How to land foreign clients from my work desk in Bangladesh [ Seeking strategies, tips and blessings ]

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 07:35 PM PDT

Hello there, I'm a 25 year old from Bangladesh running a digital marketing agency. We specifically focus on social media marketing since it is huge here.

Although we have an average amount of clients in my native country, I'm looking to bring in work from abroad. We are working with one Australian company.. but that's mostly one off work.

Things I need to know: 1) What are the steps to approach foreign companies. 2) What incentives can I provide to foreign companies, other than just price to get their attention. 3) Are there any specific websites that will make it easy for us to get leads from. 4) Any strategies that could come in handy while searching for clients.

    Thanks in advance.

First of all is this legal. Second of all she seems too young to volunteer i wouldnt really leave her alone and just be adding a bit more work for me to have her around. Sounds like I'll be babysitting. What do you all think? Opinions would be nice.

Why is California's ftb.ca.gov site such a piece of trash?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 11:33 PM PDT

Over the past 3 years I have had to create 12 accounts. Anytime I try to login (which is like once a year to pay my $800) I have to create a new account because the password no longer works (I use a pw manager so I know i'm not mistyping it).

I tried all 12 accounts, but after the 4th one my account is now locked. Fucking piece of shit garbage.

How do I find the Perfect Product for a business ?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 08:07 PM PDT

Hopefully this isn't a silly question. But I'm at the point in my life where I feel passionate about starting my own business. I have been stuck for a while on this problem. I feel like the industry and product are very important to the motivation and culture of a business. But what is the best way to find a product or service that I am passionate about? I understand that network and waiting for good opportunities is probably the best way. But is there other research or things I can do to find a product? And how do I know I have found the perfect product? Is it just trial and error?

That you for everyone's time! I appreciate all feedback!

I really want to start a business but...

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 10:32 PM PDT

Where do I start? What do I look for? I don't trust internet gurus, and people that sell courses. I don't have any real money. I do know that I want to help build people's value, but I'm not sure how; although, my background is in tech and health.

    Are consultant/Licensing services worth it?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 12:05 AM PDT

I'm in the process of opening a physical exam clinic. We don't plan on really practicing medicine, but we definitely fall in the purview of medicine. I was put in contact with a consultant who takes care of all the business licensing who wants $3,500 to set everything up. I know that's quite the mark up, but I'm debating if they actually bring value.

Is this something I should be paying for? I've made some mistakes along the way, so paying my way seems very tempting, but I was wondering if anyone dealt with this type of situation, or has any insight into licensing/consultanting

Renting a Car under my LLC - best way to pay?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 03:34 AM PDT

TL:DR - 600 a month car rental. Pay through company CC and deduct personal use from it (50% im estimating) or pay through personal CC and have company reimburse? Any nuances, tricks or unforeseen complications doing this?

    Thanks Guys

I realistically would be using it about 90% of the time for business, I've read you can do that if you only deduct/writeoff the percent used for business. I'm going to go conservative and have been thinking of deducting/writing off 50%.

My question is this : Should I book the car using my company credit card or personal card? I'm kind of afraid to put any purchases through my company card that aren't 100% business use but my business bank has superior receipt management, the card supposedly builds credit and I don't know if I like the idea of trying to get reimbursed through my own company any more than going the other way.

Can anyone give my frend's site some feedbacks?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 02:23 AM PDT

My friend is running a small e-commerce business. He made a directory website for his own use, but later I suggested that he share this website online to see if people who are e-commerce sellers need this website or not. If people love it, he may consider it seriously as a business.

I think he could also use some suggestions from redditors. LOL

Question about this business structure of LLC and DBAs

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 06:36 AM PDT

Hi, I have a question about structuring a new business.

The brief summary is I'm thinking about starting something that will have tentacles into a few different areas, where it would make sense to have specialized business names for different segments. As this moves forward I think it could pivot and a strong focus area could emerge that is not predictable right now… which is why I am thinking about the below.

First, I am planning to get an umbrella insurance policy to cover just about any contingency.

Next, I was thinking about starting an LLC with a sort of generic name, e.g. "x Enterprises" and the info I would register would be sort of generic or maybe even something like "any and all legal business activities…." It would be a single member LLC for now.

Finally, I would register a couple of DBAs from my LLC. For example, "x LLC DBA y," "x LLC DBA z," etc. Externally it might appear as separate businesses but it would legally be one entity.

Years ago I worked in small business and I'm pretty sure that's what they were doing when they first started, which is how I had the idea. Is this common and does this sound like a sound practice? Any pros and cons?

    Thanks.

Should I Charge Potential Clients For Website Audits?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 10:37 AM PDT

So normally before bringing on a potential client I normally run them through a free website audit which shows them their current SEO, their competitions current SEO, and all the ways they can fix it and try to start outranking their competition. I think it's a great way to run them through my process and brief them on how important SEO can really be for their business; however, recently I had another SEO guy explain to me that he does the same process but charges everyone he works with for those audit. Now I can admit that it becomes a little obnoxious making these videos for people who have no intent to work with me and just want the free audit; however, I also don't know if I would be willing to charge someone as the idea at the end of the day is to help those business owners in need whether they work with me or not, also I may end up losing more potential clients in the long run. So do you think I should charge potential clients for these audits of their websites?

Advice on starting a real estate media small business

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 01:31 PM PDT

I'm interested in started a very small business. It's very small because it would just be me for the time being and some occasional help from my sister.

What I am trying to do is start a real estate media business. This would entail going to houses that are going to be for sale/are for sale/rent and taking the photos and doing videos as well.

I'm not seeing this at all in my town right now and really want to tap into this but I guess I don't know how. How do I start?? Where do I start?? I don't know any real estate agents so I just have no clue what to do.

Also what does something like this charge? $200? I just have no idea about any of this because I've always worked for someone else.

    Type of loan

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 12:32 PM PDT

Hello, I have been a independent contractor for 3 years working for a private therapy practice. I am now working on starting my own private practice closer to my home and am interested in getting a loan for up to 20,000 to set up my office. I have created a business plan but I'm not sure what types of loans I would even qualify for. Would working as a IC be looked at as being in business previously? My credit score is 738, I do own a home and property.

    Hobby or Small Business?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 06:42 PM PDT

My daughter had been wanting to start selling some of her crafted items including stress putty, floam, and slime online. I thought this would be a great learning process for her and a way to learn about business while making a little bit of cash for her college savings. What I didn't expect was for it to take off the way it did so quickly.

I have a couple of questions. When does this become a small business vs. a hobby, and should I consider forming an LLC and getting insurance?

Is there affordable software that handles accounting and project based budgeting?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 10:24 PM PDT

I've had a business for several years. We have one sheet for general yearly business expenses and another for each project we're working on. I want to move to standard accounting practices and software and stop using our hacked together convoluted system.

My ideal work flow would be create a budget for a project. Scan in receipts/import credit card transactions and assign them to a budget category and be able to see how much of the projected budget I've already used. I also want to be able to put in an expense that has not occurred yet. For instance I know that I will owe a contractor $200 and that should come out of the budget before I actually get the bill so I know that money is spoken for.

Is this a reasonable workflow? It seems like a lot of software doesn't offer budgeting. Do other companies track their budget separately from their accounting?

I'd love to find software that is not subscription based but that seems rare.
