Saw a viral TikTok this weekend that showed a tool where you look up any company's suppliers and am kicking myself in the head for not remembering the name. Did anybody else see it?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 09:24 AM PST

    Title pretty much says it.

Saw this girl who sold tea on TikTok showing this tool where you could type in a company and see their suppliers. She used Lululemon as an example and BAM their suppliers were right there.

Only problem is I played with the tool in an private window on my iPhone and can't remember the name of it for the life of me. I've spent the better part of an hour trying to find it online. The name might have been supply something. The tool was free. It had a blue color to the brand and a cute logo. Homepage looked like a search engine similar to Google or old school Yahoo!.

I felt like I found the holy grail of supply chain tools and it's driving me crazy that I can't think of the name.

Help I have 1,000,000 Lemons ready to be sold.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 06:42 PM PST

Hi. As mentioned in the title, I have roughly one million two hundred thousand Persian Lemons.

These are seedless, Persian Lemons, double the size and juice of the average lemon you find at Walmart or Costco.

Where do you suggest I sell them?

Whom should I pitch these to? What is a good selling wholesale price for lemons?

My warehouse is located in Miami and I imported this from the tropical country Honduras.

    Thank you!

Help my Etsy shop is too successful and I’m scared to fail by not being able to meet demand

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 10:04 AM PST

I made a product for a hobby and I sell it on Etsy. My shop has been running about a year and I've made over 4K sales so far. (Edit for clarity, I'm meaning I've sold 4,000 orders) I sell an original invention and yes, I need to get it patented which is also confusing to me as well. I sell out within minutes, which sounds great however I have started getting messages of people saying they are simply fed up with the unavailability and are simply going to stop trying to purchase. I love the idea of expanding and trying to make this into a company with employees and other products I have ideas for but I've never been to business school and simply cannot keep up with the demand by myself. I just have a great invention that works and people love, and don't know where to go from here. Any help or tips would be appreciated!

Approved for Walmart marketplace, need UPC barcodes?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 06:06 AM PST

Hey I sell a do-it-yourself craft kit that's been mildly successful on Etsy and eBay. I got approved to sell on Walmart marketplace but it seems they need UPC codes. Does anyone have experience on how this works? I only sell about 10 unique items but I'm ok with listing just my top 2 sellers if there's a large expense associated with this...

What do I need to know about insurance?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 05:32 PM PST

Hiya, I am investigating starting up a new venture that would require insurance. Liability at the very least, but potentially more. I don't know if I should go to a broker or not.

Do you guys have any information on what I should read up about? Videos to watch? The only insurance I have purchased in the past is for my vehicle, and my house.

I gave a 30-day notice on my office today. It was a milestone, now it’s just sad.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 08:55 PM PST

My office was a huge milestone in my almost 10 year marketing agency business. Right downtown, below market rate, expanded from one room to multiple over the years, old building charm, tastefully decorated, professional space for clients to meet, quiet space for calls, impressive space for video, the works. I was so proud of it.

After almost a year avoiding the decision, I put in my 30-day notice. Revenue has been up and down this past year (detrimental more than not), the team has been remote this entire time, and I just can't hold out any longer.

I'm feeling sad and trying to keep the silver linings in mind. We're still in operation (for now). My employees seem happy. Business ownership, milestones, and status of an office has changed. It'll be okay.

Any agencies or services businesses out there let go of their office and have good things to say about their decision or how they're adapting? I'd love to hear it. This past year can suck it.

[serious question] why do small businesses dislike Gusto so much?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 07:55 AM PST

I offer HR and payroll services. I partnered with Gusto to be able to provide payroll but most small businesses I talk to about my services hate Gusto so much that it hurts my chances at the sale. I ended up bringing on another platform for those types just in case but I really want to know why people dislike gusto so I have a better idea before jumping on these calls. Any thoughts?

Reaching out before the product is ready to sell

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 09:39 AM PST

    hello!

I hope you all are doing well and are staying safe and healthy during these times.

I am writing here today to ask a question that I have been pondering for the past few weeks. To give you a little background, I have just started the process of putting up a small chemical manufacturing plant and it will likely take 7-9 months to finish, and it could end up being longer than that. So, I was wondering if I could use this downtime to start drumming up some interest/sales. How would I do that while being upfront about the time it would take before I could deliver any product? Is there a point to making sales calls/emails this early? Or should they be more of a "would you be interested x months down the line to work with me" kind of calls/emails?

I'm in a situation where I don't want to start production without any leads that would be able to get me some business. Additionally, since I have this time to spare, I would like to be productive and try to build up some kind of goodwill or maybe just a Rolodex to refer to when it is time. Have any of you been in a position like this? Any and all advice is highly appreciated.

    Thank you for your time.

Discovered a large amount of plagiarism in the work of someone I contracted; need advice as to how to close contract and deal with compensation

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 09:36 AM PST

Background context is I had to hire a number of contractors (contributing writers) for this huge 1 month long project at work, and ive also been responsible for reviewing and uploading their work to our platform. We didnt have a plagiarism tool, and I repeatedly requested one because I knew I couldn't possibly manage to check that on top of everything else. We finally got one today and ive been checking everyone's work to discover one of them has been copying whole segments from many different articles to make his own articles..I would say only 20% of the content is original.

I want to close the contract, but wondering what to do about compensation. He's been working three weeks, but at the same time it's now going to cost me probably days to go back and edit all of his work and take down the ones I already published. Should I just pay him a much smaller amount to compensate him at least for the research part (i.e. finding the topics to write about)?

Cloud Storage for Small Creative Company

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 09:30 AM PST

I have recently launched an online business that I require a "central cloud hosting" solution for. I have seen multiple suggestions like dropbox, BOX, Sync, OneDrive, GoogleDrive etc but none seem to offer what I am looking for. I would like 1 central storage for 1-2 people to be able to share, I don't need individual users to have their own storage - just a place where I can collaborate and share files. I am considering a standalone cloud drive to sit at home but would rather the security of working with an established cloud supplier for my business.Does anyone have any advice for a cloud solution for a company drive?
**Edit - I would need minimum 2tb storage as we work with very large video files.

Looking for a reliable SBA 7a Loan Lender ( pro-tip avoid Lendio)

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 09:03 AM PST

Hey folks- I want to apply for an SBA 7a loan and I started the process MONTHS ago through a funding manager at Lendio who was super shady and unreliable. I thought he was trustworthy and so even though we went to them for a SBA loan specifically I bought in when he pushed a high interest "bridge loan" on me saying don't worry you are well qualified and you will have the SBA express loan before the interest will be due so you pay that off and it builds your credit and blah blah blah bullshit all of it. Well needless to say that was the beginning of October and here we are in February and I was dumb enough to get us saddled with high interest on the bridge which didn't even begin to meet our manufacturing needs thanks to the shady scumbag and then they just never got back to us about the 7a. I don't even know if he ever submitted anything on it. I think he just lied to us frankly. So I am trying for a REPUTABLE lender ie not Lendio. Can anyone recommend a lender for SBA 7a loans?

    Networking During Covid

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 08:56 AM PST

My biz requires that I do a lot of networking in order to grow. I'm familiar with the process and enjoy it. That said, Covid is cramping my style. Face to Face, Events, lunches, coffee, etc. are all generally off the table. To date I have been doing mucho LinkedIn. Frankly I am looking for better results.

What networking activities have you been doing during Covid to grow your biz.

    Thanks in advance.

Bank that supports Profit First system.

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 08:45 AM PST

So, I just spent a whole two weeks looking for banks all around that will support the Profit First Banking system. No monthly Fees, No Service Fees, No Minimum Balance Fees, support multiple banking sub-accounts under one Account.

I found an online banking service called Relay Financial, they seemed very promising. After about a week or so of setting it up and planning to route everything there, it turns out they do not support Freshbooks. Which is how I plan to invoice for all my income.

This morning I called First Citizens Bank, they have everything I'm looking for in a bank to do Profit-First. I'll be singing up and setting everything up throughout the week, I'll let you all know how it goes.

If you have any other banking alternatives, feel free to suggest it. Peace

Has anyone received forgiveness for their 1st PPP loan from Kabbage? Fed up with this company.

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 08:37 AM PST

I've gone above and and beyond with Kabbage and have submitted all the docs they've requested many times. Not very confidence inspiring that they kept asking for the same exact docs again and again. I mean a 940 is a 940 - there is no ambiguity.

Now there has been no new news on the K-Servicing portal for months. Anyone else in the same boat? My PPP was less than $100K.

I don't trust these fintechs - they seem slimy. I could see them purposely not forgiving the loans just to line their pockets.

Calling K-Servicing results in a "We're too busy to take your call - bye." I'm envious of my friends who worked with small local banks and have already had their loans forgiven.

Website Security for Small Business | Everything You Need to Know

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 08:24 AM PST

There was a time when only large corporations and government agencies had to worry about hackers and cybercriminals. Not anymore. They now pose an ever-increasing threat to small businesses. Depending on the source, statistics show that anywhere from nearly one-half to as many as two-thirds of all small business websites are targeted by cyberattacks. Why? Because they're among the softest targets, making them easy pickings. That means it's time to think about website security for small business.

Looking for the best Wiki for our business

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 08:24 AM PST

Hi! I'm looking for the best option to store and share our SOP Manual. We're a small services business (10 staff), and we're interested in Confluence, Slab, Tettra and Slite. Preference if it's web based as our team is remote, and we don't want issues installing it. Any guidance would be appreciated. We tried OneNote, but it was messy. We prefer something paid and user-friendly where we can upload easily Word Docs, videos and PDFs, and with easy search capabilities.

However, should we be concerned about our privacy if it's web based? Would love to hear your thoughts on this too.

    Thank you very much!

    LLC reinstatement or Re-register?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 08:21 AM PST

Hello all! Can anyone provide some input here... I started an LLC back in 2009 (state registration and EIN), but never really used it until recently. I recently discovered it was administratively dissolved by the state of North Carolina. In order to reinstate the LLC, I would have to file annual reports from 2010-2020 @ $200 each plus $100 for the reinstatement fee. I spoke with someone at the Secretary of State and she also said I could just register it and start from scratch since it has been so long, the name is available.

My question is, what is the benefit of the reinstatement over registering it from scratch?

    Small Business Networking in Ireland

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 08:17 AM PST

So I've worked as an HR Manager in Ireland for years, and have always done compliance training, such as Manual Handling, Fire Safety, etc. on the side and always ended up being asked a few HR questions when on site to deliver training. Enter Covid, no longer able to go on site to deliver training, the companies I do HR for are all closed, and I find more and more questions coming in from small businesses about HR matters. I'm finding a niche here, but am running out of referrals. I'm wondering what kind of networking opportunities are available in Ireland during lock down? I'm enjoying helping small busineses expand and advising them and would really like to do this full time instead of working for someone else, but am not sure where to get the leads to do so. Open to any ideas and I do realise this sounds a bit self promoting but that's not what I'm going for; I just want a starting point to network with others....
