    PA sucks.

Done with the constantly getting grilled or in trouble for things that are not your fault. Always feeling like you're not Good enough or could be doing more despite passing all your CPA exams and excelling in school. Done with juggling 100 things at a time, being told not to code OT yet expected to meet and exceed all deadlines and budgets. Not being trained at all and then asked why you didn't know every little detail the same way someone with 20 years of experience does. Done with working with the least down to earth type A personalities I have encountered in my entire lifetime. Lastly SO done with having to worry both endlessly about unreasonable budgets and getting enough billable hours in the same breath. That's it, I'm getting the f out of public. It's not worth my sanity anymore.

Like financial modeling and evaluation for financial analysts.

Did you learn it in your free time or did you learn it while on the job?

    Nothing left to give

    Posted: 11 May 2020 04:12 PM PDT

Hi all, I just had to get this off my chest. I work as a managerial accounting essentially for private equity firms. My company has extreme turnover and my department is currently staffed at 50%. I have nothing left to give this company, I haven't been able to sleep well in months and just don't know how much longer I can take it.

I interviewed for a government job today and fingers crossed I can get an offer. But if I don't I just don't know how I'm going to push through the stress. I'm so tired of this industry and don't think I can make it more than a few more months at my current firm.

Anyone have any experience with volunteer small business consulting?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 07:54 PM PDT

I'm a recent grad who is starting in industry after graduation. My primary goal is to pass the CPA exams, but afterwards I just don't see myself working a 9-5 then going home. I would really like to volunteer and use the skills I have to help other people.

I stumbled across a few listings for Small Business Consulting volunteering and it is something that I think I would enjoy.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Do employers care about your GPA if you pass the CPA exam?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 05:27 PM PDT

I'm currently studying accounting in undergrad, not planning on applying to grad school. After this past semester, my GPA took a significant hit because of these unforeseen circumstances and I'm worried that a deflated GPA will hurt my chances of employment in the future. However, if I pass all portions of the CPA exam, will employers overlook my deflated GPA because they know I'm at least capable of passing the exam? I know being a new graduate, I will have barely any experience because I'm fresh in the field and GPA will bear more weight. I'm just a little stressed right now and would like some guidance/reassurance.

Can you be an intern twice

    Posted: 11 May 2020 03:45 PM PDT

Another company in my town is advertising for next January. I am technically still a student for 4 more days, can I qualify?

(And no, this has nothing to do with getting paid hourly again... unless...)

Is there any point in doing a leadership conference if I already accepted an internship?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 03:40 PM PDT

I have a a virtual leadership conference at the end of the month with an accounting firm. I was looking forward to it but now that it's online I'm not that interested. I also recently accepted a 2021 internship so it's not like I'll be considering this firm for a position next summer.

Should I still attend the leadership conference or should I just let the recruiter know that I accepted another offer? Thanks.

    Hello,

For a 401k plan financial statement, where do the financial statement balances and income come from? Do they come from the Form 5500? I need to prepare financials & I have the 5500. This is the first audit for the plan so this is the first time preparing them.

Does Big 4 at NY have any benefits in terms of career trajectory compared to other locations in terms of pay, work flow, people, and exit opportunities?
