CA becomes fourth state to sue Naviant Posted: 29 Jun 2018 08:02 AM PDT I haven't read the suit yet to see what the gist is - will try to do so later today https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/28/business/navient-student-loans-california.html [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 05:45 PM PDT I'm peruvian and I was admitted to Aberystwyth University for the English Literature and Creative Writting course. My aunt was supossed to help my father pay my studies, but she lost her work. I was thinking about getting a private loan but FutureFinance requires a guarantor that lives on UK and I don't know anyone. Is there another option for me? What should I do? I don't want to lose this opportunity, my family can help me pay my living spends and I would work (of course) but they don't have enough to pay my tuition fees. And it's not like I'm planning on not paying or something. Please help me, I don't know any other options. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 05:41 PM PDT Does anyone know how changing repayment plans on federal loans affects the time left in repayment? For example, if you are 5 years into a standard repayment but then you switch to a 25 year extended plan are your monthly payments based on 20 years or 25 to pay off the loans from the date that you switch plans? Anyone ever deal with Navient? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 03:09 PM PDT I just started with this company. My monthly balance is very low and I was pretty excited to start this up and repay my student loans. I entered my account & routing number (copy&pasted numbers) and applied the payment. About a week later I was told that my bank declined my payment. I called my bank and they said nothing on their end was attempted. Maybe I put in the numbers wrong somehow? I entered them again this time by hand and made sure number by number was correct. I received a "thank you for your payment" email and figured all was good. 2 days later I received another email stating that I was overdue. I checked my bank and nothing was debited. I entered my bank account and routing numbers a 3rd time, copy and paste, done. I received another email today stating that I am overdue. Bank never was debited. I just tried the automated payment on their customer service line. I can't imagine that I am inserting the wrong numbers. Is this a known issue with Navient? My bank account is untouched with these payments. [link] [comments] |
When is the due date for the FAFSA Verfication Form? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 02:36 PM PDT I have to send one in but I'm working at a summer camp so I'm far away from home right now and probably won't be able to submit one in soon. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 05:57 AM PDT Within the next few months I'll start paying off my student loans. At first I thought the teacher loan forgiveness would be the way I'd go, but apparently unless you're a math teacher or a special education teacher you only qualify for $5000 instead of the $17500. Does anyone have experience with this? Should I just do the PSLF? Or just pay my loans off myself, I don't want student loan payments over my head for the next 10 years when I only owe ~25k [link] [comments] |
Sending in the "Income-Driven Repayment Plan Request" Posted: 29 Jun 2018 01:23 PM PDT Does anyone know where the fuck I'm supposed to send this form to? [link] [comments] |
Starting school soon and still a minor! Help! Posted: 29 Jun 2018 01:04 PM PDT I'm 17 and I'm trying to find ways to keep a fixed interest rate while I'm in university but have all the funds I need. I get 11k from FASFA and Pell grant from my school and I'm considering of applying to a Direct Subsidized loans from my school, however I'm still really really new to carefully budgeting and managing money. Any suggestions/ methods anyone has? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
What to know if i'm still acceptable for a HC2 certificate? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 03:31 AM PDT Currently receiving high maintenance Loan and I am unemployed living with my parents. Parents: Mom works minimum wage and Dad's engineer works for agency part time. [link] [comments] |
Working abroad and qualifying for PSLF Posted: 29 Jun 2018 08:41 AM PDT So I just recently had my loans switched to FedServicing, and I currently work at a qualifying non-profit and have for the past two years. I have about a year's worth (12 payments) in so far. I don't make a lot, about 38k, and my loans total to about 46k, so PSLF seems the way to go (I work in mental health so I don't have many options for private sector higher pay at the moment) However, Ive always loved to travel and I really want to work abroad while I'm still young and can, but I don't want to ruin my chances in getting my loans discharged. Would working abroad keep me qualified for PSLF if I find a nonprofit? What if I do forbearance or deferment for a few months? Any advice would be greatly appreciated [link] [comments] |
Help! Still in grad school, but one of my student loans has come out of deferment and... Posted: 29 Jun 2018 07:00 AM PDT More than anything, I wish I had listened to my father when he was telling me to apply for grants and scholarships to help pay for college. My dumb kid brain couldn't see past the weekend and refused to listen. Now I'm in buttloads of debt. As the title says, I am still enrolled in graduate school so the majority of my loans are in deferment. However, one loan (through a private company) has come out of deferment because I have hit the maximum allowance for deferring a loan through their company. I didn't even know that was a thing... I had to start making payments on this particular loan in March of this year. At the time of my first payment, my loan balance (including interest) was $17,307.18. Since then, I have paid a total of $600 and only lowered my balance to 17,079.86. That's only $227.32 paid towards the balance of the loan. No wonder people are drowning in student loan debt. Is there anything I can do to help this situation? I don't fully understand where the rest of my payments are going? Is interest being taken out of every payment? If so, how do I still have "current interest" on my account of $286.15? My interest rate is 6.00%, is there anything I can do to lower my interest rate? I'm hoping to graduate next May, and then ALL of my student loans will come out of deferment and I'll have another ~$30,000 to worry about managing, so I would like to get this one under control/figured out as much as I can before I reach that point. I wish I could make larger payments right now, but I live on a grad school stipend...which is essentially enough to pay rent and other necessary bills. I might be able to swing slightly higher payments in the coming months when my husband gets a raise as we put all of our finances together when we got married and make payments on both of our student loans via our joint account. He is fortunate that he qualifies for IBR and public servant loan forgiveness, so we are making his minimum payments easily, however mine are weighing very heavily on us. Any advice on how to deal with this loan would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Edit: I just looked at my total loan amounts (from all the places I have borrowed from) and although I have paid $600 to date towards my student loans, my current total balance for ALL of my student loan debt has INCREASED by $97.96 since February! WHAT?! [link] [comments] |
