Their earning per share is around $5-20 a share. Why are they worth that much if you're not getting much out of owning these stocks?

If you look at Amazon, their total asset is $131,310,000,000 for 2017 and they have 285,850,780 total shares, their asset/shares is only $459.35 yet the stock is worth around $2000.

Edited: google EPS is around $20 not $15.

Hi, I just watched this video from the user: Travellight, video named "how I afford to travel the world", and "How I trade on the stock market", https://youtu.be/vk8v3hOT5iY, https://youtu.be/vk8v3hOT5iY. Thought it belongs here. Some humor. (I do feel bad for sharing this as humor, if, if, what she says is true, I'll delete this)

Is there a book recommendation to start?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2018 08:50 PM PDT

Im 23 and about to start work out of college, luckily no debt and a degree in math. I want to not just rely on income and do some investing in the stock market as ive loved the idea since i was in middle school but didnt learn much of the basics. Is there a book out there that can help me get started or on how to choose a stock to buy? Thank you in advance
