    Chegg?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 07:44 AM PDT

Down 15% on this beast, I bought it at the very tippy top somehow. I believe in the company but I also believe in GE and that one has made a fool out of me for the past year. At times with volatility like these I'd prefer to be in something a little safer.

That being said, should I sell Chegg and put the money into some of my mutual funds? At least I know those funds are invested correctly...

Started investing about a month ago. I know people say you should not try to “time the market” but essentially I’m asking, should I time the market?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 03:10 PM PDT

So I started investing about a month ago. Mainly with robosdvisors that generally follow the market closely. Also with M1 that gives the option of choosing fractional shares and a little more control to the user. So far, in all, I've invested about $1,000. I had originally planned to invest about &5,000. All of my portfolios have had losses averaging about -2.5%. I'm not too concerned about the short term loss but am wondering if considering the current market, it would be wise to take a wait and see approach before investing more.

Edit: I should add that I have a very long-term out look. 10 years plus.

    DocuSign unveils IPO filing

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 03:03 PM PDT

Last year saw $381.5 million in revenue, up from $250.5 million the year before. Losses for last year were $115.4 million in revenue, down from $122.6 million for 2016.

"We have a history of operating losses and may not achieve or sustain profitability in the future," the company warned in the requisite "risk factors" section of the prospectus.

The filing reveals that Sigma Partners is the largest shareholder, owning 12.9 percent of the company. Ignition Partners owns 11.7 percent and Frazier Technology Ventures owns 7.2 percent.

Kleiner Perkins also invested and partner Mary Meeker serves on DocuSign's board, but the firm's ownership was not high enough to meet the 5 percent threshold for the filing. The same is also true of Scale Venture Partners, with managing partner Rory O'Driscoll serving on the DocuSign board.

Time to move away from tech?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 03:10 PM PDT

Yes, no, maybes, and your reasoning.

My vote is yes for the short term. Volatility doesn't treat tech well.

Indexing - Buying the same index at different brokers? - Long Term Risk.

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 11:43 AM PDT

With ETFs being relatively new, it wouldn't be surprising if some ETF's and brokers aren't around in 30+ years. I understand ETFs like VOO, VT etc. have the best chance of surviving long term but my question is this: do any of you split your funds among multiple brokers for the same index incase either the fund or broker is closed? (Assuming no commission and same MER).

Assuming you intend to hold long term (30 years+), realizing a capital gain after 20 years because the fund/broker closes wouldn't be ideal.

    Thoughts?

Why does it take brokers so long to handle mergers and reverse splits?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 05:24 AM PDT

I have a stock, ENRJ, that just did a merger and reverse split. It took affect yesterday. I'm using Robin Hood and I haven't been able to trade this stock and it value is missing from my portfolio. Why does it take so long for them to complete the process?

What do you think of BA?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 07:41 AM PDT

BA's stock has gone down almost 10% the last 3 weeks. Why is that? When these "trade wars" die down will it start going up again? Where do you see it's stock price in 2 months?

    Roughly a grand to invest

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 06:41 AM PDT

Hey all, I've got roughly a grand invested in various stocks in E*TRADE and am considering consolidating them into one or two stocks. Right now they're in BTX , Netflix, AMPH, KTOS, and EARS. What moves look good to make or should I hold? I'm thinking about hold AMPH due to the opioid crisi and I think so all police departments and emts will be required to carry nalaxone on them. Which AMPH produces.

Also I have 6 grand in a franklin templeton biomed and dynatex mutual fund.

Investing in funds - continue to trickle feed each month or lump sums?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2018 12:07 AM PDT

Hi. I'm in the U.K. I started watching the stock market last year and invested at the start of this month. I've invested in a few funds in different sectors, about half of them are in tech. I've not put a lot in, the equivalent of a couple of hundred dollars into each. My question is with the recent fluctuations and such, should I trickle feed a little into each fund, or buy more of just one fund once a month?

Also before anyone asks, funds are much easier to invest in than US shares, no tax to pay etc and I feel it doesn't put all my eggs in one basket!

    Thanks

Buy USA listed or HK listed?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2018 11:40 PM PDT

What are the pro/cons of buying one or the other. Is it always beneficial (or not) to buy from the exchange where the company is more closely domiciled?

Situation: - Account currency: GBP - Listing of company in: HK & USD

    If someone could weigh in...thanks.
