Is it a red flag if a startup doesn't raise VC money early on? Posted: 31 Oct 2021 06:16 AM PDT I started a new venture last year, but have not raised any angel/VC money at all - partly because we didn't have anytime to fundraise, and also because we didn't need much money in the beginning. We spoke with a few (mostly inbound) VC but didn't move along with any fundraising process seriously. Our whole business has been funded by our own money and revenue. However, we've seen good growth and are looking to raise money to supercharge the growth even further. Is it a red flag if we haven't raised any money to date? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2021 06:39 PM PDT This is the weirdest situation. So last week, one of our engineers "quit" - as in he directly told his boss, the VP of Engineering, that he wants to quit working here. But then, the next day, when asked to submit a letter of resignation, he just ignored it. And, where it gets even stranger, he came into work on the Monday following the Friday he verbally said he would leave. When he came in, internally myself and his boss were like "wtf is this guy doing here", but he legit tried to play it off like he was just coming in for his normal job and to ignore his quitting. At this point, I'm like wtf is going on. Do I fire him? Does he even technically work here anymore? Does this mean he still works here? Does he think he is going to get paid? None of this makes any sense to me. So I told him to go home and to submit a letter of resignation immediately, and we considered that, under his own declaration, he is no longer an employee. Is there anything else - legally speaking - that I need to do? Obviously, now I especially don't want him here, but I also don't want to get sued. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2021 04:20 PM PDT My company has just recently finished building our initial apps and we're about to launch. But over the last couple of days I have developed an idea for a new 'MVP' that would allow us to diversify ourselves more from the competition while still sticking to our mission statement. So we're providing our customers with the same service, but in a more cost and time efficient way. This would obviously cost money on top of our apps, but if it works out I think it could have a ROI of at least 3x in terms of customer acquisition and future funding as opposed to us sticking with just our initial apps. My question is would it be wise to pursue both at one time, so long as we stick to our mission and can efficiently manage both? [link] [comments] |
How do you determine salaries? Posted: 31 Oct 2021 09:32 AM PDT I have just started running an design agency without prior knowledge of company finance nor HR. We kinda avoid quoting projects by hourly, since project based pricing is way better. But still determining how much should someone earn is quite of a challenge for me now. Right now my friend, a UI/UX designer, wants to get hired but I have no clue how much to pay him. I don't even know how much I should pay myself… [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2021 07:41 PM PDT Does anyone have recommendations for an email service to use? I'm a dev that currently uses AWS SES to send emails for my startups, but it's really lacking in a lot of ways. That being said, I also don't want to pay an absurd amount for drip or mailchimp. Any other options? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2021 07:20 PM PDT I make handmade bracelets with beads that take around 2 hours to do. I would like to somehow mass produce them. Does anyone have any idea or experience on how to accomplish this? One of the things that I have thought about is to outsource it to Chinese factory but I don't know if that is even accomplished or where do I even search for such factories? I don't think it can be mass produced with 3D printer, unless there is some robot to outsource manual work.. Would appreciate any suggestions! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2021 11:16 AM PDT My startup had some validation through a handful of interviews, we do have a MVP, but are pre revenue. Now the big question is what I should do next. I want to message LinkedIn contacts and I see two rough approaches: What do you think is better? It feels like I would waste potential prospects when validating, but validation is core and I feel we are still lacking. Thanks for your input [link] [comments] |
Seeking advice for hiring an admin assistant Posted: 31 Oct 2021 09:06 AM PDT I own and operate a few startup businesses and am planning on hiring an admin assistant soon to help take some stuff off my plate. I am currently in the learning phase of understanding what world class admin assistants look like for non traditional businesses, and would love to get some advice on what sorts of traits to look for in the person I hire. Basically, how will I know an excellent admin assistant when I come across one? [link] [comments] |
