The average family can't afford to buy a home in 71% of the country Posted: 29 Dec 2019 08:43 PM PST As a decade-long economic boom pushes into 2020, affording a home isn't expected to become much easier for the average American, according to recent reports. Average wage earners can't afford to buy a home in 344 of 486 counties, or 71% of the U.S., according to a fourth-quarter analysis from real estate research firm Attom Data Solutions. That's just a slight improvement from from 73% in the third quarter and 75% a year earlier, the Attom report found. One reason for the glacial pace of improvement? A booming real estate market amid lower mortgage rates. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Dec 2019 10:02 AM PST Some of my hottest picks of the year have been $RBS and $BCS RBS and Barclays have performed well and I bought them at the height of the Brexit drama prior to the election, when Boris lost the no conf vote. Both have performed very well since. My personal view is US banking sector is overvalued like the Hulk and the prices don't justify the underlying balance sheets. British Banks are an attractive investment. [link] [comments] |

How important is current ratio (mrq) to you? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 08:51 AM PST It's a very important metric I use, even though it is not bullet proof. Since I play in a lot of biotech and pharma sectors which are in development stages of ph1, ph2, NDA etc., this metric has been useful to me to detect if the company has a cash crunch to meet short term debt and they will drop a surprise secondary offering, warrants, gypsy swaps and all kinds of effery to screw retail. If they are below 1, I have definitely told myself that offering is on the way soon and 3 out of 5 times it always happened. What other metrics do you use? I often find P/E ratio useless in pharma and biotech because many don't have revenue yet because of the development stages. For starters: current ratio most recent quarter is a simple division of short terms assets by short term liabilities. If ratio is higher, it means the company have $$$ to meet its obligations and "WILL NOT NEED TO DILUTE" via offerings or lowering warrant prices. [link] [comments] |
Best Canadian Platform for Pre-Market Trading? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 04:43 AM PST I use Questrade, but their pre-market hours don't start until 7:30 am, and I am sick of doing the research and making good picks only to watch the potential gains get eaten up before I am able to buy! Does any Canadian trader use a good pre/post market platform that allows us to trade on the NASDAQ and NYSE similar to Americans? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Dec 2019 09:25 PM PST So I just recently started investing and I have 5 shares of Apple and was wondering if it would be dumb to purchase a lot more shares? I'm tempted to do so soon because all signs indicate that 2020 will be a huge year for Apple in terms of their completely brand new iPhone and 5G technology. What do you all think? Posted: 30 Dec 2019 06:26 AM PST This is nuts - It only has a 1.5 million float. Could be a couple dollars with a few trades. Went Pink current. Seems like a big company, if you look at the 12+ filings they submitted in the last 3 weeks. On watch for Merger PR. Think I am gonna wait till their first press release.
