What UK companies are on the radar for 2020? With Brexit still looming and now a General election at the door. It seems that while the markets are still down it's a good time to buy?

5G is getting rolled out soon so could companies like BT get a boost?

How d companies’ stocks gain or lose value?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 04:29 AM PST

I'm 16, and have only been looking at the market for few months. I have been buying and selling shares and profiting. If a company's value and their stock market value are two different things, how do shares rise and fall?

I'd like to purchase Amazon (AMZN) options but I am unable to find any platform on which to purchase them. I have looked at the CMEgroup website, the Mtl exchange website and the NASDAQ website. I am searching for a website where I can buy/sell these options.

Have any of you have ever read the book "Rich Dad Poor Dad", by Kiyosaki? I'm sure many of you have. There are some great takeaways from the book, obviously Kiyosaki himself is kind of a fraud, but the teachings of assets vs. liabilities is solid. Whether it's stocks, bonds, real estate,?or running your own personal business, there are a million ways to make money. Let me know what you think!

Over the last year or so I've realized I have too much of my capital invested in the market. I would like to get out of some positions but I know it's bad to sell everything at once. What is the best way to reduce ones holdings and modify my portfolio. What approach should I take?

Why stock-market investors should fear a 2020 election ‘sweep’ most of all

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 11:44 AM PST

'Fear of a unified government' is substantial: BTIG's Emanuel

Investors worried about how the stock market will react to next year's federal elections shouldn't take their cue from the presidential horse race alone.

Instead, they should pay close attention to prospects that either Democrats are on track to take control of the Senate, where Republicans currently hold a majority, or that Republicans are on track to take back the House, said Julian Emanuel, chief equity and derivatives strategist at BTIG.

Odds of either happening appear small at present. But if that were to change equity markets could sell off before voters go to the polls, he said.

That's because "fear of such a unified government outcome on Election Day 2020 is substantial at the same time that confidence, so very important to markets and economies, remains fragile albeit stabilizing," Emanuel said in a Sunday note. Survey data and other indicators show chief executives remain wary of the futures and hesitant about planning, particularly with regard to capital spending, as the trade wars have taken "both a psychological and a real toll on businesses," he said.

Buying 15% dips on DJI (CFD trading)

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 05:31 AM PST

    Hi all,

I've been testing out a theory. If I were to wait for 15% market decline in the Dow Jones Index and simply buy it there and any further decline of another 15% (up to a total of 45%) I would make very good returns over a life time. No matter where you start in the history of the DJI you'll make a very good return over 20 years. I live in Ireland so I have access to spread betting which is a tax free way of betting on all sorts of instruments. In this example I can buy the DJI futures contract (7point spread) which does not charge over night fees (just a roll over spread upon contact expiry every quarter).

Does anyone see major holes in my logic? It seems boring enough only taking one trade a year but the results seems good and steady.

One downside I do see is I began this strategy now and we entered a bear market I'd have to hold through the entirety of it before making some gains but with the long term goal in mind 2/3/4 year bear market is a short term risk that you just account for.

Thanks for any help or insight!

    Calling traders in Bangkok

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 02:03 AM PST

This is kind of a shot in the dark, but...

I'm wondering if there are any traders out here in Bangkok looking to meet up and just chat about market stuff over a few beers. Could be equities, options, forex, crypto, swing trades, day trades, investing..anything really. I have my fair share of stories and I'm sure you do too. May be we can learn a thing or two from each other.

Living in Thonglo area but willing to meet anywhere in BKK.
