[Big 4] Being Monitored While Working From Home

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 09:42 AM PDT

I work in Big 4 in audit, is anyone else being monitored while working from home?

Our manager makes the staff join a zoom meeting with webcam on while we work throughout the day to make sure we're actually working.. They even time our lunch breaks.

I'm not the only team in the office that has to deal with this so i was wondering if this was specific to my office...

Hearing rumours that the whole of KPMG is going down to 80% salary for 4 months - and 200 people are getting made redundant today. No pay cuts for those on < $60k AUD.

    Accounting Internship Cancelled

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 11:29 AM PDT

MNP (midsized canadian firm) summer internship cancelled due to shortage of work. But was offered a full-time position when I graduate next time this year. Decent news, kind of lame that i'm out of work though.

When switching back and forth between two Excel files

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 08:25 AM PDT

Just got laid off. I’m looking for suggestions on things to learn to make me less expendable in the future, like PYTHON and SQL. Does anyone have any good resources for learning these, or any suggestions on other things to learn during quarantine?

I was a tax preparer at a small firm in Michigan. I'm currently a student, and my only class right now is Intermediate 2 and it's online. So I have tons of time! Sadly.

    Big 4 offer on hold

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 09:05 PM PDT

Got contacted by a Big 4 recruiter and was told that I passed the final round of interviews, but they have to put extending the offer on hold for some weeks to see how the market develops. Thoughts on what my chances are on getting an offer within 2 months?

Responding to emails after being let go?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 12:18 PM PDT

I was let go on Thursday, with today officially being my first date "separated". I have a small severance agreement I haven't signed yet because I want to make sure I can collect unemployment during this time (if you receive after 30 days you can collect). I have to wait until the 10th for this.

These fools just emailed me asking me for a password for something / how to do something. I'm livid. It would take me 2 seconds to respond back, but after working the longest hours out of anyone and being trashed like that, I have no desire to help. Am I being ridiculous and risking my severance? I know I'm being ridiculous. But like... seriously? Lol

UPDATE: I just did it. Better for them to look like fools who lost a hard worker than me to look like a jerk honestly, and I can always use another good reference.

In B4, how soon can you ask for a location transfer?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 03:47 PM PDT

I want to end up living in Dallas (family is there) but my college only has recruiters from inside Florida so it is pretty unrealistic to think I can get a gig in Dallas. I am going to have to start B4 in Tampa.

How soon after I start can I ask for a location transfer? I just want to be back in Dallas no later than 5 years after I start if that is possible.
