Anyone get the feeling of just wanting to take a break till the economy bounces back? Posted: 07 Aug 2020 04:18 AM PDT I am following FIRE and have assets mainly in cash and the stock market. This question is intended specifically for this subreddit where people have some kind of "fuck you money." I was an independent consultant for the last two years and when COVID hit, my last contract ended. I saw the writing on the wall from my other freelancer friends who were not getting new work anymore, and joined a company as an employee. Luckily I was able to do that pretty quickly. However the company is also not doing well and I am under a lot of pressure. Sure I am learning a lot but its like a sink or swim environment and I am not sure I will be able to swim long enough. With the economy slowdown, is anyone entertaining thoughts of just getting out of the rat race for 2020 and hope for better times in 2021? The two main concerns I have for this are:
Also, another point is that I can't really move to Thailand or Cambodia to ride out the winter in a LCOL country. Maybe this will change in a month or two. Your thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Does anyone have MORE now but feel like they have LESS? Posted: 07 Aug 2020 09:53 AM PDT Lately I have been watching the numbers go up but feeling like I have less. When I was 21, I took a vacation that cost me around $8,000. I only had around $50,000 to my name at the time. Fast forward to many years and lessons later, I would absolutely NEVER take a vacation like that despite having almost 8x the amount of money. I spent $200 in the grocery store (I'm single) the other day and almost fainted. Does anyone else feel like this? [link] [comments] |
