I want to do a $5 off deal when a customer spends $25 Posted: 31 Oct 2020 08:26 PM PDT I own a small produce market and i want to do this deal. I'm thinking of printing and putting banners outside for this deal which will either be valid weekdays or weekends only. I need some opinions on whether i should do "we pay you $5 when you buy $25" and literally hand the customer a $5. Or keep it more simple and deduct $5 from the purchase. I feel like handing them a $5 has a better impact.. I don't want to use % off because that's overdone and doesn't mean anything anymore. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
what is the surest way of growing your email newsletter? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 11:42 PM PDT getting sign ups for email newsletters is one of the ways to grow your business but how to quickly get enough newsletter signups and subscribers? [link] [comments] |
Has anyone made a tall stand for square contactless reader Posted: 31 Oct 2020 08:31 PM PDT I'm looking for anyone who has created or bought a tall stand similar to the image provided in the link for the square contactless reader. I run a sports event company and need something covid safe so my employees can stand 1.5meters away while customers pay. http://imgur.com/gallery/ZCw6hwS [link] [comments] |
MFJ to turn sole prop to LLC. Should it be SMLLC or multi member LLC? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 01:20 AM PDT Married filing jointly couple is going to turn husband's sole proprietorship into a LLC. Wife helps out with business. What are considerations in turning the business into a single member vs. multi member LLC? Definitely seems simpler to be a SMLLC but is it more beneficial to be a multi member LLC? [link] [comments] |
Question on when to send an employee home for potential virus exposure Posted: 31 Oct 2020 03:17 PM PDT Sometimes it seems like you can't win. I have an employee that has a roommate. The roommate has a father that has tested positive for the virus. The roommate was exposed to his father. My employee was not exposed to the father, his roommate was. Both my employee and his roommate have tested negative and didn't use the rapid method (which has a terrible rate of false positives/negatives). The father's positive test came about 5 days ago. Employee tells me on Friday while working. Since it's not a direct exposure, and his roommate didn't test positive, we said stay at work. Then we thought well maybe they are all supposed to stay home for 14 days. Then you start going in circles in your head about how exposure works, and should everyone that has now been exposed to the employee stay home for 14 days? Knowing that it can take 14 days for the virus to show up. UGH. Sometimes this virus exposure is so hard to know how to do the right thing. And when it comes down to it, aren't we all sometimes getting exposed to some degree? How many degrees of exposure to Kevin Bacon are we going off of now? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2020 08:43 PM PDT So I'm a new small business. I do art, jewelry, and pretty much any crafty thing I can get my hands on. I have my website up ( cosmicraycreations901.square.site if anyone wants to take a look and give me some opinions about that. It's still in the works as far as needing a few more pages like email sign up and my how to page but it's mostly done. ), I have a Facebook page, and even a TikTok. I have plans for a pop up shop at my house in 2 weeks to try and catch people out at yard sales looking to buy things, hopefully to make some sales, and to get my name out there. Now my question is.... how do I advertise? Since I'm just starting, I don't have the funds to pay for advertising yet (at least nothing too expensive), so I'm not sure how to. I know I need to call boutiques to try and show my inventory to get them to buy and stock my stuff as well, but other than that I'm at a loss. Any tips? [link] [comments] |
Question about a small business loan Posted: 31 Oct 2020 07:57 PM PDT I own a small business for the past 6 years (single member LLC). It's been profitable since the first day, with a yearly revenue of about $40-50k. The net profit is much smaller but theres a decent cash flow every month. I would like to apply for a small loan of about $10-15k. My credit score is 790 but the problem is that I haven't filed taxes in the past 2 years due to some issues with my previous accountant. After I file taxes, do I have any chance of getting approved for the loan given that my net profit is pretty low? What is taken more into account, the yearly revenue, cash flow or net profit? Thanks [link] [comments] |
I'm thinking of buying a tablet for easier inventory management Posted: 31 Oct 2020 07:35 PM PDT Right now, I have one person doing all inventory by paper. It is quite inefficient, as we have to print out about 30 pages every week so that they can write down how much stock we have of every item, which is then introduced by hand into excel. I'm thinking of getting a tablet to make things easier, any recommendations? Also, does anyone know a good app for this? Ideally it should be easy to look for the items on the tablet and introduce the current number in stock of every item, and also easy to then import into excel. [link] [comments] |
Zoho One for nearly all-in-one small business solution? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 12:02 PM PDT Hi all, What are your thoughts on Zoho One for a small business with less than 5 employees? Currently using an older erosion of quickbooks desktop (no longer syncs with bank), Dropbox, google sheets/docs, email and SMS to run things nearly free for our small crew. Just installed suitecrm, but the user interface feels sluggish and a bit time consuming to do some things. While this works, I've been looking for a way to better organize projects and team. Specifically CRM and a project management system (like Basecamp for example). It would be great to have everything integrated so that crm could handle its job and once an opportunity is won, convert to a project and proceed until the project is completed. Integration with accounting software would be nice, but in our case I don't see much value (I'm new to this though). I stumbled on Zoho One at $30/mo/user. What I like about it is it has everything I've been looking for and more included with minimal effort. The integration between all the apps is something I think will be greatly beneficial. While having all apps integrated beautifully seems like a great thing, I worry a bit about having everything hosted with one provider. For privacy and for uptime (if Zoho should be down a full day, it wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would really be a problem). Is it truly a no-brainer or am I missing something? Anyone using them? If so, what's your opinion. Any other suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Setting up an LLC if your work brings you around the country? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 05:36 AM PDT I live in LA and shoot video around the country. I have a New Jersey address as well, so could I register in NJ to save some money on the costs compared to CA's? Also, do I really need to set up a foreign LLC in every state I operate? How exactly do they track where I'm conducting operations? It doesn't seem right to be that entering a state for a few days of work should require much paperwork on my end so looking for some clarity. I realize this is best asked to a CPA however just looking to see if anyone has been in a similar situation. [link] [comments] |
Seeking Christian Book Wholesalers Posted: 31 Oct 2020 07:26 PM PDT Hi all, This is a bit of a niche request, but I'm looking to order Christian books in bulk at wholesale discount rates, preferably within Australia. I've found Christian bookstores/retailers, and I've found wholesalers that don't stock many Christian books, but not both. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
My COGS dilemma family business Posted: 31 Oct 2020 08:05 AM PDT Good morning guys, hope you're all well. My grandfather recently passed away to cancer, leaving behind a solid family business that we all grew up in and love. He used a very old POS system, called DOS, which does the job... But requires a lot of work outside of the actual system. Nothing is automated. I've closed a deal with a well known POS to use their POS, Ecommerce, and QuickBooks online integration. I'm currently an accounting student (just started) and have a little bit of insight into basics of accounting, however, not as much as the majority of you guys. My issue is as follows: My grandfather would list all inventory purchases as COGS the moment they were received. He would set a fixed inventory at the start, and ended the year with a bit more or a bit less of inventory. However, the majority of the inventory currently in the store is designated as COGS (that's what my accountant told me to continue to do as well given that we don't have an active inventory system). All inventory bought in a quarter is listed as COGS and deducted from taxes at the end of the quarter... So our tax bill wouldn't be too high given that we can play around with it. Say if one were to notice we sold a lot and haven't bought enough, we'd buy more inventory and list it as COGS, thereby lowering the taxes to be paid per quarter. Now that I want to change it to a POS system with a specified inventory system, I'm stuck with the following issue: how do I create an inventory with items that are already COGS? Do I make an adjustment (with my accountant) for the COGS still in store so that I can then place it as inventory? Is it worth doing this whole switch? Should I stay as is? Thanks again and hope to hear from you all soon. [link] [comments] |
Beer drinkers, what do you think of this? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 05:23 PM PDT [UK based] I've been trying to find ways to help people learn about craft beers: where they come from, how they're made, how to taste and pair with food etc as I've found that with so much out there to try, it's hard to know where to start. I'm thinking about a subscription box, where each month is themed around a particular historical character - the story of their life is told, with beers relevant to certain points coming into the story along the way. Eg if they were born in London - you get a beer from a London brewery in the popular style of the time and some info around it; if they had a link with sailing/exploring you get an IPA to link with the history of the beer etc. Ultimately, the aim is to do a beer box a little differently to what's out there, learning some history and about beer along the way. This is UK-based but appreciate thoughts and ideas from all - what do you think? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2020 02:23 PM PDT Like the title says, looking for feedback on creating surveys. I've got a new idea we're starting to work on, going through the patent process right now and I need to get some feedback and would like to create a very short survey of home owners. Does anyone have recommendation on the best way to go this? would love to be able to get 100,000 or more responses. Don't really need any follow up but was thinking today I could basically create a sales funnel or presale etc. 10+ years of our own business, in product creation, wholesale/distribution so don't need any feedback on that side I know it's expensive 😁 thanks everyone [link] [comments] |

Can I incorporate and switch my SSN to my EIN with my employer? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 02:00 PM PDT I'm a music producer and mixer, and have been self employed for almost 20 years, at my own recording studio in Nashville. I was hired to mix the music for a tv show in LA (yes, I travel there 3-5days a week) and hired by the network, and joined a union.... through May 2021, when the season ends. Can I incorporate (been meaning to, anyway) and switch my SSN to my EIN with the employer, and be able to write off my travel and expenses while in LA? This may be way more complicated than I think, so who would I even talk to about this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2020 01:58 PM PDT I've posted before and took all the feedback and changed my website. Here is some of the feedback: better pictures, didn't know what I was selling, and organized. Some other feedback was get a baby and take pictures with them wearing my products, but that isn't possible at the moment. I was wondering if there was any other feedback to help draw people to my website to buy items?(www.minimeboutiqueky.com) [link] [comments] |

Product image editor for Mac / desktop / web Posted: 31 Oct 2020 12:21 PM PDT Hey all, I recently came across the app PhotoRoom for iOS. The app has a lot of preset templates to automatically remove a background and create a professional "studio" like product pictures. Problem is it's only for mobile. Does anyone know an app/software/web-based (like Canva) platform to edit product pictures? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2020 11:24 AM PDT We currently run a very small memorial pool tournament with silent auction. Currently we bring in about 4k funds per year. Much of this money is donated directly to individuals in need. As of this post we have raised given out about 20k. We are looking to expand our efforts and have many more events, sell items, have raffles and other possible money raising events. We are working with a lawyer to get a 503c filed and will be working with an Accountant to get all the finances in order. I have a few questions that may be more on the technical side as I really would like to streamline our customer engagement aspect. Currently we just have a facebook group that we use. Its fine for just updates, but not really good for much else. I am looking for good options to setup non-profit site. We want to be able to Sell items on the site, take donations directly, have direct signups and payments for events and maybe online raffles. I am unsure about he legal aspect of raffles and if they can even be online. Lawyer will help with that i am sure. We will have a facebook/Instagram presence. - ability to take facebook payments. Would like to take advantage of venmo and square cash app as well to offer as many payment/donation options as possible while keeping fees at a minimum. Anyone have suggestions on this or anything else in relation to setting up a small non-profit. I hope this post does not break any rules. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Order management - currently taking orders through Facebook & Instagram DM Posted: 31 Oct 2020 11:22 AM PDT I run a small business selling charcuterie boxes and we're currently taking orders through Instagram and Facebook dms. We're getting really busy and keeping up with orders, pick up times, payments and customizations is getting a overwhelming over DM. What are some recommendations for order management? I'm not opposed to moving orders over to Gmail or another software. Thank you [link] [comments] |
