Can Recruiters Do Their Damn Jobs? (Open Letter to Recruiters) Posted: 04 Oct 2018 08:15 AM PDT And just follow up with candidates that interviewed with you? I've had so many interviews where internal recruiters just straight up ghosted me after in-person interviews. "You'll hear back by next week" - two weeks eagerly waiting fly by and not a single correspondence. Good lord, it's like the wild west out here. You could have the best interview experience and still not get a single response back. How hard is it to just send a rejection email or just something (anything). Is common courtesy really too much to ask for? I get that you may have other things on your schedule but stop leaving your candidates in purgatory for the love of god! Not even a response to my follow-up email/call? What the heck are you guys really doing with your time? This HR culture in accounting really needs to change. Please feel free to share your worst and best recruiting stories. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Oct 2018 03:34 PM PDT Hey guys, So I made it through final interviews with PwC and I'm waiting to hear back. I honestly don't know how it went and the more time passes (I interviewed yesterday) the more I doubt I got the job. It seems as though if they really want you then they contact you pretty quickly. Anyway, one of the things the recruiters wanted to know was about any deadlines. Well, it's not really a deadline but EY just contacted me about setting up an interview. I would rather PwC based on location preference but I'm sure as HECK not turning down an interview with EY without an offer on the table. Should I send the PwC recruiter a notice about this? Would it come across as too pushy/needy? ETA: 22 minutes after this post PwC extended a verbal offer. Now to see if I can get some leverage... [link] [comments]

The day I **almost** got a perfect score on a Becker HW Posted: 04 Oct 2018 12:35 PM PDT I know most of you don't care but damnit I never have scored a perfect 100% on any becker HW, not even the short 9 question ones and I almost had it this time. Granted it is one of the easier chapters but it had alot of questions. Good luck and carry on to those studying for the exams for this quarter. I have 3 scheduled! [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Oct 2018 06:29 PM PDT Anyone else think it's time to straighten out these fucks? With all the delays with score releases, exam processing and licensing, etc. It's not right what they are doing to people. Think about it, we are paying $200+ per exam section and they treat us like SHIT. Who else has had bad experiences with NASBA? What can we do about it besides complain? I think we should all start asking for refunds whenever they drop the ball. They need to be held accountable just as any other organization would for POOR service. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Oct 2018 05:12 PM PDT A year out of college. Rejected after my EY video interview. No response from Pwc/Kpmg. Working in a small industry job while trying to bang out my CPA. I really don't want to let another recruiting season go by without me getting past the second round of interviews. Why is this so damn draining?? Pray for me that the on-campus event next week goes well. I'd do literally anything just to have the opportunity... I did fine in college... but clearly not well enough... :/ [link] [comments]
Any managers in here? How do you deal with staff retention? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 06:14 AM PDT Just lost a key staff member and pretty bummed out about it. I felt we treated him well during his 4 years at the firm, but clearly that's not the case because he left. How do you guys deals with staff retention? Here in the philly market. Is accounting advisory a bad idea? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 05:08 PM PDT I recently made the switch to big 4 accounting advisory (financial services) after 2 years in audit at a smaller regional firm. Didn't have any problem with audit but I felt like I wasn't learning as much actual accounting as I would've liked. Now I'm stuck on a project for the next ~4 months helping a client implement ASC 842. I'm worried that being in acct advisory too long won't really be great for career development. I'm interested in switching to transactions advisory (FDD) after 6 months to a year. Has anyone done this from accounting advisory before? [link] [comments]

PwC U.S. - Do you have 2 phones or one for work? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 08:26 PM PDT Love my phone number and only pay $40/m for coverage. That said, my phone is old af (S5) and I'd like a new one, but hate the prospect of having my business and personal phone be the same phone. I'd like a new phone for personal purposes, but idc what I have for business since I'd only use it for email and calls. So I have 2 questions. 1) Can I get a newer phone for myself, then integrate my personal phone as the work phone or do I have to use whatever phone PwC issues me? In other words, let's say I get an iPhone 8 from PwC. Can I use the 8 as my personal phone free and clear and then register my S5 as the work phone? I doubt it, but wasn't sure. 2) If I decide to use my sim and number to merge onto a new phone for both business and personal, will I get to keep my number if/when I leave? I love my number and it actually has sentimental value to me since it was my late mother's and she passed her phone down to me as a kid when she died, so I want to keep it badly. I'm also sketched since the firm retains rights to the phone. I don't need them seeing my messages or anything like that. Any thoughts on the whole having 1 phone bit, either good or bad? I appreciate any advice, opinions, and insights Cheers! [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Oct 2018 01:43 PM PDT I've got my final round interview with PwC coming up, and they are definitely my top choice so I'm more nervous than usual. Are the odds of getting an offer pretty good once you get to this round, and does anybody have any tips? (I'm an undergrad looking at audit internship, on-campus interview went well) [link] [comments]
Anyone else find AUD incredibly boring to study for? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 02:27 PM PDT I just took far and am studying for AUD now. Going through the test bank for FAR wasn't too bad as you are actually solving things, but for AUD it's pretty much all just asking you about standards. I don't know how I'm going to motivate myself to keep doing these problems. [link] [comments]
Received EY Offer & "Spotlight Day" Posted: 04 Oct 2018 02:26 PM PDT Howdy everyone. I've been a longtime lurker on this sub and it's been great resource for learning about the recruiting process, among other things. I just got my FT Assurance offer from EY this week via phone call, so I wanted to share a little bit about the process beyond the video interview that seems to be all the rage this recruiting cycle. I completed my video round on a weekend and heard back the following Friday. I was extended an invitation to "Spotlight Day" aka final round the following week. This day was roughly 5 hours: a "panel" where partners discussed the assurance practice, two back-to-back 30-minute interviews with a partner/manager, an office tour, and lunch with your "host" (seniors). I thought the day was relatively painless; while there were some behavioral questions they were *not* like the video interview. They included "how do you manage your time/a busy schedule?" or, "tell me about a time things did not go as planned for you..." etc., with the usual "tell me about yourself/walk me through your resume," "why EY?" "why public?" "why accounting?" mixed in. They were most definitely more conversational and gave an opportunity to show your personality and relax a little bit. If anyone has questions feel free to PM or ask... I am in not in a "major" U.S. city/high COL and do not yet know my salary/start date. Will likely get the "official" offer from the recruiter sometime soon. Cheers & Happy Interviewing! [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Oct 2018 07:14 PM PDT I'm a 3rd year accounting student who switched majors late and I have a limited relevant courseload. I have Small Business and Personal Tax, Business Law, Financial and Managerial Acct, and Intermediate Acct 1. Yet by some miracle I've managed to land two internships, one during Busy tax Season, and one next summer. Is there anything I can study on the side to help me succeed in my internships? I'd like some real world advice. [link] [comments] |
