Anyone familiar with depreciation rules around donated assets to for profit business?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 12:14 AM PST

Really specific question.... I have found a few sources that say you can depreciate assets that are donated to your business. Was wondering if anyone had any insight into the nuances; how would this work? Are there any limitations? Can a person donate an asset to their own business?

Any help is appreciated in advance.

I need some advice on Instagram business legalities!

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 11:51 PM PST

I am trying to start an instagram-based side hustle while I'm working part time in order to earn money for college

Simply put, I run an instagram page that specializes in workouts that I've written myself that are inspired by pop culture characters. Gaming, movies, etc.

I am gaining enough traction to move into doing individual consultations where I can potentially charge money at cheap rates for more personalized plans.

Here's the catch: I am not NASM Certified, and I do not have any certifications. I'd like a certification, but I unfortunately do not have 500-1500$ to spare on such a certificate.

I know plenty of individuals train clients without certification, but here are my questions:

-As the seller/producer of my product/service, what can I do to clarify that I have no responsibility over the person if they injure themselves? It will entirely be online, so no immediate physical assistance will be given on my part

-What legal ramifications am I forgetting about or overlooking in this situation?

-is there existing documentation or an acknowledgement that I can use and have the consumer sign before giving them my service?

-what legal advice or business advice can you offer on the matter?

Who does a business hire to approach another company/private person to purchase an asset of theirs?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 08:20 PM PST

Like is there an individual that a company hires that specializes in making contact and closing the deal? Or is it just the company's attorney that does it considering he/she will have to step in at some point anyway to hammer out the details on paper for both parties to sign. Sorry if it is stupid but i was just wondering about that today for some reason while operating a wheel loader, random... i know.

Have you guys noticed that : eating out is very difficult and expensive.

    in an area, typically,

You find few outlets selling pizza or burger, you find sometimes a restaurant in which meals are quite expensive, and that's it.

Here you have : only few foods, and they are expensive

    You can eat almost nothing,

    Eating out is nearly impossible

    Do you guys see ?

    This model is very inefficient

    Something important is missing

It is : a restaurant where food keeps changing, food changes every day

    Chefs also rotate

This restaurant is going to serve thousands of foods over the course of time

A meal is going to be cheap

You will be able to eat thousands of foods

Eating out will finally become possible

    This model is way better

Tips on getting work for an already successful business

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 10:37 AM PST

    Hey everyone.

My dad owns an upholstery shop and has over 31 years of experience clearing nearly 250K a year. Hes won some awards for his upholstery for cars that have entered World of Wheels and also for some boats that have made covers of magazines in our local area. I recently started working for him and business has started to slump so were out of work right now. Were located in a largely populated lake city and our usual business is boats or just recovering some tears in boat seats. Ive been tasked with advertisement and have posted on our local Facebook marketplace and groups and craigslists. Were really wanting to get into recovering restaurants booths, bars, etc and was wondering if there was any sort of forum for restaurants seeking services or something like that. Any other tips on advertisement would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: We have also dropped business cards in our area, gyms, bars, marinas, co op, gas stations
