Why shouldn't I long HSI or SSE if Trumps imposing Tariff on everyone?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:44 PM PST

The western world has always worked as allies and used trade tactics to limit China's growth(debatable). However, since Trump is making enemies out of our allies, I am seeing Euro zone and China work together for the future in responses to US's action. By this logic, I actually think the recent drop in HSI and SSE is one of the best opportunity to invest. What do you guys think?

5 great moves made by Netflix in the past few months and 5 other great moves we will like them to make before overtaking Comcast and Disney

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 12:10 PM PST

So with a market cap of $130.6 Billion Netflix is the third largest media & entertainment company after Disney with a market cap of $154 Billion and Comcast with a market cap of $169 Billion. Netflix will overtake both companies by end of 2018 becoming the largest media & entertainment company according to analysts. So here is a list of 5 great moves they already done and 5 move they need to do and so possible with $8 Billion in cash:

    Already Done

    • Original Programming in 2013 #1

    • Hiring Ryan Murphy [creator of Nip/Tuck, Glee, AHS, American Crime Stories, 9-1-1 and more] in 2018 for $300 Million #2

    • Buying MillarWorld Comics and making Mark Millar [Stan Lee of this Century] an executive #3

    • Expanding programming strategy to cater for all demographic, audience, nations, ethnic groups etc. #4

    • The Pacts with Marvel Television, Sky PLC, Comcast, T-Mobile, Virgin Media/Liberty Global, Verizon #5

    Need to get Done:

    • Big push on their gaming and consumer products strategy started last year [They made a Stranger Things game, Hired Disney exec for Consumer Products- Toys, Shirts, etc.] #1

    • DHX Media with a market cap of $400 Million is for sale an acquisition which will be a great steal will make them have the largest kids library [Peanuts, Strawberry Shortcake, Teletubbies, Inspector Gadget, suite of Family channels in Canada] or Lions Gate also for sale with a market cap of $5 Billion [Television production maker of OITNB, Film studios with IPs including Twilight, John Wick, and Starz premium cable networks] this could require more selling of bonds but it so do able so it #2

    • Invest in AR/VR or Blockchains #3

    • Already have the best analytic in the media & entertainment world hence the hit upon hit programs even Nielsen cannot rival so a little more investment on that #4

    • Buy more comic book publishers bringing them under Mark Millar's oversight #5

Note: The Need to get Done list are not really compulsory or need to be done now (urgently) but should in years to come before getting to a market cap of $500 Billion

Presented and Published by QS List a Quickisode brand.

Stock Tickers: main- NFLX; others- DIS, CMCSA, VZ, SKY, TMUS, LBTYA

    Sentiment on $F?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 09:39 AM PST

I bought it at $18 and I've just been bleeding money since (-40%). I thought it was a great business, though. Wondering what your sentiment is on it.

Think it’s too late to be buying NFLX?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 08:55 PM PST

NFLX is up a $100 a share since the first of the year. And read it will be number 1 or 2 in movie production by 2019. Do you think a major correction is on the horizon. For this stock. Or buy now, before I miss the bus? Just not sure if this stock is over or under valued at $300 a share.

I made a subreddit specifically for those of us interested in active investing.

    Posted: 03 Mar 2018 07:10 AM PST

A lot of the readers on this subreddit choose to go with a variation of an indexing and risk parity strategy for their investing, which is great. However, as someone who is interested in taking a more active approach, it would be nice to have a place to talk specifically about strategy without getting into a debate about passive versus active or some variation thereof.

I made a subreddit specifically for active management of portfolios and I'm hoping to have more conversation about specific strategies with whomever would like to do the same. If you're an indexer and just want to talk about strategy because you enjoy it, that's fine too. I only ask that any conversation about strategy does not devolve into active versus passive unless that is the topic of the thread.

Mods, hopefully you do not see this as a competitive subreddit, and rather view it as a sub with a more narrow focus on active management.

    Options Basics Tutorial

    Posted: 02 Mar 2018 11:00 PM PST

Nowadays, many investors' portfolios include investments such as mutual funds, stocks and bonds. But the variety of securities you have at your disposal does not end there. Another type of security, known as options, presents a world of opportunity to sophisticated investors who understand both the practical uses and inherent risks associated with this asset class.

The power of options lies in their versatility, and their ability to interact with traditional assets such as individual stocks. They enable you to adapt or adjust your position according to many market situations that may arise. For example, options can be used as an effective hedge against a declining stock market to limit downside losses. Options can be put to use for speculative purposes or to be exceedingly conservative, as you want. Using options is therefore best described as part of a larger strategy of investing.

This functional versatility, however, does not come without its costs. Options are complex securities and can be extremely risky if used improperly. This is why, when trading options with a broker, you'll often come across a disclaimer like the following:http://www.stockmarketways.com/2018/03/options-basics-tutorial.html
