First Day of Day Trading results

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 02:10 PM PDT

Here is a follow up on how my first attempt at day trading went.

    My budget was 400$

My goal was to make 100$ this week.

I bought 20 shares of NBEV at 6.94$ and sold at 8.00$ for 21.2$ profit

I bought 100 shares of CRMD at 1.18$ and sold at 1.34$ for 16$ profit

I bought 34 shares of IGC at 7.65$ and it is now at 9.50$ which would be 62.9$ profit.

I am holding IGC until tommorow and will set a sell limit at 11.50$ for a 113.9$ profit. I may hold longer if it looks like it is going to climb higher than that this week.

Im now im sitting on 100.01$ profit off of 400$.

I reached my weekly goal in one day.

I have one day trade left after today for this trade period and may attempt to do another small one if i can sniff out a good lead.

Thanks everyone on here last night who gave me advice, input, and information.

Hope everyone else had fun day too.

    Cheap stock advice

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 11:26 AM PDT

Is there a cheap stock ($15>) that you all would truly recommend buying? Either for a long hold, short hold, or even dividend?

I only ask because my main account, which is composed 80%+ of SPY/QQQ/BRK.B is set to do an automatic payroll deduction. I login every other Friday and I invest the few hundred that was deducted. The problem I'm facing is, it's very common for me to be left with $30-$50 bucks. I frankly just feel stupid waiting a month or two, having that money sit there, until I have enough to purchase another share of SPY. If there was a $10 stock that I could buy 3-5 shares of every other week, at least my money wouldn't just be sitting there.

2 months ago I posted a Motley Fool Stock Advisor recommendation, $BB(Blackberry) and the post got no love. They released their earnings last Friday and after reading the earnings report, have strong conviction they have an awesome future with a new business model.

    Posted: 30 Sep 2018 05:59 PM PDT

The stock is around $11 and the post I submitted with the recommendation report from Motley Fool Stock Advisor you can find here. Due your own diligence, this is a different company and forget what you think you know about their phone business as they are a different company now and believe it's going to be a helluva comeback.

What’s going on with TNDM? It’s at $38. Down $10 per share since last week?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 02:31 PM PDT

Is this prime for a price ramp up? I am a long term hold but this definitely is causing me a bit of concern

$BB - Blackberry Long Term Growth

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 10:04 AM PDT

I'll be honest, before the most recent Blackberry ER, I wouldn't have touched the stock with a 10 foot pole.

But something interesting is happening here. If you take a look at Apple, they are trying to double it's income from services.

Blackberry is taking a similar approach. They can no longer be classified as a hardware company. I see Blackberry emerging as a leader in the next 2-3 years with their technology solutions business, QNX. (Aimed primarily at the embedded systems market)

Now it is too early to say if this will be profitable long term. But with John Chen leading the company, I have some faith. They've already gotten some solid partnerships and the royalties from 2-3 years ago are starting to pay off. It's only about $1.5/per car but they have indicated that it could garner between $5 and $25 per vehicle as it expand into more sophisticated automative technologies.

What's your typical profit margin exit point?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 07:50 AM PDT

I know a lot of people that buy high quantities and sell at 10% profit. Some folks go 20% before they'll exit. I made 55% before exiting TDOC myself. So this is a bit of a survey; I just want to know what margin, on average, most folks take before exiting a position. For example, today TSLA got up to around 17% before tapering off, leading me to believe a lot of folks bought in while it was down and took a 15% profit when it came. What's your preferred minimum margin?

[Discussion] How do people actually get rich with stocks without trading options?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 01:41 PM PDT

I'm close to 30 and I have a bit of money on the side. Even if I started investing that money plus every disposable penny I earn and have practically impossible gains of 25% every year, I won't even come close to a million at 40.

I feel like I'm hopelessly behind. I can either start gambling by trading options or instead use my money to have enjoyable 30's.

Considering how important time in the market is, is the stock market nothing more than basically a bank account offsetting inflation for people over 26?

    Effects of Diversification [Python Script]

    Posted: 30 Sep 2018 07:59 PM PDT

Though you guiz might enjoy this, just 2h of coding but I might do something pretty in the next days with this repo

Explanation for people that don't understand Python: Gets the requested tickers data from Yahoo Finance, calculates cumulative return and displays graph, all in a few lines

Graph: As you can see, diversificating half of your portfolio between SP500 & TSX holds a similar return (less 3%) but a much lower downside (you lose less money!) during the last twenty years (and used to be more profitable)

EDIT: NBViewer for Python Notebooks on Mobile, thanks /u/jd_paton

    IGXT

    Posted: 01 Oct 2018 12:09 PM PDT

IGXT - IntelGenex - signed an LOI with Tilray to combine IGXT's delivery system (oral versafilm) with TLRY's MJ medicine. IGXT is also researching with other top brand pharmaceuticals for versafilm delivery of ED medications, Alzheimers, anti-migraine medicine. Much more to the IGXT story.

The film dissolves on the tongue and goes straight in to the bloodstream from there. This improves drug efficiency and also gets rid of the need for water, as well as diminishes dangers associated with swallowing or injecting medications.

The TLRY deal will bring cash, might be worth looking at!
