Mu, lost about 27%, just call it quits and move on to my investments that actually are going green?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2018 08:14 AM PDT

Im probably gonna wait the ER and see what happens but being down this much really sucks as about 80% of my portfolio was in it for quite a while.

Other stocks have been up 10% to 40% but I'm still expecting a decent run to atleast 55 and the buyback etc.

I wont make a profit but I would like to minimize my losses now instead of thinking of green only

    Data for fundamental analysis

    Posted: 06 Sep 2018 05:26 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I'm currently looking for some data access that could help me with with verifying my fundamental approach. I'd need data to build fundamental strategy and then have data that would allow me to test it for past x number of years. As paid options are very expensive, is there any alternative?

    Best Biotech Stocks

    Posted: 06 Sep 2018 08:00 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

What are some of the best biotech stocks to buy right now. I'm trying to hit big on something cheap.

Right now I'm very interested in Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals which just jumped 50% today but I'm not sure whether I should wait for the price to come back down first.

Also Inovio Pharmaceuticals seems very promising. I went through the team of researchers and it looks top of the line. I guess the price target is around $15 so do you think it will get there?

    Thoughts are appreciated,

    Thanks

What are some non-tech stocks you like?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2018 07:45 AM PDT

My portfolio largely consists of tech stocks like AMZN, BABA, MSFT. This has been going well for me for the few months I've been investing but I know that I need to diversify so that when weeks like this happen I don't get destroyed like I currently am.

The only two non-tech stocks I have positions in are TEVA and COST. I really like both of these but want to branch out from them.

Obviously I'm not going to invest solely off of random people's advice on reddit but I'd love to know what you guys are holding right now.

FedEx (FDX) - sell it all?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2018 02:25 PM PDT

parents got me this one last year and it's just been cycling up and down since and i only made a barely noticeable profit. i know it was good up until this year, and now it just takes big dips.

should i just sell it all or hold? maybe half? i don't really see any particular outlook with this company, and i could use the selling money to invest in other stuff.

I'm thinking WM is ripe for a pull back to approximately 89.70-89.50, recently started charting so I could be wrong, and would like to use that as an entry point for a long position. Thoughts? LMK if I'm off for posting this here.

    Upwork files for IPO

    Posted: 06 Sep 2018 10:35 AM PDT

This looks pretty interesting. Sort of like Uber but for freelance developers/designers, and has a history of profits. The company I used to work for used them to fill gaps and was pretty happy with it.

    From Crunchbase:

"Upwork doesn't rank among the fastest growing companies that have filed to go public this year, but it also loses far less money. Even more, the firm has generated GAAP profits (inclusive of all costs) at times in the past, and it has recently-improved gross margins.

We'll start with growth. Upwork expanded its revenue 23.2 percent from 2016 to 2017. In dollar terms, the company recorded $164.4 million in total revenue in 2016 and $202.6 million in 2017.

The company's more recent growth rate is slightly better. In the first half of 2017, Upwork had top-line revenue of $95.5 million. In the same period in 2018, the company had revenue of $121.9 million. That works out to 27.6 percent growth."

How to find average annual return?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2018 02:20 AM PDT

Hey guys, I'm just getting into investing. I'm trying to compare the "average annual return" of stocks that my 401k offers to S&P 500. I've tried different websites but none of them say anything about average annual return.

It seems like MACD is the default indicator. If I just look at the chart of S&P 500 and another stock and compare the MACD, does that show me the average annual return?

If not, is there any way I can easily compare average annual return of different stocks?

    Thank you for your time.

    Can anyone explain wash sale?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2018 02:13 PM PDT

I am kinda new to investing and I am having trouble understanding wash sale. This occurred in my individual account. I bought 100 shares of APHQF on 4/26/2018 and sold all shares on 8/10/2016 for a loss of $12.55.

Today I bought 400 shares of APHQF at $13.85 in the individual account and have not sold (I don't really plan on selling anytime soon either). There is a "w" character next to that investment indicating wash sale. Can anyone explain what that means? Did I mess anything up or do anything stupid? I do have other accounts but they are tax advantage like a ROTH where I am investIng in APHQF also. Is it wrong to invest in the same security in multiple accounts? (I never thought it would be a bad thing). I also use TurboTax for taxes so I was just planning on importing whatever files fidelity gives me for investments into it. Does that still work for TurboTax even with a wash sale?

    Thanks for the help!

    Canadian Bank investing opp?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2018 08:01 AM PDT

As all of you know, the Canadian cannabis industry has taken off over the course of the last two years. Quickly approaching the legalization date of October 17th, these cannabis companies will have to start investing their cash with Canadian banks, no? I was just looking for some input as to what you guys think about investing in Canadian banks? Are there any specific banks that will be taking the risk or that have already locked up deals? APH, ACB, WEED are all highly profitable companies looking to invest their money, are they not?

    Alibaba, why?!

    Posted: 06 Sep 2018 11:04 AM PDT

First time investing and yes, I put bought a lot of shares into Alibaba when their stocks were high ($204) and TCECHY ($50) and now its $160... Ugh!!! Now I'm down $2300. Yeah so far my investments in individual stocks: Alibaba 60%, TCHECHY 40%. Not a lot of diversification going on.

I guess I just really suck at investing, or maybe didn't put a lot of thought into it. Any insights? I keep getting caught up in a hype like with B.C and buy when I should've just stuck to Betterment/Vanguard index funds or something.

One Share of BUD with dividend reinvestment plus additional Money sent.

    Posted: 06 Sep 2018 10:57 AM PDT

As the Title indicates, I purchased a single share of BUD in 1986, and received notices of Dividends, which I recall opting to re-invest. Fast forward today, I have the Stock in hand, and assume an account exists for the remaining growth. Would anyone care to help me realize the value? How best do I go about this? Thank You.

    Any thoughts on TEVA?

Read some positive and negative things about them. Mr Buffet bought some earlier this year.. wondering if it's on your watch or holding list.

    AeroVironment Earnings....stock went crazy today

    Posted: 06 Sep 2018 09:59 AM PDT

Overall I see AeroVironment as a solid company the only problem however is that I'm a bit skeptical in buying on a stock that posted strong earnings. Don't know should I buy now or wait what will happen tomorrow. Still I see the company as something for the future.

Feeling confused right now about entering AeroVironment :D
