    Market today

    Posted: 28 Feb 2018 07:22 PM PST

How do almost all shares drop at the same time, like today? Is it because a fund, such as mutual or ETF, unloads shares?

Is there a Stock related calendar?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 07:32 AM PST

My current assumptions are that these market dips of this week are related to the news coverage on the fed chair talking to people on capital hill. I did not know much ahead of time about these meetings from yahoo or any other financial news outlets. Is there a place where there is an updated calendar that I can quickly glance at and see these meetings scheduled before they happen or even before announcements of economic related numbers come out? My portfolio would definitely benefit.

Stock market study: this is one of the longest streaks above the S&P 500's 200 day moving average

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 12:47 PM PST

What the results of this study imply:

    1. The next big correction or bear market is at least months away.
    2. A big correction or bear market starting in 2019 is likely (probably in 2nd half of 2019).
    3. This is looking more and more like a repeat of 1998-2000

    2017 Roth IRA Contribution?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 06:13 AM PST

I recently opened a Roth IRA with Fidelity. When transferring money to it the app gives me the option to select either 2017 or 2018. Does this mean that I can select 2017, transfer 5,500, then select 2018 and transfer another 5,500? Is that legal or is it just something that shouldn't be available in the app?

What happened last time when market was so pessimistic regarding future interests rate?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2018 11:55 PM PST

i'm pretty new, only a year experience in the equity market. I am actually from Asia and people in the investing forum are panicking like crazy due to the hawkish statement from the FED. On the other hand, I do not get what is there be panicking about. I do not believe that is as simple as FED will increase the interest rate, therefore stock prices are going to fall through the roof. If so, the market will be so easy to predict..

edit: SP500 Index is back to December 2017 levels, erasing all the gains from January, are people getting way ahead of themselves now?

Part 2: What happened last time when market was so pessimistic regarding future interests rate?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 02:24 PM PST

I have posted this question to a few subreddit with the intention to hear out more opinion.

    r/investing:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/investing/comments/813iwj/what_happened_last_time_when_market_was_so/

    r/stocks:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/stocks/comments/813nbp/what_happened_last_time_when_market_was_so/

    r/stockmarket:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/StockMarket/comments/813l9s/what_happened_last_time_when_market_was_so/

In general, the feedback I got was:

From r/investing: Cannot really decide. Too small of a sample size.

From r/stockmarket: 2 most upvoted comments was that the current fear of interest rate hikes is just NOISE.

From r/stock: pretty good response. What I extracted out was: it is right to be fearful now.

After hearing out the forum opinion, what I got out of it is:

I cannot predict the future but I have to at least know where the market direction currently stands.

    Wash Sale and Average Down

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 01:46 PM PST

If I buy 10 shares stock A at 120 then the price fell to 100 and I purchased another 10 shares at 100;Average 110. Later, I sell all 20 shares at 112 for a gain. Would that still trigger sale sale if I try to repurchase it since my original 10 shares are at 120.

A very interesting and fast growing company.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 11:59 AM PST

I found a very interesting company that I want to share here. This is a fast growing company with high margins that will most likely be acquired sooner or later. It's basically a monitoring software that ties into existing hardware at the patients home. The healthcare team and family will be able to see if there is something wrong with the patient, and act upon that. It can obviously do a lot more than that.

Stock is already up quite a bit, but I think there is a lot more of room to grow. They are also planning to get listed on NASDAQ. Recommend everyone checking it out. Company name: Reliq Health Technologies Inc

    Dividend Payouts Every Week

    Posted: 28 Feb 2018 04:26 PM PST

I'm looking for monthly dividend companies, either REIT'S or BDC's that have payouts at different weeks in the month. I figure four companies with different payouts could get you paid every week. Right now I own GAIN and O, I've been following both since 2015 and really like them. GAIN pays in the 4th week and O in the 2nd week. I've noticed that it's kind of rare to find a BDC or REIT that pays in the 1st or 3rd week of the month. Does anyone have a portfolio like this or know of any monthly dividend companies that pay in the 1st or 3rd week?
