What 2 - 3 companies or industries taught you the most about investing? Posted: 01 Dec 2017 08:46 PM PST I'm interested in compiling a list of companies or industries to analyze as case studies and am curious whether there are any that stand out to you in particular as having helped you develop your investing skills the most or provided insights that continue to be helpful today. What are your thoughts regarding the tax bill that just passed? Posted: 02 Dec 2017 03:09 AM PST I asked this question in /r/investing, and got garbage responses. What do you think the good and bad of this is? [link] [comments] |
Successful value investing firms in Boston Posted: 01 Dec 2017 07:30 AM PST Baupost is the obvious one, but I wonder who else is based or has an office in Boston? Referring to equity investors. Thanks [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Dec 2017 12:14 PM PST Inspired by the Boston thread. Ruane, Cunniff & Goldfarb is the obvious one, but I wonder who else is based or has an office in NYC? Equity investors/cross capital structure investors. Mostly referring to the not-super well known ones (I.e Greenlight, Omega Advisors) or the ones who claim to be a value shop (looking at you Pershing). [link] [comments] |
Does anybody know Vitaliy Katsenelson's performance record? Posted: 01 Dec 2017 06:43 AM PST This guy is pretty vocal in the value community and runs ValueXVail. I'm curious if anyone has ever seen his track record? Is this a Hussman situation/super vocal but bad track record? I don't have reason to think his record is bad, I just can't find anything about it. Vitaliy's firm, Investment Management Associates (no brownie points for creativity), doesn't seem to file a 13-F so it appears they have <$100m in aum. Thanks in advance for help. [link] [comments] |

Is net debt inclusive or exclusive of liabilities such as Accounts Payables and Deferred Taxes? Posted: 01 Dec 2017 08:20 AM PST I'm seeing conflicting info about this. Is net debt simply made up of bonds and bank loans, or is it inclusive of all liabilities such as Payables and Deferred Taxes? Hope someone can clear this up for me. [link] [comments] |
