Cold Email Asking If I Want To Sell My Business Posted: 04 Aug 2021 01:23 AM PDT Last week I was emailed by someone who works for a local big city brokerage asking if I was thinking about selling my business. He mentions if a business isn't ready to sell, it is often sold at a huge discount. Then he says he wants to show me the value of my business as well as strategies for increasing its value. They have completed over $2b in transactions and have been in business for over 25 years. I agreed to do a call later this week but I am not really prepared for it. To be honest, I am not actively trying to sell my business. However, I would like to get a fair assessment to understand the value of the company. People who have had this kind of phone conversation, what do you recommend that I have ready before the call? Is there anything I should be aware of? Any info I shouldn't share in the first call? Warnings? [link] [comments] |
I want out of company, partner wants to buy me out- please help on proceeding Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:05 AM PDT Hello all, My business partner and I decided to dissolve our LLC located in NYC. After a couple of weeks he brought up that he wanted to buy me out. We have a operating agreement which we signed that we are 50/50. I am okay with this as I want out of the business. My question is- what form(s) are needed legally for me to transfer my half to him. Operating agreement states that an offer must be made in writing. What does this really entail? Is there a legal document that we can both sign on in regards to price and move on? Any help would be greatly appreciated! EDIT 1: Got my business properly appraised. Partner now wants to dissolve it. Moving forward with dissolution. Thanks for all of your help on the above question. Definitely will help for future endeavors I get myself into. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Aug 2021 03:35 AM PDT I'm looking to upgrade my old punch in/out stamping time lock for something a little more modern. There are several options out there for WiFi clocks but the reviews are all mixed and not sure I trust them. I don't need anything elaborate just something that shoots the in and and out time to the office so we don't have to collect time cards. I have 30-35 employees all in a central location. Only one clock is needed. What are you all using? [link] [comments] |
How to come up with a business name? Everything I think of is taken Posted: 04 Aug 2021 02:55 AM PDT I want a 2-3 English word business name. The thing is, when I find a domain that's available that I like. It might be available. But somewhere on the internet there's a business in my industry (or close enough) with that name or a variation of that name - which could cause legal issues for me later if I choose it. Or The business name is available, but not the domain. Though I'm still wondering. Say I'm interested in a ForkMedia domain for my graphic design business. Let's say it's available. But someone has a graphic design business named Fork Graphic Design in the US. I'm from Canada. Legally, I think I'm fine if I only do business in Canada, but if I want to do business in the US as well Fork Graphic Design could have a strong lawsuit against me. (from what I understand) Of course I could make up a word, like Fiverr or Reddit or Linkedin. But I don't believe it would work well in my industry, and I don't want customers asking me "How do I spell it?". Those brands usually have millions to market their business name. Nobody's going to look twice at a name like 'Fravoo' if it's a 1 man graphic design shop from Toronto, Canada Lol. I'll be ask what it is each time I do networking. [link] [comments] |

New E-Commerce Shop - Feedback & Advice Wanted Posted: 04 Aug 2021 02:16 AM PDT Hello all! I have recently started my E-Commerce shop (https://techdockshop.com), which has been live for about 10 days now. Within this period I've only been able to generate little traffic, with about 300 unique visitors, mostly from FB ads and friends and family - No sales at all yet. As such, I am wondering if there is something wrong with the website, or if I should be approaching Marketing differently? Any feedback and advice is much appreciated [link] [comments] |
Simple Inventory Software that uses UPC Posted: 03 Aug 2021 07:25 PM PDT I am in need of a simple software program that I can scan in and keep track of my inventory. I would need it to use the products existing UPC barcode and be able to work with a USB Barcode scanner. I definitely need something that is either open source, or at least very affordable. I would prefer if the software can populate the product info itself based on the UPC without me having to manually put in the details for each item. It also would make my life much easier if I can scan multiple items in succession (sort of like a POS at a retailer can continue scanning item after item) without having to go back to the PC after each item. I did search for this question (and similar) before posting, but did not find any that really fit my needs as something simple and cheap. Most I saw mentioned were $250+ and I just can't commit that much for this type of software just yet. I did also see someone mention Grocy, but I got the impression from that post that Grocy is a mobile app and that it only automatically populates info for grocery items, which my items are not grocery. I apologize and please delete if this post is not allowed. Any advice is greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Aug 2021 01:09 AM PDT Hi, I started a lawn care business in FL and one of my new customers (a property manager) is asking for a W9. Now, I'm not a US citizen so I'm fairly new to all this, is this normal? What would be the tax implications/obligations on my end if anything different than just reporting our income? Also, would this data sensitive? It's an LLC so no SSN, but I worry that any company sensitive data can be disclosed to them. Thank you in advance for your help. Edit: my CPA is on holiday, I'd like to square this out before I service them again. [link] [comments] |

Employee missing work for partying/drinking Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:48 AM PDT WWYD? I have one of my employees on Facebook and I am able to see his stories. Two weeks ago I saw his stories that he was out partying and drinking on a Sunday. The next Monday he texted me flat out saying he was hungover and couldn't make it in. Then again this week there is a story on Facebook that he is drinking, comes Monday he has this story about his sister being sick and that he had to take her to the ER, he asked if he could be late. I've also caught him using the company car for personal things, I found someone else's badge in the front seat. We talked about it and said he wouldn't do it anymore. This employee is in sales and has been in our company for 3 months. His sales were great the first two months, but this last month he barely made any. I am not in the US so if I fire him I would need to pay him a severance. WWYD? [link] [comments] |
I want to start a first-time small business, how do grants work exactly? Posted: 03 Aug 2021 06:08 PM PDT Wife and i are thinking of buying a small hotel in Upstate New York which has already been functioning for many years already. Cost is $600k and includes a live-in home. We have never owned our own business. Wife tells me there are grants available for new up and starters, but it's a jungle of information and I don't know where to start. Primary question is: do you have to already have a business established to qualify for a grant, or are there grants available for new-comers right off the bat? We will look for a bank loan first and foremost, but just wondering if I use any time on grants as of yet. Thanks all! [link] [comments] |
What are some websites or apps you use to hire skilled virtual assistants from overseas ? Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:14 PM PDT I'm trying to outsource and I never hired a person from overseas. Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:53 AM PDT I've always struggled with insecurities growing up, particularly when it comes to believing in myself. I was raised to believe that my self-worth and value are tied into what I do for a living. If I am not successful in making lots of money, If I am unable to make a name for myself, I am nothing. I'm in my 30s now, and I am trying to build a business for myself while I am also struggling financially. I'm really having a hard time with self-confidence. I really wish I was more of a go-getter. I wish that I didn't worry so much about everything. I wish I could just shut my brain off and trust the process. My anxieties sometimes get the best of me and do get in the way of what I am trying to accomplish. Is there anyone who has set up a business of your own while also struggling with mental health in the process. What advice do you have to give in working through the low points of running a business? Letting customers know you exist Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:43 AM PDT Hello! I've recently decided to start a machining and fabrication shop. I live in a rural community mostly supported by farming, transportation, and factories. I'm having a bit of trouble finding the best way to reach my target customers to let them know I'm providing services. Being that I'm mostly interested in taking work from other businesses, am I better served by phone calls and firm handshakes over other types of marketing like Facebook? Any advice is appreciated! Feedback: Business Idea - Electric Landscaping Posted: 03 Aug 2021 09:09 PM PDT First time posting on Reddit so bear with me here. There's a lot of landscaping businesses in my area and it appears to be a somewhat lucrative business. I've mowed and landscaped on the side, but never for a business. With the rise of electric cars and power equipment I'm curious to see the feedback on the idea of a fully electric lawn mowing business (minus the truck). I haven't done any market research yet really, just seeing what people thought of the idea. Some pros of this would be sustainability and the machines would be a lot quieter. Along with that is less maintenance and no fuel bills. The only con I can think of is reliability of such new tech and cost of batteries. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Aug 2021 08:02 AM PDT Hi r/smallbusiness, I need help defining my r/smallbusiness idea. Recently, I have had the unfortunate opportunity to help clean a rental property after some pretty disgusting tenants (and a squatter) had left. To summarize quickly - My brother has a few rental properties, one of them was pretty much trashed by the tenants before they left. Then the place was then taken over by a squatter while my brother was out of town. Needless to say, the house was wrecked and needed to be cleaned top to bottom. The process included ripping up carpets, repairing drywall, throwing away furniture & garbage, cleaning with many chemicals, etc. Just to have the house ready and stagged for the potential new tenants coming. Oddly, the satisfaction I got when we finished (the before & after) was enough to make me wonder if this could be a side hustle. Is there anyone in this thread that would have experience in this area? What type of business would this be considered? There are many "cleaning" businesses in my area and we originally looked to pay someone to do this but none of them would help us. I have access to a truck with a long bed and a trailer already. Purchasing the chemicals to clean the floors and the walls, and possibly some odd tools if I don't already have them, would be some of the start-up costs. Looking forward to any feedback on this. How to remove google reviews (the right way) Posted: 03 Aug 2021 06:07 PM PDT I've been asked a lot about this one. So I wrote an article. Google doesn't offer a simple "delete" option for its reviews(we all wish they did). There are three ways to remove:
HOW TO GET YOUR CUSTOMER TO REMOVE THEIR GOOGLE REVIEW Negative reviews are inevitable. The sheer depth and breadth of who we serve will never cater to everyone. Also, a business is made up of people and as people, we sometimes fail – that's ok. What's not ok is letting that be the end of it.Check out the image of the grand canyon review lol. I also saw a 1-star for not allowing valet parking. How to respond to a negative review (4 Steps) Step 1: Apologize and sympathize Step 2: Insert a little marketing in your response to the bad review Step 3: Move the conversation offline Step 4: Unhappy to happy IS IT POSSIBLE TO REMOVE A GOOGLE REVIEW SOMEONE LEFT YOU? In short, yes. You can dispute a Google review, however, it is not easy and it can be very frustrating. It's not guaranteed and you have to be justified (according to Google's policy) There are 10 reasons Google will remove a review
Read the policy and see if you are justified (just like JT's fresh album). I FEEL I'M JUSTIFIED, SO HOW DO I GET GOOGLE TO REMOVE THE REVIEW? Word of advice, this isn't guaranteed and will take up your precious time, so make sure you feel you are justified.Follow these steps to flag a review:
It can take several days for someone at Google to review. If this fails, contact them through their support. HOW TO CONTACT GOOGLE SMALL BUSINESS SUPPORT To contact Google's support for businesses, follow these steps:
Using any of these methods, you can expect help within 24 hours. If you choose to contact Google via email or chat, it is helpful to have a screenshot of the review in question ready to go. FILE A LEGAL REMOVAL REQUEST FOR THE BAD REVIEW OF YOUR BUSINESS That's right you can get the lawyers involved. For example, if the review violates the defamation act. There was a recent case where a dentist won a $170,000 payout for a one-star Google review after she claimed that she had been defamed online by one of her patients. OKAY, GOOGLE WON'T REMOVE MY REVIEW & IM NOT GOING TO SUE THEIR ASS - WHAT DO I DO? Lessen the impact. That's right. Put your marketing/sales hat on again. You can do this by: Responding to the review with further messaging. Get more reviews Use software Any more tips & tricks? How successful have you been in getting these removed? [link] [comments] |
