Is there a color car that at-fault drivers tend to hit less?

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 10:33 AM PDT

Our current car has been in more accidents than we've had in decades. None our fault. We keep hearing "I didn't even see you," from the other drivers.

We don't drive excessively fast and have clean driving records.

When we buy a new car, I'd like to lean towards a color that inattentive are statistically more likely to notice.

Will State Farm fire a customer if said customer has a DUI and asks to add another insured? [LA]

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 05:53 PM PDT

Friend's boyfriend is so toxic at the moment that he drives her car progressive will drop her, if he wanted to be insured with them it would be $2,500 a month. He has State Farm for his car and it seems he is worried that instead adding her to his policy (she has a great record and this would allow him to legally drive her car) will trigger a review and a firing.

I don't think this is the case but I thought I would ask.

    Hobby Insurance

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 07:18 PM PDT

I sell candles on etsy but I do not have a business. When I do my taxes I claim the income as a hobby. I make candles just because I like doing it, not for a profit, so I would not qualify as a business. Can I get product insurance to cover my candle sales even though I am a hobby?

Help - I have BCBS of Alabama and they’re denying benefits my son is allowed (He is autistic)

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 12:50 PM PDT

My son is 3 years old and autistic (been diagnosed by a specialist) and we have provided the documentation to BCBS who have continually came back and denied it three times.

We are told the visits for his type of condition are unlimited if he has it and an F84.0 is submitted with the claim.

His doctors office showed us where they submitted with that code for his most recent visit and sent in an appeal for previous visits. Then BCBS said they didn't get the code showing it the first time nor did they get the attachment showing it so now they're faxing them to BCBS but since the latest came back denied with an F84.0 submitted with it I do not have any hopes.

Is there anything I can do? I'm already down 1,000$ due to them denying me and I really need to get this covered since it is supposed to be. Please, any help.

    copay accumulators

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 06:26 PM PDT

Has anyone ever heard of copay accumulators in regards to health insurance or PBM's? I had never heard of this term before until I read an article about drug assistance programs.

How does one tell if their plan uses a copay accumulator?

How does the plan know a patient used a copay assistance program to charge back the patient's deductible?

    Motorcycle Insurance

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 09:15 PM PDT

So progressive was charging me $2400 a year for motorcycle insurance. So I went to Geico and got it for $1300 a year ($118/monthly). I'm a fairly new rider in Los Angeles, CA. Age 27, single, no kids, no violations, no accidents. I barely bought my first 2015 Harley Davidson Iron 883 for 4k and the bike had 5k miles. Is this a good insurance policy? If not what would you change? I need your guidance expert riders or insurance personnel.

Shady adjuster, shady appraiser. Someone’s lying. What steps should I take?

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 07:10 PM PDT

My truck was hit from behind by another truck several weeks ago and it did a lot of damage. The girl who hit me had insurance and they accepted liability. I eventually got a rental to use.

Here's where the problems started: My truck was hit on September 9th. They accepted liability on the 16th, I got an estimate from their appraiser, and I dropped my truck off at the body shop I wanted to use. This is important for later: I sent the estimate to the body shop before I dropped my truck off. The guy who took my info laughed after seeing the appraisal in comparison to my truck's damage, so the appraisal was directly acknowledged.

A few days later on the 22nd I called the body shop to see what's up and how bad the damages are. They said they completed the supplement the day before (21st) and sent it to the insurance. Now on the 24th Hertz calls me and tells me I have to return the rental car because my cars repairs are complete. I tell them that can't be right but I couldn't contact anyone from the insurance that night. I get a call from the appraiser the next day who tells me he's been trying to get the supplement from the shop and they're ignoring him and not sending it. I said I talked to them days ago and they had sent the supplement in already? And then he says "no I haven't gotten it."

So within an hour that got resolved. Rental car is being paid for again. All good.

Fast forward to yesterday, the insurance stopped paying for the rental with no warning. I only found out because hertz called me right before they closed. I texted the adjuster and he said "the shop said their supplement was delayed because you didn't send the estimate until the the 21st" the 21st is also the day the supplement was made and sent to the insurance but the appraiser claimed he never got it. I said "that's not right, I sent it on the 16th" but he didn't care, the adjuster told me to take it up with the shop since they're the ones claiming I didn't send the estimate.

So I called the shop today and the guy said that no one at the shop ever said that and everything with the repairs lined up exactly how it's supposed to. They showed me proof of when the supplement was sent. The shop told me the appraiser likely dropped the ball and is trying to cover his ass by lying because they don't want to pay for the rental any longer.

So what should I do? The adjuster has been really unprofessional from the beginning, (I have the emails and texts to prove it) and the supervisor never answers any calls. I have the email for the district manager, would it be a bad idea to contact him about this? I just want my rental car covered.

Also:Not sure if it's relevant but it's a very large national company but not as popular as the really big guys, they don't have that much of a social media presence.

Question about insurance on a vehicle I'm buying from a private seller.

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 05:38 AM PDT

I am in the middle of purchasing my first vehicle from a lady that I used to work with. I set an appointment at the DMV to get it registered. The earliest I could get an appointment was November 9th because of COVID.

My question is that in order for me to get it registered I need to have insurance on the vehicle. How am I supposed to put insurance on a vehicle that is not in my name? Any help would be appreciated.

State Farm dropped my insurance without notice. What do I do?

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 02:51 PM PDT

I admit, I'm not great about being proactive and keeping tabs on my policy, having updated insurance cards in my car etc. My monthly payment goes out automatically from my bank account and auto renews when it needs to. I was pulled over today for speeding and the officer told me that my insurance was expired. I was flabbergasted because State Farm was still pulling money out monthly for insurance.

I got back home and call State Farm only to be found out they dropped me in May without notice so I had been driving with no insurance for 5 months now, and having no idea of that. The representative was shocked as well that there was no noticed but explained I was dropped possibly due to being seen as high risk due to a no-fault claim (car hit my vehicle while pulling out of a parking lot while I was totally stopped). The payments being taken out were just for renters insurance, which explains why it was so low but here I was thinking it was some generous gesture of lowering insurance payments due to COVID. Lol silly me.

So they dropped me without notice which I believe is against the law in Texas. They told me to call my agent to get details Monday morning. I'm already looking for quotes for new insurance companies. I'm naturally pissed but is there any point in calling my agent and bitching them out over not informing me? Should I just cut my losses and move on or what?

    Rental car insurance question

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 06:33 PM PDT

Hey folks. I know these rental car insurance questions are asked a lot and while I did a search, I couldn't find an answer to my question.

I'm heading back to Texas soon and will need a car to get around. However, since I'm in NYC, I don't have a car hence no car insurance.

So for the sake of a bit of peace of mind, can I go ahead and waive the rental car insurance and just keep with my credit card insurance? Or maybe get a 3rd party insurance? I'm planning to stay in town for 3 weeks and per day insurance would really add up.

    Thanks for the help.

    WHO'S RESPONSIBLE ~-~Renters Insurance Question~-~

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 06:18 PM PDT

I have been living in a new apartment for about 3 weeks before installing a washing machine.. and that's how I got here..

    USA, TEXAS

I live in a 2-story apartment where the living space sits on top of the garage.

About a week ago I purchased a washer and dryer set. The warranty on the washer says i need to use the new water hoses that came with the washer to remain in warranty.. and the hoses provided by the apartment looked old and cracking.

When removing the old water hoses, the cold one comes off fine. the hot one was rusted onto the connection and was not able to be removed as easily. (i didn't notice this until after)

I used both hands to try to unscrew the connection and that's when i felt the waterline (which is made of pvc plastic) snap/crack. Water begins spraying upwards but mostly landing in the waste water drain. Water is also pouring out of the fire sprinkler in the garage. The same goes for my next door neighbors as they rang my doorbell to tell me within minutes.

The neighbors tell me they have had some water issues and tell me how to shut off the water from the apartment (in the garage on the water heater) HOWEVER, the hot water line shut off valve is completely broken with no way to turn it unless by pliers.

Maintenance crew comes, shuts off the water. Cuts open the drywall to let it breathe and installs some fans. To prevent mold i assume. They come back in the morning to fix the lines/connections and installed my washer. Before leaving they tell me a contractor will be here in about a week to fix the rest.

Several days later the apartment property calls me asking for my insurance claim number. I was not told that i had to file one and still have not.

Am i responsible for the water damage done to my drywall and neighbors? Or is the apartment complex for having shitty plumbing?

Need some help on what to do moving forward with this?

    Thanks,

    j

(CA) Rear end accident involving 3 cars

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 12:02 PM PDT

For starters; I'm at fault. I filed a claim last month for a parking lot incident, the damages were minor and I was deemed at fault. This accident totaled my car (it old, but strong), (likely) totaled the car mine hit, and dented the bumper of the car she hit.

I've never had such a severe accident, and it's especially concerning because I only have the bare minimum $5000 and my insurance already assumes damages will be above that.

I realize I'm a terrible driver, that I made a huge mistake going with the cheapest plan, and that I may be sued and/or lose my license. I'm anxious as to what happens next, and how I can end this as quickly as possible. In the event they want me to pay of out pocket, I literally have nothing. No savings, no assets (I HAD my car), I make minimum wage.

My questions are: What should I brace myself for?

The party with the least damage has the same insurance as me, is that better or worse?

What is the likely good of me losing my license and/or my insurance dropping me?

Is there anything I can do beyond wait at this point?

Parents want me to insure totaled vehicle

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 09:43 PM PDT

I am warned that the insurance may total my 2005 Nissan Frontier the collision caused a lot of damage on a vehicle that has 5,000 value at this point. My parents argued that they will go along with the collateral and auction it off but I refused and demanded that we have put to much time and money into it and that I will pay for the insurance "deductible" if it's in my budget range of 1.000-1,500$.They agree but just now they demand I pay for insurance because they say trying to insurer a "totaled" vehicle or I'm guessing salvage vehicle will be far to expensive for them. The issue is the vehicle is registered under then don't I have to register the freeking vehicle under my name etc???? It's not under my name!

Total Loss Valuation for my Car Advice

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 07:54 AM PDT

Hey insurance lovers and haters alike, I recently got into an accident with an 18 wheeler from a popular American moving company. Truck Driver was making an illegal right turn into a travel center (I happen to work at) on a 4 lane two-way road. I was traveling down the right lane to go home and change for work. He is in the left lane (same direction) and turns right (without a signal) in front of my lane hitting me. I was able to guide my car around with the turn preventing possible fatal damage to me or my car. The car is not worth much, in resell or current value, but it was nice for me because of functional value. ( I commute to school 2 - 3 times a week about 70 miles away one way). It is badly damaged but still drivable only I now have to enter through my passenger door because driver door does not open. My initial plan before the accident was to drive this car until it died. Actively saving up and purchasing another car in cash to prevent a monthly payment. I understand that the car will be considered a total loss at this point. I would prefer to avoid legal action, if possible. Primarily, my reasons are that I am not injured past initial impact pains. I also would like to prevent this from a delayed conclusion of 8 months or more. My question is to any current or former adjusters. Are there any negotiation tips for guaranteeing I'll get some type of settlement/payout that guarantees me a car of equal functional value and paying for my initial medical clearance from the hospital after the accident.

TX - Auto at fault carrier is only accepting 80% liability.

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 10:12 AM PDT

My BiL only carries liability and UM. Can he file arbitration? Also if the arbiter finds in his favor would the responsible party be responsible for the cost involved in doing so. Sorry if this is more of a legal advice question, any input is appreciated. My thought is he needs to answer for himself whether he thinks it's worth the time/cost since it's only property damage and the car is only worth ~$5000. Problem is I just don't know if it's something he can do or if there are any resources available to him.

Question: buying in an area that just started wildfire evacuation.

    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 07:43 AM PDT

The land is expensive because it's forested and has great views, the structure is small, older and not the main value (simple rebuild). If we owned the land, how would fire insurance pay out? How does insurance compensate for tree loss, if at all? Complete loss of surrounding forest expected. Yes, we're considering canceling the contract. Thank you.
