How much do you pay for a CPA to do your LLC Taxes, quarterly and annually? Posted: 04 Jul 2018 11:03 PM PDT I can run everything else in my company, but the financial/tax part is just too overwhelming, I think I need a CPA. How much do you guys pay for a CPA? We're a new company, first year we made around 240K profit, planning on making more this second year. I'm not sure what small business is defined as, but I think we're a small business. We run an online business, pay expenses like web hosting, google adwords, emails marketing services, live chat, digital phones, merchant fees, etc. We run the business from home, no office rent or anything like that. It's not really that complicated, all expenses are already recorded each month. So with that said, does anyone have a similar setup and have a CPA that handles their taxes and other LLC obligations each year, and if so, how much do you pay for that CPA? Any suggestions when looking for a CPA, questions to ask them, red flags, etc? I appreciate it guys. I'm new here, will make sure to give advice when I can, and try to do research first before I ask a million questions :) [link] [comments] |
Is hiring a personal driver crazy? Posted: 04 Jul 2018 07:05 AM PDT My wife's business is now 3 years old, 100% word of mouth. She is currently spending anywhere between 2-4 hours per day driving and not able to get work done from the car. There literally aren't enough hours in the day and some of her work is getting less attention than it deserves, we believe she's lost some business. On top of that, a good amount of personal and business errands are not able to get done. We're thinking of hiring someone for ~$40k as a driver/runner/security. I should mention there is some danger to what she does, she operates in some not so great neighborhoods, at night so having someone around is peace of mind. Context:
I know it sounds ridiculous, because it is, but for me, I figure her hours are better spent working than driving and honestly having protection at night is pretty important for me. (Uber is not a solution). I should note the 2nd associate is brand new so I'm including her as an expense but I'm not increasing our GOI to reflect the additional revenue we'll be able to bring in. Lastly, due to my business I can potentially use him for site supervision, it's not a lot of work but it'll add to the hours. I'd really like to hear everyone's thoughts. Thank you all and Happy 4th of July! [link] [comments] |
Do you use a social media tracker? If so which one and why. Posted: 05 Jul 2018 12:30 AM PDT Thanks for reading! I'm wondering about the difference between free social media trackers and the ones that charge a monthly fee. Any input would be much appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Can anyone recommend a well experienced Logo Designer? Posted: 05 Jul 2018 03:22 AM PDT Been looking for a better logo made for my company for a while but have had a hard time finding someone with the same vision as I do, plus there's alot of fake designers out there who just steal other ideas from shutterstock.com. If anyone can recommend one, that would be great, PM me or reply here. [link] [comments] |
Business Director Compensation Plan (evolving) Posted: 04 Jul 2018 09:46 PM PDT Hello! I work for a company in another country, I'm their business director in my country. They are ~3 years old, and doing very, very, very well. I'm coming up on my 1 year review, and I'm consistently putting in 50-65 hour weeks the last several months to get us operational. I'm on Salary, and would be making 25% less than my newest retail hire if I divided my hours worked by the salary they are paying me. What I'm wondering is, my one year review is coming up. I want to be fair, but I also want to have some skin in the game so that I know my hard work is working for me, not just for someone else. That being said, it is in their best interest to not give me equity, as it will be worth a ton in a few years as we keep growing at a crazy rate. What I'm wondering is: how can I approach my 1 year review to let my boss (CEO) know I feel like I should be compensated differently (skin in the game) for my (I'd call it above average) work? How do most Business Directors receive compensation? Should I ask for shares in the business that was formed in my country? Would a bonus structure be appropriate? What sort of KPIs are targeted for that type of compensation? That would make me satisfied and happy working weekends and evenings to keep it going if I knew I was building my future, not just being worked hard. Again, I want to be fair and reasonable; I'm being expected to sometimes pull 70 hour weeks on salary, and just want to know that I'm trading my life for something meaningful, and want to get that point across. An ERP System for your business Posted: 05 Jul 2018 12:27 AM PDT Use Odoo/OpenERP application for your business: ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning. And Open Source ERP is a software system whose source code is available for publicly use. Its mean that every company can use or modify ERP source code as per their need their is no restriction because its Open Source. To modify an existing source code of an ERP systems the company needs high professional and skilled team of developers. For example Odoo/OpenERP/Open Source ERP provide some built-in modules such as HR,Project etc. Now its depend on companies how they modify and use their source code as per their needs. Inventory System for brick & mortar going online Posted: 04 Jul 2018 11:16 PM PDT Hi, I run a small local health food store with over 10k skus that we are trying to get online and an inventory system running. Previous management set up Bogue; had a lot of trouble with the people she hired, sunk in over $15k into it. I stepped into the role and continued with the same people. All of us thought that she just didn't know what she was doing... We have been working hard to get it up and running, in fact hiring two people over the last 8 months to get it done. In the 8 months we have had to restart our data entry twice. We were going along at a good pace the last little while, we bought a magento website to integrate into the POS system which we need with so many products. It's beautiful and almost complete. Today the owner/trainer of the POS informed me that we need to restart our data entry a third time. I basically told him told him that wasn't happening and he needs to solve the problem himself without my staff. I want to fire him and try to recoup our expenses, including the wages we've spent trying to set up the system if I can. I want to hire a new agency to get us up and running. Its incredibly frustrating that he doesn't just tell us what to do but slowly over time bits and pieces. It shouldn't be this hard. We should not have to redo data entry again and again. What can I do? What other inventory management systems integrate with Magento? Can I hire another agency to help us set us up using the same system? We need correct training and someone who doesn't hate women or think women are stupid like this guy has made explicitly clear. I already requested to work with the other partner, but was denied as "we are not in his territory". I am going to research more and see what options I have, possibly speaking to a lawyer about recouping the costs. I'm not sure if we will just have to end up writing this off as an expensive bad decision or not though. Thoughts? Suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Tips for social media education peace? Posted: 04 Jul 2018 06:26 PM PDT So I work for a small family owned telecommunications company - their social media presence has been very flat and the boss wants me to run some social media campaigns not so much to drive sales but to help educate people around the National Broadband Network (Australia) so at the very least we can help educate the community a bit more. A lot of our sales are from IT referrals and such as we offer a low contention internet service and fairly cheap SIP services, phone systems, along with gps car trackers, domain hosting, etc - so sales aren't a big issue as we're going through a large amount of growth. The main points we want to try and educate the community about is the different types of connections NBN has, what can cause issues with your connection (internal wiring, etc), rouge salesman (telling people their phone system is dated, and then selling them another analogue system for 10x the cost. In general I'm hoping to work out whether graphic information is better received (getting a picture with some key points) or a break down of text, or just some key points linking to the company website? Has anyone had any experience with their business and able to share some pointers? [link] [comments] |
Help Me Make My Website Better By Critiquing It Posted: 04 Jul 2018 06:23 PM PDT Hello /r/smallbusiness, I have just finished the vast majority of my site, and I'd like to have some help on what needs to be improved. I know there's still a few things that need to be tweaked (information wise). Basically I want to know if the website is easy enough to navigate, if you think widget A should be moved where widget X is, if you think adding widget g to the homepage would convert more traffic, etc. Most importantly, I've been working on making an ideal landing page, and I'd like to know if my CTA and free offer is strong enough to encourage people to fill out the simple form. If you needed a roof, and clicked my AD on a google ad, would you decide to fill your email in? Is it enticing? Please note I know that a lot of my information is entirely incorrect. Partially because I haven't had the time to fill it in, also partly because I don't want to break rule 3. My actual domain has not been added, and the contact forms will not be forwarded to me even if you decided to fill them out, so PLEASE! Critiques only. Click Me To Go To The Website Homepage Click Me To Go To The Website Landing Page Any advice is appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Jul 2018 05:33 PM PDT My husband and I began helping children together 2 years ago. I had a youth center for 13 years. Back in Virginia we always had the church support because my parents are pastors. Last year we moved to Phoenix Arizona and it has been difficult building support because we don't know anyone. We know that we have to continue our vision but how do we draw people that are not familiar with our brand? This summer we still held events for the children in our community but they get experience. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Group on Facebook for small business owners Posted: 04 Jul 2018 04:22 PM PDT Hey guys! I made a group on Facebook that caters to small business owners and it basically discusses many problems business owners have. It also allows for networking! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Jul 2018 03:46 PM PDT So since it's summer break I'm planning on getting a job at some local small business(restaurants etc.) and was wondering, does the minimum wage of $10.10/hr(I'm in Hawaii) also apply to youths under 18? In other words the minimum wage also includes teenage workers? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Jul 2018 03:34 PM PDT So my dad owns a small ice cream shop and he spends all day there 7 days a week. (He has empoyees too) He also hand makes the ice cream, with a machine of course. But he sells each scoop for USD$5, does this seem to be worth it? [link] [comments] |
Pleas help me handle this staff issue. Posted: 04 Jul 2018 11:33 AM PDT I run a yoga studio. I have an instructor who is very confident and loved by many students. She's a pain in my ass but she does good work. So the other day I told her that she is welcome to use the space for personal practice and that led to her saying "is it still okay if I use the space on Tuesdays and Thursdays" and I said why? And she said she had a private client. I said, she can RENT the space from me and the client will sign a waiver. I said the offer was for her personal exercises not clients. So I gave her a discount since it was her client she was bringing in and she works for me (she also said the person would likely start taking classes from my studio once they got over the jitters) Today I was there subbing her class and her private client showed up asking general questions about a yoga mat. The convo led to her telling me about the private lessons she does with that instructor. I said, "how do you know (instructor)?" And she told me she walked into my studio to ask about lessons and that instructor sold them to her. I am so hurt and angry. How should I handle this situation. [link] [comments] |

I need ideas: Startups/Companies doing well in your area? Posted: 04 Jul 2018 12:01 PM PDT Hey everyone. A long time lurker here. I have some experience in local business start ups. Currently have four employees in my company and things are running smooth. I hired general manager few months ago so I could start working on another project. I´ve been thinking of storage business or healthy vending machines, since there is a both demand and lack of competition in that sector where I live. Do you have any other ideas of businesses in your city that are doing well and are profitable for early adopters in rural markets. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Jul 2018 07:58 AM PDT First off, I want to thank everyone in this sub. I love reading all the stories and the questions that pop up here. As a small business owner of a strange/ niche business, I love to hear all the goings-on of the group. In less than 48 hours I will be a father (again) to a little baby boy. My 2 and a half-year-old little girl is as excited as could be! My wife and I have decided to both take two months off of work (hers being covered by family medical leave act as she has a conventional position). I've been recently busting my butt to hire people to start taking over my work as a traveling Physical Therapist where I treat people in their homes. I can't say that I am going to be making the same money while I am off for two months, but it will be something to contribute to the household. Send your well wishes and good advice and keep the sub amazing. Hopefully, I will still have a business to return to in two months :-) [link] [comments] |
