Reddit advertising data is false small business

Reddit advertising data is false small business

    Reddit advertising data is false

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 08:56 PM PDT

I use analytics software for my website and I run a couple of small ads on Reddit.

So I've been looking at the data on my Reddit ads dashboard and comparing it against my analytics data, and there are huge discrepancies. Reddit is showing a whole lot more clicks than my website received in visitors.

What that means is that the data Reddit uses to bill us is incorrect, or completely falsified. If Reddit can't report click data accurately, then how can they report accurate impressions data? The answer is they can't.

This is a class action lawsuit ready to happen.

how many negative effects will opening later make?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 04:18 AM PDT

My dad owns a convenience store but the years of working 6:30 am to 10 pm is wearing him down.

Would it be bad for him to open at like 7:30 a.m or even maybe 8?

Between 6:30 a.m to 7:30 a.m we literally have on average one customer buying a paper or something. He talks about customer loyalty and how if we open later the other stores in our town who open at 6:30 will take our customers but like... How bad can it be? It's one customer?!

    Influencer marketing agency?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 06:01 PM PDT

It's an idea I've had for a while. I live in a metropolitan city that is crawling with influencers of various followings (1K - 2M), and those on the upper echelon are swooped up by some larger national agency.

There's been a wave toward smaller influencers (microinfluencers, is what I believe they're called) and there's really no reputable agency managing their brand activities, followings, or engagements. There's a small agency that's a massive ripoff (charging vulnerable microinfluencers about $500 a month and raising follower count through bots) but I won't talk too much about them, because ew.

I've been on the other side (microinfluencer for 2+ years) and have built relationships with a multitude of small and large-scale brands. I imagine starting an agency of my own would entail a lot of juggling different clients (both on the front and back end), as well as keeping up with a lot of things at once.

Now, has anyone here created a influencer marketing agency? What pitfalls or challenges have you faced?

    Matterport based small business

    Posted: 06 Oct 2018 12:15 AM PDT

Hello, I have a small matterport based business. What we do is scanning and the matterport idea is a bit tricky because it's a service for small locations. What we try to do is targeting big property clients, but in a way that they won't go and buy a matterport for themselves because is cheaper. We created a small platform for them to be able to manage the scans and other datas as booking if it is a hotel, pdf viewer, google integration of street view and maps, images etc. We have made a small presentation for it at https://raumgang.com/users If you are a big property business and you need a scan, what makes you not getting a matterport for yourself?

How do I generate more leads for a design/website agency?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 11:13 AM PDT

I've tried cold calling, and obviously that didn't work. But what are some other strategies I could use that you guys recommend to generate leads/potential clients?

How long do you spend on administrative/bookkeeping tasks if you do not have a bookkeeper?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 11:15 PM PDT

    So now what?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 09:16 PM PDT

I have a business that is - after years of work - getting somewhere. Last year we grossed $225k and broke even, this year we are on course for $500k with $50-60k post-tax profits. We're just beginning our fourth year of business, although really only the second year of business of it being a proper company (i.e. with people other than me). We're in a service industry and we're nowhere near hitting our limit in terms of customers. We have quite a nice USP and have good customer satisfaction.

So, my question really is: what do I do now? I've set myself a goal of working in the company no longer than 2 more years (ideally as of summer 2020 I'd be a manager only - perhaps just a silent owner). I read the E-myth Revisited thanks to the recommendations of this sub, and have (I think) taken the recommendations on board. Things are systematized, the business is very repeatable, I work in the business because I like it, but it doesn't prevent me working on the business etc. I think the business is franchiseable, and I think that'd be an interesting next project.

The main thing I don't enjoy about the business is the financial side of things. I do it, and manage expenses etc., but I find it to be super stressful, and not my area of expertise. I have investigated getting a fractional CFO, which seems like a positive step, so does anyone have any experience with this? I already have an accountant who does the taxes, but I'd love someone to do a few hours a month in the business to give suggestions, help with budgeting and so on.

We don't have any debt, or even a line of credit, but managing cash flow hasn't been too tricky, I just feel like I don't really know what the business can and can't afford, and what the next steps are.

TL;DR: franchise? Business mentor? Fractional CFO? Investors? None of the above?

Any ways to increase my conversion rate? (Online Interior Decor Site)

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 11:50 AM PDT

    Hey all,

I just opened my site a week ago. I hand-make geometric shelving and I think I sell it at a pretty competitive (if not cheaper) price. I've been paying for Adwords and have had over 60 hits from Adwords in the last week but no conversions. I added free shipping (and mentioned it in my ad) which has increased hits, but still no sales.

At this point, do you think email-based conversion funneling is key, or do I need to redesign my site a bit and improve the copywriting? One of the benefits of my site is that a percentage of proceeds go towards Conservation Northwest. I'm also only targeting users on the West Coast, both to decrease my shipping costs and because I think it's more relevant to them.

If you're interested, you can visit my site here: r/http://www.roomlycatalog.com

Giving commissions to engaged employees who bring in sales

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 08:09 AM PDT

I run a small professional services firm. We have a team of six. We strongly prioritize employee experience, with the result that everyone on our team is super engaged and passionate about their work. My employees are constantly talking to their friends and family about what we do, it's great.

As the owner, I'm really the only sales person. All the rest of them are billable staff doing the day-to-day work.

One of my employees had been talking about our work with a friend, and it's looking like this may lead to an engagement for us that would be quite sizeable. I feel like I would like to give her a commission if the engagement comes through, even though that's not part of our compensation model at the moment. Our regular salaries and benefits are competitive already.

Is there a guideline for this sort of scenario where it's a "bonus" commission (vs a sales person where it's directly part of their compensation)? I assume % of the engagement...is there a rule of thumb %? Am I being overly generous, since they will continue to sell with or without it being incentivized? (I'm pretty sure the answer to that is no, but doing sanity checks...)

Should I try starting an online business with my friend?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 03:12 PM PDT

I have tried countless times to start an online business, my typical model is affiliate marketing + pinterest, but right when it's about to become profitable I get overwhelmed and give up. This has happened to me probably 3-4 times and it's frustrating.

So I was talking to my friend a while ago and he said he wants to start a business as well. He doesn't know anything about online marketing, but I pretty much have the process down, and I also know he is a hard worker and pretty smart so I can teach him what to do. Also, if I have someone working with me, we can split the costs. Obviously, I will only make half the amount of money though.

So what do you guys think? Should I start a business with a friend? Or keep trying by myself?

Where to find cheap logo design? Fivver, /r/Slavelabour

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 02:43 PM PDT

I want to have a quick place holder logo designed and I am curious what others have done? This wouldn't be my permanent design, just something as a place holder to play with. I have used fivver in the past, it was meh, ok. I haven't used /r/slavelabour but am considering it?

What have others done? How did you sort through the BS? Any tips?

    Thanks!!!!

Do you use Yelp for reviews?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 01:00 PM PDT

We ask all of our customers to leave us reviews and provide links to our Google, Facebook, and Houzz pages. We get a lot of great reviews that are almost all positive. For awhile, we provided a link to Yelp as well, and we got many positive reviews there, but they all ended up being filtered out as "not recommended". I stopped providing a link to Yelp, since I'd rather those customers leave reviews on websites where the reviews would actually be seen. Every once in awhile, we will get a negative review on Yelp--why does it seem like all of the negative people go to Yelp and all of those reviews magically make it through the filter?--which is lowering our star rating since we don't have all of the positive reviews to balance it out. Should I ask for reviews on Yelp, knowing most of them will not be seen but hoping enough of them will to make a difference? Or should I just keep focusing on other websites where all of the reviews won't disappear?

    LLC questions

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 12:20 PM PDT

Hi! I have a few questions regarding LLCs I'm hoping to get answers on! My husband is going part time at his hospital job to focus on photography. He has never seriously focused on it and is mostly an adventure photographer and blogger as a hobby. He has sold a few photos in the past to Outside Magazine, Bikepacker Magazine, Backcountry...

We have been researching making an LLC for his photography, just to keep things seperate if he does make some money on it and also for some of the tax write off benefits (office space, gear costs, etc).

I've done a lot of research but havent found any real disadvantages. Does he need to make "x" amount per year to claim tax write off? If he doesn't make much in the next few years would we have to pay stuff back? Are there disadvantages you know of and can share?

His goal isn't to get rich off photography by any means, but we're just trying to go about this the most financially responsible way possible.

    Thank you!

What are your marketing strategies for your business? Cold outreach? SEO?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 11:49 AM PDT

I've launched my store over the past year and have tried a few marketing strategies like cold email outreach and SEO. I haven't had much success with either of them so I was wondering what /r/smallbusiness does for their marketing outreach? Has anyone had success with SEO? If so, how long did that take? Are there any other marketing techniques you've done that has helped?

Collecting actionable feedback from customers is one of the most difficult parts of our jobs. We reached out to Alan Klement, creator of the Job-To-Be-Done Framework and author of When Coffee and Kale Compete, and put together a 20 minute session to help business owners understand the customer journey with the process required to ask better questions.

100+ matches on "business Tinder", no marketing co-owner.

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 09:41 AM PDT

For the past 5 months, I've been searching for a co-owner for a digital agency I registered in May. I've been on many sites, mostly Angel.co searching for a co-owner experienced in marketing. With 111 matches at the time of posting this, I still haven't found someone that fits the brand, has the experience, and the time. Everyone likes the idea and wants to join but either fall into one of the three categories:

    • Doesn't fit the brand.
    • Not enough time.
    • Found a different opportunity.

This is still a dream and vision of mine, so I'll keep persisting. Just here for ideas on how you would approach this because I'm running out of time to get things started.

How do you handle selling monthly subscriptions on shopify / woocommerce / etc?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2018 08:53 AM PDT

I have a SaaS platform that's relatively new so I've built my website on shopify. These eCommerce sites are mainly built to sell physical products once so it doesn't fit my use case well. There's a few shopify apps that can handle monthly reoccurring subscriptions but they can get a bit expensive.

What do you guys do? What software do you recommend to allow selling subscriptions via shopify, etc?
