Wearing pajamas in a workplace environment? Posted: 08 Feb 2018 02:03 AM PST It may just be my 21 year old hippie brain, but I want to start a business where anyone can wear anything to work. I don't give a flying fuck if you look like a dumpster fire, I just want you to show up on time and do your job to the best of your ability, so why is what you are wearing so important to 99% of businesses? Like for real though. If you're comfy, wear your damn PJ's to work. Clothes were literally invented for one purpose: to make sure you're not butt ass naked. Anything above that is just superficial symbolism society places on clothing, when in reality is doesn't mean anything. You could be the best worker in the office and wear pj's all the time, and mofos will still look down on you. Why are businesses so anal about their workers being comfortable? Is the idea of professionalism really that important when not a single customer will see your workers? Is there a proven link between wearing pj's and less productivity? No? Then fuck off! Speaking of professionalism, it's all bullshit anyways! Get work done, and have a little fun here and there, but why do we have to act so fake in business environments? Like we aren't human beings and all we give a shit about is appearing as boring and inhuman as possible. It's disgusting. We traded our individuality to be Another mindless worker. The very idea of a standard corporate bureaucratic business, I hate it all to hell. Sycophants up their bosses' asses just to get a promotion when their superiors are clearly in the wrong, people with less merit at the top because they know people, and a generally not a single fuck given about any employees and they can just be laid off at any minute. I can't be alone in thinking that it's all just so stupid, right? [link] [comments] |

Ireland on a path to being the 4th country in the world to ban fossil fuel exploration Posted: 07 Feb 2018 09:06 PM PST THE GOVERNMENT IS set to lose a vote on proposed legislation which would place a ban on fossil fuel exploration off the Irish coast. Solidarity-People Before Profit's Petroleum and Other Minerals Development (Amendment) Climate Emergency Measures Bill aims to stop the issuing of any new licences for the exploration of fossil fuels. Costa Rica, Belize and France have already implemented similar measures. The Bill sets out that the government must: Ensure regard is had to national and global environmental considerations when issuing licences, undertakings and leases under the Petroleum and Other Minerals Development Act 1960 These considerations include: The annual average global temperature, the monthly mean level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere If passed today, Ireland will be on the path to become the fourth country in the world to implement a ban on the exploration of fossil fuels. The government is set to be defeated in the vote today, with Fianna Fail, Sinn Féin and Labour all stating they will be supporting the Bill. TD BrÃd Smith, who introduced it to the House yesterday, said pressure is now on Taoiseach Leo Varadkar. A government spokesperson, however, confirmed the Bill will be opposed. Smith said passing this Bill to the next stage would "send a signal globally" that Ireland takes climate change seriously. "The Taoiseach recently said that Ireland has been a laggard in regards to our responsibilities – this is the opportunity now for Varadkar to put his money where his mouth is," she said, adding: This is only the first small step in the fight against climate change but it is an important one as it would send a message around the world. Ireland needs to take this action and send a message to the world that we are taking climate change seriously and are willing to take the action needed to combat it. "The measures contained in this Bill are modest and are in line with the government's policy. So there is no reason why the government should oppose this bill," said Smith. Oil and gas Solidarity TD, Paul Murphy, said climate change is not just something for future generations to worry about. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Feb 2018 08:27 PM PST I'm having trouble phrasing the title coherently, but I'm curious if there are any resources that talk about businesses that a city might need as it grows to larger and larger populations. For example, an amusement park needs a relatively large population to succeed. I'm looking for less obvious industries. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 02:59 PM PST The Duty of the Benefactor, A New Economic System By Warren Baxter Anders It is the duty of a benefactor to persevere for the betterment of himself and the people he leads over. When one leads over a division of people, it is the duty if that leader, of that benefactor, to do what is necessary for such advancement. From this basic concept arises the ideals of internalized commercialism, a new, robust economic system for the betterment for all of mankind. The duty of the benefactor is to best advance the people he has dominion over, to ensure growth. In the world of industry, who are the benefactors? They are the pioneers and titans of industry, the provider of jobs, the maker of products and provider of services. They are necessary for the advancement of society. The hand of government is slow-moving and dominated by dogmatism and bureaucratism, and are as unpredictable as the people who lead them. The only given truth is the ever-expanding, ever-progressing, ever-quickening hand of industry. While economies have their downfalls and shortcomings, no one will refute that they all rise exponentially. It is for this reason that internalized commercialism is needed, to ensure a better economy, to ensure better goods and services and to foster competition, all to the benefit of the market and its consumers. The creation of goods and services come from companies and corporations, made by the hands of workers, all led under a benefactor. It is the duty of this benefactor to provide for the company, for the workers, for the market and for himself. Through careful examination and consideration of its implications and benefits, I have concluded that the best way to accomplish this is through internalized commercialism. One of the most basic requirements of a business or company is to provide the market and consumer with the highest tier of products. In any business, a product is determined is determined whether it will survive or fail in its quality and availability. The best way to ensure that both of these requirements are meant highly and efficiently come from this new system. This new system relies on a principle long established and determined, the fluidity of currency. If the company could directly supply its laborers with its own products, it would ensure the highest standard of quality in the highest of quantities. If workers were paid in vouchers for the products of their benefactor, rather than our traditional currency, we would see an increase in both of these maxims. A worker that relies on the products of their benefactor will make them of a highest quality, for they will be providing for themselves and will want to ensure the utmost of quality in products they will use later. The availability of the product will be high, for the worker will want to ensure he will be able to provide for himself, and thereby have the greatest amount of resources available to him. The worker will be safe from any gimmicks in the product they compete with, for any gimmicks in the product would have been put there by the worker. Competition will flourish under this new system, for each company shall be at odds in what they can provide for the market and for their workers. This is not a return to bartering, for it isn't the exchange of goods between the consumer and the benefactor. They have choices in what they can supply themselves with. The choices will be decided by the benefactor but it is the duty of the benefactor to decide what choices someone is granted. It is no different than the system we have in place today, with our leaders deciding our limitations and extent of abilities. It is no communism, for there is no central leadership equally distributing product or the seizure of the means of production, for it is capitalism with a new breed of currency and a limitation on what this currency can provide. It is capitalism, simply internalized within a company, hence, internalized commercialism. This is the free market working for the betterment of society. [link] [comments] |
