My dad dropped me from health insurance out of spite, what to do? Posted: 05 Feb 2018 10:45 AM PST I am 24/female. He dropped me from health insurance without telling me on January 9th 2018. I found out today after going to Anthem's website and it telling me I no longer have coverage. This is the second time he's done this. I went to my HR department to sign up for coverage through my work, filled out the paperwork, and gave them a Termination letter that Anthem faxed me. I just got a call from HR telling me that the insurance lady says I do not qualify for special enrollment because I don't have proof that I am "no longer eligible for my current insurance". The fact that my father dropped me isn't reason enough. Any suggestions or advice? What can I do? I'm being told I can't sign up for 6 months. I can't not have health insurance for that long. I have contacts I need, two prescriptions and a bi-weekly doctor appointment I go to. [link] [comments] |
What happens when multiple insurance policies claim to be the "last payer"? Posted: 05 Feb 2018 03:40 PM PST I have three credit card travel insurance policies that claim to be the last-payers in all situation in addition to the travel insurance policy provided my by extended benefits plan. They can't all claim to be the last-payer, so what happens when the first plan is maxed out, and which credit card travel insurance policy would foot the bill first, second and last? All credit card insurance providers provide travel insurance regardless of whether or not the full fare is charged to the card. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2018 03:57 PM PST My car was rear ended. The driver gave a statement to her insurance, Progressive, and opened a claim on the spot with them. I did not open the claim with Progressive. I believe she admitted fault in that claim. Now the claims representative is saying she needs another separate statement from the driver in order to accept/deny the claim, but the driver is not responding to her. From what I've read, the law in California is: Within 40 days of receipt of the notice of a claim, unless the insurance company otherwise advises the insured in writing with reasons for delay and updates the reasons for delay every 30 days, an insurer must accept or deny claims in whole or in part and affirm or deny liability; Although an insurer can delay claims for 30 days with written notice, insureds should monitor such delays and can question the justification given for any delay. What this representative is claiming is if she doesn't get a second statement from the driver, they can delay through written notice every 30 days indefinitely. This seems absurd to me. It seems if the driver is purposefully avoiding giving a statement, that progressive needs to make a decision about the claim without that, especially since she already gave an initial statement when she opened the claim, which included admitting fault. And they've made a damage assessment at their facility. Is that a reasonable reading of the law? And what would the next steps be if this isn't resolved in 40 days for that reason? Recently graduated and looking for advice on getting into underwriting. Posted: 05 Feb 2018 07:50 PM PST I recently graduated a few months ago with my bachelors in Finance and I have been working in the accounting department of a small company for almost 2 years now. I'm starting the search for a new job now and I'm very interested in underwriting, particular when it comes to P&C. I worked in an insurance agency for a couple years as a csr and this has also contributed to my desire to get into this field. Any advice or steps I can take to get into underwriting with no actual experience in the field? I feel like it is something that fits me well and I could learn easily and I'm trying to get the ball rolling on this. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Friend borrowed my car and hit a deer Posted: 05 Feb 2018 11:01 AM PST Did a lot of damage to my car. Does his insurance cover it? Or will mine have to? Will my insurance go up? [link] [comments] |
Predicting comprehensive car insurance Posted: 05 Feb 2018 09:25 PM PST Say I know that getting comprehensive car insurance on a worth C, has rate R for me. Say a different car is worth 1.25 C. Is it reasonable to approximate the comprehensive insurance rate as 1.25 R ? I'm trying to build a calculator to compare different vehicles and cost of the insurance is one of the things I need to predict to compare lifetime ownership costs. I don't need things to be particularly accurate, I just need a decent guess that doesn't involve carefully entering all of my personal information into some online quote system. Thanks for any ideas, [link] [comments] |
Vehicle Stolen from Mechanic (may differ from other posts) Posted: 05 Feb 2018 09:11 PM PST Ugh.. So I'm a former broker and I am somewhat embarrassed that I need to reach out about this! I brought my 2005 Jeep (Bells and whistles with an 8 inch lift kit and 26 inch tires) into a reputable mechanic I have used for a few years. 6 weeks go by waiting for misc. parts and whatnot.. I'm told upon every update that the job keeps getting worse and worse (no price increase ever as we agreed that would not fly). I was called and told the vehicle was completed and the invoice was X amount and upon receipt we would be good to go. I paid the invoice Saturday and today (Monday Feb 5th) when I went to pick it up after getting my keys I asked where it was they said "Right out front".. It wasn't after calling in the police report (Denver, CO) and my Insurer (Full with all the Jazz) that I inquired to whom their Insurer was. They refused to tell me (However I was not dealing with any management they very well may not have been custodians of such info). I called the owner and found out they are covered by Farmer's (agent info and policy Jazz).. What's the best way to protect my vehicle's value (KBB 17k recent offers in range of 20k due to condition and options). I was conducting these repairs to sell the vehicle for 20k..... Do I approach Farmer's with an appraisal value and a demand? I'd obviously include supporting documentation for a value claim of this porportion.. Do I jump to Appraisal if I do not get a value near pre loss condition minus depreciation? How could subrogation be in my benefit or be avoided? TLDR: Jeep was stolen after repairs before acceptance of vehicle in a bailor bailee inland marine situation. Repairs were conducted to sell vehicle in good faith for 20k KBB looks like 17 without options and extra fancies. How do I not get screwed? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Hit and Run - Insurance Denying Supplement. What to do? [Re-up after accidental deletion!!] Posted: 05 Feb 2018 04:00 PM PST Hello all, Accidentally deleted this while sleepily trying to edit my post last night. Okay, so - my brand new car got rear-ended outside of work. Again. I've taken it to a reputable body shop that my family and I have been taking our vehicles to for years. Liberty Mutual - who has tried to screw me in the past on a number of things and I may be leaving after this - has determined that the bumper can be repaired and will only pay to have it repaired. The body shop has determined that it is not repairable to factory spec. A couple of things that factor into this decision by the Body Shop -
The price difference between repairing and replacing is about $300 - more in parts, but slightly less in labor. The repair bill thus far is about $1450 and change. How do I go about getting my bumper replaced? Photos of the damage are here: https://imgur.com/a/qYmTF [link] [comments] |

Question about State Farm auto policy- not listed as driver on spouse’s car? Posted: 05 Feb 2018 04:53 PM PST I just logged on my policy online for an unrelated reason and realized my husband isn't listed as a driver on my car. So I logged on as him and realized I'm not listed as a driver on his either. We primarily drive our own cars, but being married, we occasionally drive each other's for various reasons at times. If we get in an accident in the other person's car, are we totally screwed? Our agent knows we're married and we clearly live at the same address. What if I get pulled over for speeding- am I considered uninsured? Its not legal to drive uninsured in my state. [link] [comments] |
Penske is trying to void LDW?!?! Posted: 05 Feb 2018 04:51 PM PST Driving a rented 26 foot Penske truck and something hit us on the interstate (I believe it fell or flew off another vehicle but I'm not sure) and when we pulled over and looked the truck over we couldn't find any damage so we got back in and started driving. About twenty miles down the road, truck drivers were honking at us and pointing to our roof ...long story short pieces of the PLASTIC roof were flying off and hitting other vehicles. We switched the truck out with no issues but now they're trying to say we are responsible for all the damages because the damage was to the roof!! The exceptions do list damage due to height/width but I would assume that means driving under something without enough clearance. Any ideas what I can/should do here? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Claims adjuster is ignoring all facts when determining claims Posted: 05 Feb 2018 04:21 PM PST Hello so the claim adjuster of the other individual who was i the wrong is ignoring all facts of the case and refusing to make a determination of fault based on evidence. The other driver was ticketed on the scene for an illegal turn and driving with a suspended license over a two lane highway and the agent is now claiming its not a two lane highway even with photo evidence that demonstrates there is a separate two lanes and a white marker too show its two separate lanes. As well as signs showing its an illegal turn to do and the police officer and city all show its a separate lanes. My question is how do I get a new claims adjuster as she is ignoring all facts in determining fault, ignoring the police report and the city, as well as testimony all to avoid claiming liability. Health Insurance Covers No Medication Posted: 05 Feb 2018 02:47 PM PST Okay so I'm on my dads company healthcare plan which they have with Cigna. They cover doctor visits and exams usually but my dad says there's absolutely no prescription coverage. They gave us each an additional health savings debit card that has 37 dollars loaded onto it every two weeks starting at the beginning of the year. My birth control is 250$ so when I went to refill it, I had to pay out of pocket. I know insurance companies can be shitty, but I feel like there has to be something missing here? The debit card barely covers an antibiotic and doesn't reduce the price of any of my medication so I'm almost always paying out of pocket. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2018 02:47 PM PST Hey everyone, I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this question but I am super confused and need help. Long story short is that I was involved in a fender bender over 2 years ago with 5 cars on a highway. The accident was in Delaware and the law here is that if you are the last in line in a fender bender you are at fault for every car in front of you whether you touched them or not. Of course, I was the last car in the line of the accident. I can truthfully say that the accident wasn't my fault at all, it was a car that was a few in front of me. Which makes this situation even more crappy. Our insurance companies couldn't agree to who was at fault so the case went to arbitration. It was found that I was at fault and my low coverage of $10,000 was split between the other 4 individuals. I was told by Nationwide (insurance at the time) that because it was settled in arbitration no one can come back and ask for more money from me. Well, 2 years later I'm getting a letter in the mail from USAA stating that the $2,477.33 that was paid to them wasn't enough to cover the $5,753.75 that they paid their client. USAA wants me to pay a one time payment of $1,500 and I can abandon the remaining balance that is owed. They state "If you are willing to pay this amount, it would avoid possible legal action being filed." I'm just in shock because I was told this wouldn't happen! I'm planning on calling the number provided tomorrow to discuss this letter. But if anyone has any advice or can just let me know if I actually have to pay them this money, I appreciate it. Changing insurance-SR22 question Posted: 05 Feb 2018 02:07 PM PST Hi everyone, back in 2010 I received a DUI in California (also my residence). I went through the process, had it reduced to Wet reckless, attended the classes and paid the fines. However, neither the DMV or my insurance company or anyone ever sent me anything about needing an SR-22. Years went by and I bought a new car, continued with my same insurance and just kind of forgot about it. Nothing ever changed. But now I'm married and looking into starting a new policy with my wife (I was on my parents before). My worry is: now that I'm looking for a new insurance 8 years after the fact, is it likely somethings going to pop up about needing an SR22 when applying for a new policy and all of these issues will come up all of the sudden? What are the potential outcomes? Or should everything be fine and continue as normal. Thank you for any advice. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2018 01:56 PM PST Edit: This is in Michigan Driver did not speak english at all. Passenger who spoke broken english told PO that driver stopped in middle of road for no reason because he got confused. Which is the reason why my daughter rear ended him. The driver and passenger are here from South Korea on a Visa and were driving a rental car. (not sure if this is relevant or not) My daughter did not receive a ticket because PO said, "according to circumstances a ticket should not be issued in this instance." He send daughter off and still held the other people up. Daughter was not sure what was happening with them. She was given a piece of paper with a report number that hopefully she can obtain online in a few days. Daughter's vehicle only has PLPD, a light will need to be fixed, which we can do on our own. We will not be filling a claim through our insurance company. Rental car had a dent in the bumper. It is unknown whether or not the other driver obtained insurance through the car rental place. Advise as to how to proceed or if we need to do anything? [link] [comments] |
Renewing Insurance without legal title Posted: 05 Feb 2018 01:09 PM PST So my family car's insurance needs to be renewed and while we are the intended owners of the car the title actually is with with my brother who is out of state and currently out of contact due to family issues. (grandma gave car to my whole family before she died, title had to go to one person which is my bro). My question is what can we do to get around this? Is there any way to keep driving the car and avoid risking the heavy fines for driving uninsured in my state (WA), without getting the physical title directly from him? Any help is much appreciated. Strange auto insurance situation. What's the best way to go about this? Posted: 05 Feb 2018 12:48 PM PST My girlfriend and I live together. I don't have a car. She does. I don't have a license right now due to me needing an SR22 and not having an car to file insurance on(I know there are work arounds but that's not the question). I'm starting a business where I would need a car(Didn't need one before this). My girlfriend gave me the okay to use her vehicle if I get my license and make sure I'm insured. Here's where it gets hard: She's on her moms policy so she can't just add me to hers. The car is financed so I can't make a policy and insure the vehicle. If she drops off her moms insurance, her rate is VERY high(higher than mine with an SR22) so she doesn't want to do that. To have a license that is valid to drive, I need insurance. What course of action are we looking at here? Could I "rent" my girlfriends vehicle and pay her for it, then cover it under business insurance as a business expense? ANSWERED [link] [comments] |
Need some help with current insurance prices please? Posted: 05 Feb 2018 12:26 PM PST Hey I think I am paying way to much for car insurance. And don't know much about it to know the best move to make next. Hoping you guys can help. I am insured with state farm in the state of Florida and pay $187. Single, 29 years old. 2014 VW Jetta. No accidents or tickets. My policy: 50/100/50. No fault. Comprehensive $500. Collision $1000. I have emergency road side. Car rental. And uninsured driver 50/100. Is this normal price for this plan? Should I shop around? Is anything on here able to be adjusted safely to save some money. Any help is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Why do reserves not rise then fall in whole-life contracts, despite the premium-payment pattern ? Posted: 05 Feb 2018 06:04 AM PST Hello people! Please assist with my school assignment. In the Whole-life insurance contract, policyholders pay more premium initially and then pay lesser in the later years. It is expected that reserve would reach a peak and then decline. But this isn't so. What's the reason? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2018 11:49 AM PST I've contacted their office, but none of them are getting back to me. I am not getting any more bills after that full month charge, so it seems like they have properly cancelled it. What would be the best way to get my prorated money back? [link] [comments] |
3 Car Accident Whose Responsible Posted: 05 Feb 2018 06:44 AM PST I was recently involved in a three car accident. I was stopped in traffic when a third car failed to stop causing the car directly behind me to rear end me. This third car was ticketed for failure to stop but has no insurance. How would I go about filing claim. Would the actual car that hit me be responsible or do I file a claim with my insurance under my uninsured coverage? [link] [comments] |
Insurance of A.M. Best rating of B + Posted: 05 Feb 2018 10:27 AM PST So I'm doing homework on insurance and it says. The Supplier hereby agrees to put in effect and maintain insurance for the Term, at its own cost and expense, with "insurers having a secure A.M. Best rating of B +" or greater, or the equivalent. What is A.M, Best rating of B+ insurance? I tried searching, but couldn't find anything. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2018 09:54 AM PST So was hit by a car on my motorcycle 2 months back. The other driver is 100% at fault. After asking for an update from solicitor I received this message, what does it mean. (I'm in the UK)
We received an admission of liability on the 24thJanuary and set the evidence away to invite an offer on the 28th January.
The third party insurer have a period of up to 6 weeks to come back to me with an offer. Any help on this would be great Thanks reddit [link] [comments] |
