Have I stuffed up my invoicing numbers? Posted: 30 Jun 2018 01:19 AM PDT I have separate folders for each client and each client's invoice is labelled 1 - whatever. So John's invoices are inv.1, inv.2, inv.3 etc and I have no trouble telling these apart from Karen's invoices which are also labeled inv.1, inv.2, inv.3 etc. Do they HAVE to be distinctly separate numbers or can they be the same so long as I can clearly differentiate between the two? I think I made a big ole' mistake [link] [comments] |
Invoice or website with options Posted: 29 Jun 2018 11:00 PM PDT I own a small print shop and we set up digital proofs online for customers. We currently have them call in and take payment over the phone, but I would like a way to easily plug in a proof, send it and have them approve and pay online. I know there are a few PayPal invoice options but was unsure what else someone might recommend. Ideally in my mind it would be a yes I like it and got to payment or no I don't and let us know what you don't like. When they get to approve I would also like add ons and shipping options. Such as, hey get these items for discounted rate and here are all your shipping options. This is perfect world stuff and I don't know if someone knows about a program or this is all custom things for a web development company. [link] [comments] |
Finally did it: launched the new website and got 10 clients! Posted: 29 Jun 2018 06:41 PM PDT Just wanted to share because me and my co-founder are over the moon pumped that we were able to finally hit our goals (for June!). Our best website is launched and fully completed and we just signed 10 clients for basically all of our services! Most are local but we'll be working on branching out slowly. Honestly a lot of the business side of things came from reading I've done on this thread so thank you guys! If anyone has any tips to improve things, please let me know! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Jun 2018 03:53 PM PDT Hi I'm Jon and have started an online store selling what I believe to be some pretty cool gadgets and electronics. I have been getting my traffic to the site up and up, but am not getting anywhere as far as conversions and I was hoping I could maybe get some help from the good folks here. Before I fork out money to some contractor... and they just tear my site a new one Hahaha jk. Anyway Here's the website. Caliroast.com [link] [comments] |

I'm doing some market research and was wondering if anyone would like to help! Posted: 29 Jun 2018 06:00 PM PDT As the title says, I'm doing market research for my web development company, and I was wondering if some of you guys could help me. I have a few short questions I was hoping those of you who already have a website could answer for me! If there are any questions you do not feel comfortable answering, feel free to skip them. You can either leave the response as a comment or as a pm. Here are the questions. Considering this is sort of a community driven effort, I would be happy to share the results with anyone who is curious! Just shoot me a PM! [link] [comments] |
Question about new business name Posted: 29 Jun 2018 03:58 PM PDT Hi everyone, I'm an artist and will be renaming my business for several reasons. I sell original artwork, fine art prints, and greeting cards mainly, but will also be expanding to sell handmade ceramic coasters soon. I am torn between picking a name that has a lot of meaning for me but nothing to do with my own name (Primrose & Birch Art), or doing what many artists do and just using my own name (Abigail Bubiak) for my business. Basically, one option would be to use "Primrose & Birch Art Studio" for my website, store, and social media, and include my personal name under "artist" on the business cards, about page, etc. So my real name would be visible and included, but not the main "brand", if that makes sense. I would be operating under more of a studio name. The other option would just be to use my name, Abigail Bubiak, as the main "brand". www.abigailbubiak.com. And use that for all social media, etc. Honestly, I love Primrose & Birch, but ultimately I want to choose a name that will be successful and will help my business. I don't know that my real name has a great "ring" to it though. Any advice or feedback? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 02:31 PM PDT My team and I are looking for small business owners (no business is too small!) that have opinions and are interested in sharing them in paid research opportunities. If you, or anyone on your team or in your network, are interested, please fill out this short survey about your business, and we will be in touch if you are a good match for future research projects. If you know of other businesses that are new and may be interested - please feel free to pass along. Thanks so much! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 12:42 PM PDT I was just introduced to Odoo as a all-in-one app that can take care of almost everything you might need. (website for reference): https://www.odoo.com/ Anyone have experiences with this and would care to share? I'm interested in checking this out for my hobby's retail store. Thanks in advance! Any good resources or personal tips for small business to business sales leads? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 11:48 AM PDT Hi everyone, thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and respond. I "open" for business on Monday July 2nd selling and producing apps and PWAs for small businesses. Most small businesses could use an app or even need one so I am going to be trying to fill that need so smaller business can compete with some of the big boys. I have done sale sin the past, but it was more along the car sales side in terms of the need and want was already there, I just needed to show them why me and not my competitors. This was with fundraising. Schools etc need to fund raise just as a family needs a vehicle. With selling apps to small business it's a bit different and no one is going to be calling me for a bit until I get my name out there and some referrals. So before then I obviously need customers, and I have to find them. Anyone know of any resources to obtain lists of small businesses (or something to that effect). Or if any of you have ideas I would love to hear them. My current plan is literally boots to the ground after some simple googling for the business owner or GM and to get in front of them face to face. Other than that I am not sure what else I should do to help increase finding potential clients without wasting too much time literally going door to door from business to business. Posted: 29 Jun 2018 08:59 AM PDT I currently run a small business. We are going in debt to previous partner stealing items from the store. I currently am behind in payments to my distributors and I need to place an order. I can't seem to find a way to get ahead. Any one with ideas that can help me through this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 08:57 AM PDT Anyone have any experience with this. Two marger products appear to be Boxcryptor and FileBolt. Want a way to partition a portion of my business drive to keep some pricing docs that I have mobile access to. Any advice? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Jun 2018 08:33 AM PDT I am interested in starting a mobile grooming business and was wondering how to accept payment when just starting out. Do you recommend starting as cash only until I build the clientele and revenue to register as a legitamige business or do you recommend investing in a mobile POS system from the get-go. Mind you, I'm starting very small to see of this will be a profitable venture for me. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Does the word “marketing” scare you? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 02:25 PM PDT I'm trying to find a way to help small businesses with their marketing. I have been looking for people willing to work through a process but even offering free help (so I can prove my abilities) people are reluctant. I've begun to wonder if small business owners are scared/frustrated with marketing... Or maybe the term "marketing" is so broad that they feel intimidated? At any rate, I've begun to wonder if I should focus on taking the frustration and fear away rather than be a coach to help them along. So how about you? How do you feel about the term marketing? Question regarding LTD companies with three shareholders and no employees Posted: 29 Jun 2018 08:04 AM PDT Hey Reddit,Myself and two others want to start a LTD company and register ourselves as shareholders. We will be working part-time on this with whatever time we can each individually throw in, there is also no physical office that we all gather at. We will be releasing apps and do not plan or want to take a wage or dividend from any profits until such a time the company account has enough profit to employ all three of us full time. My question is, although we will be 'working' in a sense on our products and wont be taking a salary or any kind of compensation, do we still need Employers' liability insurance? I have found almost no information, information I have found is often very vague. All I can seem to find is that if you have any employees or more than 2 directors you need the insurance by law (of which we will have neither). As it stands, we simply cannot afford it if it applies to us. Thanks for reading this far, if you have any insight into any of this I would be glad to hear it! TLDR: 3 shareholders, 1 director (by law), not taking salary or dividend, no physical office. Working on apps and releasing them in our spare time, are we required to have Employers' liability insurance? [link] [comments] |
IT Upgrade - Has anyone here done this before? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 07:16 AM PDT Hi /r/smallbusiness! Hoping you all can help me out - I recently purchased a small business. We have an existing software solution that has been in place for about the last 15 years. It works for our purposes but is definitely antiquated and clunky. I'm thinking about upgrading but admit that I do not know the first thing about IT / software implementation. I would love to hear about this process from someone who is not a software vendor. For example, one vendor said that moving to the cloud will be expensive and create unnecessary security risks - this doesn't sound right to me but I don't know enough to disqualify the vendor... So my question to you all is, what should I be looking for / cognizant of when beginning to consider an IT overhaul? Has anyone gone through this process? I'm happy to answer any additional questions I can to narrow the answers - I understand that this is an overly broad question. Also any recommendations for other subreddits to cross-post this into would be appreciated! Thanks! [link] [comments] |
