term disability coverage then do I really need an additional insurance option? The cash back option seems nice, but if I invested the premiums over the same period I would have significantly more than just the 35K after 30 years, not to mention the inflation hit on that 35K after 30 years have gone by. Just curious if there are any alternate opinions on this type of product besides the salesman's enthusiastic pitch. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Nov 2018 03:53 PM PST I'm located in Texas, and currently have no work history but hope to be starting a job soon that pays about 14$ an hour. I've tried the healthcare.gov site but the options seem to be kinda expense or affordable with high deductibles where do I go from here? [link] [comments] |

when will my car insurance go down? Posted: 04 Nov 2018 11:37 AM PST Hi So I got my license 11 months ago and I am a 22 year old female. My car insurance is about 300 a month. I was on my aunt's policy until July when I bought my own car. I have Geico and most quotes I got have been similar. Geico told me they don't change the rate after I start coverage, and they gave me a much lower deductible. The question is when can I see this rate start to go down. Its doable but difficult financially. Thanks for any insight! [link] [comments] |
Fiancee got a DUI looking for direction on insurance. Posted: 04 Nov 2018 11:06 AM PST As the title states, my fiancee made a series of bad decisions and got her first (and only) DUI (no accident). We live in Michigan. I'm wondering how to handle the car insurance once she finishes her license suspension and all the stuff that goes along with it. I know that there is such a thing as SR-22 non-owner operator insurance. I was wondering if the car was still in her parents name they tool her off the insurance, and carry PLPD insurance on it and she gets the SR-22 non-owner operator insurance if there would be any conflicts legally with this when she used the car. Trying to minimize costs and whatnot. Thanks for the help! EDIT: Some missing information, the car is currently in her parent's name with her named on their insurance. We could just keep it in their name like stated and her have non-owner operator insurance. [link] [comments] |

Auto accident, determining fault Posted: 04 Nov 2018 07:26 AM PST Question Husband was in a car accident Thursday night. He had a green arrow and proceeded to turn left. A female ran a red light and they crashed. The female who we believe was on the phone, for the second they hit, she jumped put and was already on it, talking to someone. She claims to have had a green light going straight. An off duty police officer gave a statement in my husband favor starting he had a green arrow. Insurance company had informed us this is likely to go to litigation, with a witness what is the likely hood of them not being able to determine fault? being in NC, if fault cant be determined, both are at fault. no citations given by responding officer [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Nov 2018 05:14 AM PST I have a relative with Cancer and am having a problem with getting nursing care. They offer cancer treatment but if the cancer treatment is selected they remove nursing care and he has to live at home. Does anyone know a way around this? [link] [comments] |
Bought a $3500 car. Is getting car insurance still worth it? Posted: 03 Nov 2018 09:17 PM PDT I'm not the greatest at understanding insurance and how it all works, however my husband says getting insurance for my car would be wasteful. Although I wouldn't mind if I get dents and scratches on my car, I would mind if I scratch a Mercedes. I also seem to be the only one I know without car insurance. Should I ignore my husbands advice and shop around for insurance or is it truly a waste of money for how little my car costs? Is it possible to get insurance to only cover the other person? Apologies if I have post in the wrong place. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks [link] [comments] |
No contact. Possible injury claim Posted: 03 Nov 2018 06:37 PM PDT My girlfriend cut off a bus in Oakland California close to her destination. The bus stopped abruptly and honked its horn, but there was no contact, no collision. Someone on the bus claims that the sudden stop caused them injury. Because my girlfriend was parked at her destination, they took a photo of her license plate. Before she can obtain any more information, the person got on the bus and left. There was no police involvement and the whole interaction only lasted minutes. What are the chances of this materializing into a claim? Should I contact my insurance or wait for the other party to file the claim first? [link] [comments] |
Cancelled auto insurance, got a partial refund, insurance company doesn’t know where the rest is? Posted: 03 Nov 2018 03:20 PM PDT Anyone know what I should do if this doesn't get resolved? Or anyone have a similar experience before? I cancelled my auto insurance on my due date and my payment of $220 went through (I completely expected this, been with this company before and had no trouble receiving a refund). They say it's been cancelled and you'll get a refund in 7-10 days. Usually I get a refund directly to my card but this time I got a refund sent by check..the check was only for $154 and some change.. I called the insurance company and they said they see I was charged the $220 and refunded the $154 by check but can't see what the other $66 dollars was for. They have no idea why I didn't get a refund for the full amount and couldn't tell me anything nor help me figure out where the money went. My insurance payment looked something like this Car 1: $77.xx // Car 2: $146.xx They said the agent MIGHT know where the money went and if there was a discrepancy somewhere. But how is my money just lost like that when it showed I paid? I'm not feeling hopeful in finding a quick solution. Does this situation sound like something that occasionally happens or am I just really unlucky? [link] [comments] |
