Posted: 30 Dec 2017 01:37 PM PST Hey, I'm very new to the stock market and this incoming year I want to make an effort to educate myself and hopefully invest my money into the right stocks. I was wondering if there's anyone who can recommend some useful resources (books, websites, mentors, etc.) to learn the fundamentals. Also I'd love to hear some of your predictions for common trends to invest in for 2018? [link] [comments] |
Can someone answer some questions about stock quotes? Posted: 30 Dec 2017 11:31 AM PST I understand that the ask is the lowest price someone would sell a share for and bid is the highest someone would buy a share for, but what sets these prices? Say the current ask for stock XYZ is $9.95 for 100 shares and then someone submits a sell order for $9.90 (100 shares), would the new ask price be set to $9.90 on the next quote? Then say I submit a market buy for XYZ for 200 shares, would I get the first 100 shares for $9.90 and then the next 100 for $9.95? I guess my main question is: does the ask/bid change with each order submitted? If not, how are the bid/ask set based on the current price? Or is it market makers that quote the stocks? That's what confuses me. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
iOS financial news app recommendations Posted: 30 Dec 2017 03:50 PM PST What iOS financial news app do you guys recommend for staying up to date with latest market info? I checked many and most of them are serving rubbish articles. Any app with high quality content? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 02:06 AM PST I'm not going to explain how or why but I will provide an observation. I'm hearing nothing about bitcoin, the interest in it is small right now. It's trading sideways which tells me the buyers and sellers are in check. I believe the big players are buying back in right now and will drive it up to 17k in 30 days. [link] [comments] |
