Is this gift to my insurance agent acceptable? Posted: 30 Nov 2017 05:52 PM PST So here's a little back story. I am hopefully closing on my first house next week. My insurance agent has been beyond amazing to me during this process while dealing with a lot of grief from my loan processor and the realtor over things that were honestly out of his control. Anyway, as a "thank you" to my insurance agent after closing, I was thinking about getting him a $75 gift card to the pizza place next door to his office so he can buy his staff lunch on me one day, but I want to make sure that this doesn't violate any rules or laws on what they can accept. Can anyone help me with this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Nov 2017 08:33 AM PST Police report cited the other driver and gave him a court date. My wife and I just had liability coverage on that vehicle. Our insurance (Allstate) puts her at 0% liable. The other driver's insurance (State Farm) puts her at 70% liable, and they're refusing to pay for anything. Additionally, the other driver made a claim against OUR insurance. What's the best way I can go about recovering damages from an ER visit, lost wages of 2 days of work, and damage to the vehicle (which was considered a total loss and un-drivable by a body shop)? Posted: 30 Nov 2017 05:25 PM PST My wife is changing jobs. Her current coverage ends tomorrow, December 1st. She starts her new job December 4th and her insurance coverage with that job doesn't start until 90 days in. I understand under the current insurance laws there is a penalty foe gaps in coverage that exceed 60 days. What are our options? Is it better to pay the penalty then go for COBRA? Can we get short term coverage that is cheaper than COBRA? [link] [comments] |
Person Claiming Injury 2 Months after accident. Posted: 30 Nov 2017 10:30 AM PST I was in involved in a no contact accident about 2 months ago, and I believe I am not at fault for anything. The other driver is trying to claim that I ran him off the road, and my insurance agrees that it sounds fishy because there is no proof that I did anything. My insurance and his are still trying to settle things from what I know, and my insurance told me today that he is now trying to claim an injury. This makes no sense to me because he won't tell my insurance what is injured, and from what I am told he never went to an accident doctor or anything a long those lines he is just trying to claim this now. I would appreciate any advice on this in general. My insurance also told me that he has a really bad claim history and that's another reason why it seems fishy, but he told me insurance that if "I don't tell the truth" about the situation that he will take me to court for a felony. My insurance told me that he can't do that and he's just talking. My question is can he do that ? Because what makes this bad is there was no other witnesses so it's just my word against his, and I'm telling the truth about what happened. [link] [comments] |
Fraternity VP seeking liability insurance advice. Posted: 30 Nov 2017 06:19 PM PST I was recently elected to be the vice president for a very large chapter of a fraternity. With the way the media views fraternities and all of the awful things that have happened with some fraternities recently I would like to know if anyone has any advice on protecting myself with insurance. How medical claims work when you don't have insurance (or at all)? Posted: 30 Nov 2017 09:58 AM PST Location info: Michigan (no-fault state) So, I was rear-ended on a major highway recently where I was going <10mph and the car hit me going at least 40 (if not closer to 50) mph. I am a bit sore, but nothing bad, however, my boyfriend who was in the car with me has been having moderate back and neck pain since the accident yesterday and would like to be seen by a doctor, if possible. However, he does not have health insurance (hasn't for all of 2017, long story, he is enrolled for 2018 though). A medical claim for him was added onto the claim that I filed for my car today. What does this mean, and how would we go about getting him to a doctor at low or no cost? TIA. [link] [comments] |
Was injured in a car accident in a no-fault state (MN) Insurance denying claim Posted: 30 Nov 2017 11:11 AM PST A driver ran a red light and struck the rental car I was a passenger in (They were cited by MN state patrol.) I filed a claim with the insurance of the driver who hit us for the medical expenses I endured, but now they're saying that MN "has strict PIP or Personal Injury Protection laws," and that "it's the law" that I have to "turn in medical bills to [my] own automobile insurance carrier for payment." Funny, they never mentioned anything about this at first, only after I documented my claim. I'm not from MN. I get that it's a no-fault state, but how does that work when someone else is clearly at fault for causing the accident? A little bit of research seems to show that if the medical expenses were over $4000 I can go after the other party. Also, it seems like I would always go after the other party for pain and suffering according to MN law. I'm a bit lost here; any help is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Nov 2017 12:44 PM PST The other driver I taking full responsibility, but the insurance company want to to scrap the bike, I want it repaired there is not much damage, do I have any say on the outcome of the claim? This is my 1st time dealing with a claim (UK based) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Nov 2017 11:29 AM PST I currently work as a home and auto salesman for a large insurance company. The company operates as an online and phone based sales company. It is a relatively dead end job and I'm interested in leaving. The good news about the job is that they will pay for courses in other fields of insurance. The problem is I don't know much about other fields of insurance outside of sales. I'm not necessarily opposed to sales but I'd rather not have to go to a cold calling environment with such year to year income swings. My question is vague, I'm wondering what other fields/areas of insurance offer mid to high paying income jobs with good growth? This is a question I would like to ask my current company but they do not offer any career development and frown upon people looking to move away from the sales phone bank. Thank you for any help you can provide. I'd be interested in hearing about other fields and peoples personal experiences in those fields. Cheers [link] [comments] |
[TN] want to start a sober driving program for my community Posted: 30 Nov 2017 08:07 AM PST Title says it, my question is since this is not a business but a free service to the community, with no money exchanged, is there any thing myself and possible driver's might need to do? Any advice is appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Determining Fault In Accident With Rear View Sensor Posted: 30 Nov 2017 07:18 PM PST I'll speak hypothetically because I'm feeling paranoid Let's say I got into an accident in the parking lot at the grocery store. If I was backing out of a spot and there was a collision with a car travelling down the lane I was backing into. If I understand correctly, that accident would 100% be my fault. However, there is a rear sensor on my car. It can detect objects that are not directly behind my car when I'm backing up. If the other car were to approach so fast that the collision occurred before my rear sensor could detect the other car, would that affect determining fault in an accident? Edit: What's with the downvotes? Is it ridiculous that I don't want to pay someone hundreds of dollars for an event they had way more control over than I did? Am I supposed to be happy about that? I was involved in a car accident where my auto was the only vehicle involved Posted: 30 Nov 2017 07:15 AM PST TL;DR Was involved in an accident that was a suicide attempt. Arrested with alcohol related charges and there is no reasonable explanation as to why I would have crashed. I do not know what to tell my insurance company, what do you do in a situation like this? As the title states I was involved in a car accident recently where my car was the only vehicle involved and no property was damaged aside from my vehicle. I have been told that it is more than likely totaled and I was waiting to see if it would be possible to fix it without calling insurance which is why I did not call right away. There are no reasons as to why I should have crashed my car but I did. I did not crash my car with any other intention than to end my life but obviously that did not happen and now I have a mess of a car that is not paid off. I do not know what I should say to my insurance company when I call to report the accident as there really isn't anything that I can say that would help matters. I was also charged with an alcohol related crime when police arrived on the scene of the crash and was arrested. I have not been to court yet so there has not been/ will not be a conviction as I plan to fight the charges. I have read online where insurance companies typically have a clause that states they will not pay out for damages that occur while the driver is intoxicated but I do not see that stipulation anywhere in my insurance contract and I also have full coverage. I do not know what to tell them what happened but I know that I am going to call them today as the longer I wait to deal with this the worse it will be, I am also in my mid twenties and know I messed up and plan to accept the consequences of my actions but do not know what to say in a situation like this. Posted: 30 Nov 2017 07:21 AM PST The largest insurance agency in my area (very rural, largest city has pop. of 10k) has offered me a job as an insurance and real estate agent. They will let me sell any type of insurance I want but suggest to specialize in a certain area as my "in" to a certain demographic of customer (i.e. crop insurance to farmers). They want me to come up with a base salary and I honestly have no idea where to begin. I don't want to set the base too high and not be motivated to sell, or come off greedy to them. Anyone agents out there receive a base salary during their ramp-up period? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
What's the odds of winning in small claims court Posted: 30 Nov 2017 07:09 AM PST On October 31st me and my wife were in a auto accident (no injuries) that resulted in our car being totaled and towed off site. The driver was a 16 year old kid that didn't have his license nor insurance with him. A few days after filing the claim insurance company said they couldn't move forward with the case because the driver wasn't actually listed on the insurance and he would need to be identified. A four weeks and a certified letter later the mother finally identified her son, unfortunately he was identified as a uninsured driver and we will be getting a denied claim letter. Do I have grounds to sue? Could I even win? Would I sue the kid or the mother? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Nov 2017 12:10 PM PST Market. No subsidy. People claiming to be from my insurance provider [Tufts] have called and left messages twice saying I shouldn't get coverage through the MA market and should sign up through "HSA" which they call "their administrator". Rates for January are going up on my plan by 24% thanks to asshole Trump. Nothing on the link they tell me to go to has any rate information. The phone calls just say it'll be a smaller increase. What is this? Why is it cheaper to go through "their administrator" than through the marketplace? Is this a scam or real? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Nov 2017 08:18 AM PST I just found out that I am pregnant. I have a full time job, but it's a temp and they won't be hiring me a perm position until Jan - Feb 2018. This job has FREE health insurance for all employees and families, so I was trying to wait, but my husband thinks that since I am preggo, I should just go ahead and get insured through his work insurance....I don't want to because it would increase the monthly insurance payment from around 250 to almost 450. Anyone have an insight on this? I feel like the first few months of pregnancy is just whatever anyway, right? You don't really need to go to a doctor yet....I just got a free ultrasound from a local women's clinic, so I feel like I can wait until Feb, but husband is freaking out. [link] [comments] |
Help finding legal / healthcare / etc insurance for employees and company in Oregon. Posted: 30 Nov 2017 04:26 AM PST We are a company based in Germany (75 employees) providing some very specialized services for the prospecting industry. Due to new business contracts we are required to form a new company in Oregon. As we will have to bring in employees from Germany and other EU contries, we want to provide exactly the same level of salary, benefits and social security in the US as we have in the EU. This means: We want to set up a system, where employees get their paycheck every month with all taxes, insurance, etc cost already deducted. (This is one of the conditions stated by our work council). Specifically, employees should have health insurance covering everything coverd by the german Techniker Krankenkasse (including dental work) with very little retained amount (no more than 500 dollar per year). We also need legal insurance to fight lawsuits (cost for our company at the moment: 25k euro a year) and legal insurance for our employees (currently costing arount 10 euro per month per employee). Lawsuits aren't too common in our business, but can get quite expensive in case they happen. We will also provide normal German work conditions. i.e. 9-6 work hours with a 1h break, free catering for lunch, 40h work week, paid overtime at 200% (after 10 hours a month), 32 paid vacation days, paid parental leave (starting 6 weeks before and ending 12 weeks after child birth - at 100% income). we already know that we will have to cover A LOT of the benefits provided by Germany ourselves (like child care cost, etc), but we think we can manage that. our biggest problem seems to be health and legal insurance, as the rates are not linked to income and get way too high (at least not at the level of coverage we need). Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
what is the reasonable price for a young person? Posted: 30 Nov 2017 07:02 AM PST As mentioned, I'm looking for (health & dental)insurance and have been checking with Sun Life and AMA (some people gave some negative comment on Blue Cross - as seen here. The quotes Sun Life, AMA (with no drug prescription coverage) give are 58, 62 (75 with drug prescription coverage) per month respectively. I'm not sure which one to get as the difference in price and wondering if there are any underlying services or anything that make the quotes so different. [link] [comments] |
