    business question from Movie help?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2018 08:00 PM PST

I recently watched the movie Richie Rich and there was this one scene in the movie where the following scenario was posed:

Your company is in dire straits. Sales are down 50% due to stiff price competition. Dividends are falling. Stockholders are demanding that you step down as chairman of the board. Now, here's your problem: How do you rally the board of directors to your side AND stave off impending bankruptcy?

The correct answer is never given in the movie and I have been thinking about it a lot as a Business Major. How would you think about this question?

Looking for a web app similar to what Rebump does in Gmail. I want to be able to text someone from my computer and have a sequence of bumps (follow ups) that are sent out in intervals throughout a week if my text is not replied to.

Need to purchase a new car/suv/van and trying to figure out if it should be a business purchase

    Posted: 09 Feb 2018 02:36 PM PST

Hi /r/business! I've been running a small production company for just under 1 year ($300k revenue last year, growth this year) and my small car is not cutting it anymore. We have used the car for many shoots, hauling gear, etc. The goal is to eventually not need to use our own vehicles (i.e. hire grip trucks, etc), but we're not at that point yet, and we need a vehicle in the meantime. We have considered lots of different options:

    • Buy suv/van as a company
    • Buy suv/van personally and "donate" to the company for shoots
    • Buy suv/van personally and rent it to the company for shoots
    • Buy car independently and rent other vehicles for shoots (Enterprise, Hertz, etc)
    • Lease suv/van and trade it out when we outgrow it
    • Lease suv/van for local gigs and rent bigger vehicle for long trips (to limit lease payment for miles)

The biggest thing I am wrestling with is this: If we want to invest in the vehicle as a company, how does the payment work? If it's the car I use on a day to day basis, and I'm using 70% for business and 30% personal, should that be reflected in how the company pays for it? Which then leads to gas, auto insurance, maintenance, etc etc.

At the end of the day, we need a vehicle, and it's just a little complicated with our current business needs. We want to make the best business decision possible that mutually benefits everyone involved and creates the easiest transition into the next stages of our company.

Also, there's probably options, alternatives, or big details we're missing, so please bring them up if they stick out. I would be appreciative for any and all advice. Thanks!

When is a good time to buy stocks like Amazon, Netflix, and Nvidia? I read this year things will be bumpy because of the rise in the Fed's interest rate.
