- Not surprised Fed lowered rates again, unfortunately, this is simply postponing the inevitable. Inventory rising, slowing growth, unemployment numbers missing. What I see if Fed backing themself into a corner. When a recession does hit it will limit there options to assist.

AT&T’s Stankey: Here’s why we’re charging more than Netflix and other rivals for HBO Max Posted: 30 Oct 2019 08:10 AM PDT WarnerMedia released details of its upcoming streaming service, HBO Max, on Tuesday. The service will cost $14.99 per month. Stankey on Wednesday emphasized that HBO Max's content will set the service apart from competitors. Netflix is currently up 4%!! What are your thoughts on Brookfields BEP and BIP? Posted: 30 Oct 2019 06:59 PM PDT I feel as thought these are two great investments and will be bound to go up in the long run and maintain a good dividend due to their strategy. BUT, are the prices just too high right now? They are up like 50% this year. Idk what to do but I rly want in. Thanks for any advice!! Significant Insider Trading Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 30 Oct 2019 08:48 AM PDT This is a list of the top 20 companies that experienced the largest change in insider shares in the last seven (7) days. The SEC defines an insider as any officer, director or 10% shareholder. It is not illegal for these people to buy or sell their own shares. In fact, since most of them get paid in stock options, it is expected. However, it is illegal for them to trade on inside information that has not been made public. So for example if there are drug trial results that are bad and not public, insiders cannot dump shares. That said, many people have observed that insiders - in general - seem to have a good track record at timing their purchases. All trades that are marked as part of a 10b5 plan are excluded from this report. Largest Insider Buying (Last 7 Days)Largest Insider Selling (Last 7 Days)

Why Can Stock Prices Fall After Positive Earnings? Posted: 30 Oct 2019 11:58 AM PDT I am trying to learn more about earnings calls and how they affect stock valuations. I am seeing a couple of companies (ie. $RCL which reported its highest 3rd quarter earnings ever) that had solid/positive earnings reports before market open today, yet the share value is down 4% as of right now. Why would a stock fall on positive earnings? Fed cuts rates for third meeting in a row, signals pause Posted: 30 Oct 2019 12:14 PM PDT FOMC statement removes pledge to 'act as appropriate' when talking about rate-cut flexibility The Federal Reserve cut its benchmark interest rate for the third straight meeting and signaled it may pause to see whether these easing steps are enough to sustain the economic expansion. At the policy meeting on Wednesday, officials said they would lower the federal-funds target rate by a quarter percentage point, to between 1.5%-1.75%. In taking this action, the Fed cited "the implications of global developments for the economic outlook as well as muted inflation pressures." In essence, these rate cuts are insurance against a recession. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/fed-cuts-rates-for-third-meeting-in-a-row-signals-pause-2019-10-30 [link] [comments]

I want to understand the causes of stock movements. What tools are there to help? Posted: 30 Oct 2019 02:18 PM PDT Hello Everyone, I had an inquiry regarding the recent elimination of commission prices on various prominent trading platforms. Is this a indication of the inability to even "become profitable" anymore? Considering the plethora of costs for Overhead, Worker Compen., Slippage, etc. P.S. - Individuals who have been trading/investing for 5 - 10 years +, will understand the saliency of commissions. Please informed responses solely Thanks [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Oct 2019 12:51 PM PDT When people got scared in old times they would go to the bank and try to get their money back, meaning everyone would want to take their money from the bank at the same time. That would collapse the bank as it never had enough money to pay back the customers. What if the similar situation happens with ETFs? ETFs are issued by a company which might or might not buy all 100% of underlying assets for that ETFs to be covered. So what will happen if everyone wants to get rid of ETFs at the same time? ETF's underlying securities lending is legally allowed so institutions issuing ETFs might not have enough underlying securities at any given time. Do I miss something here? Posted: 30 Oct 2019 12:04 PM PDT So it seems that Buy and Sell Walls seem to be only relevant to crypto. I haven't heard equity traders talk much about this topic, and my professors have never heard of these terms. I was wondering if buy and sell walls are a thing in the stock market. I'm assuming no because crypto. is still nascent and because volumes are so low for less popular cryptos; Walls can be created. Also it's not standardized compared to the stock market which might have some related regulation that prevents large walls from happening. Pokemon GO Crosses $3 Billion in Revenue Posted: 29 Oct 2019 09:40 PM PDT https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/pokemon-go-crosses-3-billion-revenue App tracking service Sensor Tower has recently come out with a report that shows Pokemon GO's lifetime gross revenue, which has crossed the unbelievably large $3 billion milestone. This 10-digit revenue comes after the game has been downloaded about 541 million times worldwide. It hasn't been a record year for Pokemon GO by the numbers; the biggest earning year for the game was still the year it launched, at a whopping $832 million for 2016. The second-highest year was 2018 with $816 million. With two months left in the year, it stands to reason that 2019 could catch up to either of those numbers. After all, September did account for $126 million in revenue, accounting for over 15% of the revenue for the year. Let's talk Tim Sykes and Warrior Trading Posted: 30 Oct 2019 05:22 PM PDT A couple of months ago, I was subscribed to tim sykes chatroom and had purchased a few of his DVDs. Well worth it! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find what I needed, which was a real time strategy. This is when I went on youtube and typed "daytrading strategies." The idea obviously being to find someone more experienced who'd be willing to share their strategies. Tim sykes strategies are great and they appear to work, but they aren't for me. I stumbled on warrior trading. Now spending an extra $200 a month was kind of ridiculous, seeing as I've only made a few trades since following tim. I've been treating it like school where you get educated, get a degree, then work. Since joining the warrior room last month, I've made a few successful trades and a few unsuccessful ones. Unfortunately, they didn't pan out like I expected. My emotions got the best of me, and I ended up losing on them. Circling back to warrior, he calls out his positions live, which is useful to see what his though process is and emulate it. I use robinhood as my broker and I'm never quick enough to get my orders in. By the time I hear the call, I'm not able to fill the order fast enough. I usually use a market order, which allows a trader to get a quicker order. I've been reluctant to use stop orders. Now, my question to you all is this, since tim and warrior have different trading methods, which is the more profitable one long-term. Meaning which can make me serious cash quicker. I know it sounds silly, but I'm genuinely curious which style is better to learn. Should I go back to tim, or stick with warrior? I'm renewing my subscription soon, so feedback would be great! Significant Activist Hedge Fund Activity (Last 7 Days) Posted: 30 Oct 2019 08:49 AM PDT These are the latest Schedule 13D forms filed by activist investors in the last 7 days. Activist investors are investors that make an investment with the intention of influencing management in some way. There is evidence that following activist investors into investments can generate excess returns. Schedule 13G forms, in contrast, are filed by significant investors with no intention of influencing management (such as Index funds). There is always a lot of interest in insider trades, but what a lot of people probably don't realize is that hedge fund activity is probably more predictive of future returns than insider activity. The reason is that hedge funds (a) have large research budgets, and (b) have a choice where to put their money. In contract, insiders have no choice where to put their money, but only when to time their transactions. New FilingsThis table lists new 13D filings in the last week. A new filing does not necessarily indicate a new position, as investors frequently accumulate in advance before reaching the filing threshold. Amended FilingsThis table lists amended filings in the last week, and is useful for monitoring changes in existing investments or when a fund closes a position. I have eliminated all filings with less than a 5% change in ownership. Best Investing Books - Rich Dad Poor Dad Posted: 30 Oct 2019 02:10 PM PDT One of the first books that I ever read on investing, along with "The Intelligent Investor" was "Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Kiyosaki. This book definitely changed my way of thinking. Up until 2018 I only had stocks and equities in my portfolio, i have since rolled the winnings from my stock portfolio over into two duplexes to provide significant cash flow. I think real estate will outperform equities over the next 5 years. I could be entirely wrong, but nonetheless I'm taking some money off the table and purchasing something REAL. Let me know what you think of this book review! [link] [comments] |
