Insurance Company says my license is invalid, TN Driver Services says it's valid. What is going on here?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 01:30 PM PDT

I am trying to switch Auto Insurance companies in TN. When I go through the process the company says my license is invalid and starts talking about SR22s, I've never had a DUI, EVER.

So I go to Driver Service's here and they say that my license is valid and that there is no reason that the company should be reporting as such.

I've ordered an MVR and I've tried coming at this problem from every angle including getting a new license. I'm at wits end! This is the difference between $290.61/mo (current insurance) and $133.45 (potential new insurance).

Update: MVR request got rejected. Shrugs

Car Insurance company didnt notify me of claim, then sent debt collection agency .

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 07:56 PM PDT

For context, this is in Australia and the other parties insurer is RACV. So about 10 months ago I slightly scraped a car in a car park and left my info so the other party could contact me. They contacted me and then claimed the damage with their insurer, RACV. I thought I would wait to see what the damage was before making my own claim as it looked minimal and I thought it would have been cheaper to pay for the repair and not raise my premiums over making a claim and paying my excess.

Fast forward a few months and I call the other parties insurance agency to see where everything is at. When speaking to the insurance agency they said that there is no claim against me. I ask why this would be and they suggest maybe the other party decided not to follow through with the repair or claim. I then asked if there was anything else I need to do in regards to the claim and they said that there was nothing as it is all sorted.

Fast forward about another 6 months and I then receive a debt collection notice in the mail. I then email the insurance agency to follow up(they have not once replied to an email, only called back). After an hour or so on the phone, I then get hold of someone who then lets me know that they made a mistake in not sending me the information and that they will immediately withdraw the debt collection agency from my case.As it stands approximately a month later, I have received no contact from the other parties insurance and I'm not sure whether or not I should pay my ridiculous excess or wait and see if they will contact me.

Since the accident, I have changed insurance companies from the one I was with at the time.

Need advice dealing with the car insurance people.

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 09:53 PM PDT

I was rear ended about a month ago damaging the rear bumper, and the other guy readily accepted fault. His insurance company decided that my car was totaled and are offering the book value of the car. But the thing is, my car was an '04 mustang 40th anniversary convertible with barely 72k miles on it. With the amount that they're offering I can't find anything comparable. I'm really frustrated and stressed and don't know what to do. Any advice?

    HSA remibursement question

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 03:35 PM PDT

Background: I am on a high deductible plan since February 2019 and have accumulated a good amount of money in my HSA. I got married to my partner earlier this July and she got added to my high deductible healthcare plan as well (following the QLE - the marriage).

My question is this: Will I be able to request my HSA to reimburse us for the funds for the eligible healthcare expenses she incurred between Feb. 2019 and July 2019 when we were neither married nor was she in my healthcare plan?

Edit: Sorry for the title typo - I meant reimbursement.

I have insurance pending cancelation waiting on underwriting.

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 02:50 PM PDT

So I have a cancellation of insurance policy for next Wednesday pending I replace the old water heater. I replaced it and my insurance agent pictures about 6 days ago. We are just waiting to hear from underwriting. If they don't approve of it or review in time is the email with picture sufficient to say I did replace it and I would be covered in the time it took for them to review. Or should I find a new provider?

    Homeowners Claim question...

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 03:20 PM PDT

Long read. So I just filed a claim and my agent says it is 50/50 as to if it will be denied or accepted. I want to know what I can say/do to get it accepted, or at least understand why it might be denied.

Last Wednesday, my wife noticed a smell. Normally it is because I need to take out the trash, but she thought this one was a lil different. Obviously, since I am a guy, I didn't notice really. Thursday, I come into the unoccupied house to get my lunch, and I smelled it. It wasn't cool, like trash. Anyway, I got my lunch and went to work. When I got home from work, my wife found the problem. I had about an inch of standing water under the dishwasher. I got the shop vac and used it to clean up the standing water. I then ran the dishwasher and saw it fill up again. So I thought the leak was coming from the dishwasher.

When I tried to remove the dishwasher, I was unable because when the tile was installed last year, there is about a 1" lip from the tile to the concrete floor thus making the dishwasher pretty much stuck. No problem, we were planning to remodel the kitchen next year and we already bought appliances late last year when sears went under. So I had a brand new dishwasher sitting in the garage ready for install.

So I grabbed the saws-all and cut the dishwasher out. Pretty easy. I assessed the damage, and there was mold, but mostly on the insulation around the dishwasher cabinet. I guess the previous owner put up fiberglass insulation inside of the dishwasher space to reduce noise. After it was cut out, I used absorbent dust to clean up the remaining moisture. Every few minutes, I would rinse my hands and then I noticed more water was coming in.

The leak was coming from the sink drain, not the dishwasher. The leak was coming from behind the cabinet and where the pipe goes into the wall. So I immediately stopped putting water down there, cleaned up the remaining moisture again, and put an air purifier where the dishwasher was located while we went on a pre-planned family trip for 4 days.

While on my trip, I was able to take some time to think a lil more clearly. I decided to call a plumber and have him fix the leak, and then we would figure out what to do to the damaged cabinets. The cabinet for the sink was damaged and the one for the dishwasher was damaged due to standing water.

The plumber came out today, looked at the problem and said I need to remove the cabinets completely before he can get in there to replace the drain arm within the exterior block wall. He also said I should submit a homeowners claim.

I called and submitted the claim, everything so far is ok, but the claim rep was asking me about mold and also said a few times that they don't cover damage that has gone on over a period of time. But the period of time was actually not well defined. My agent says "sudden and unexpected", but does my timeframe match up with that? Also my agent said that since mold takes a long period of time to develop, that just the presence of mold will cause a claim to be denied due to it not being sudden and unexpected.

Does anyone have any idea how to get this approved? The cabinets are a very custom size, so the replacement is going to be pretty high in price. It will require a completely new kitchen because you cant just replace 2-3 of the affected cabinets, as nothing will match.

Do I need to have medical benefits expense coverage if I already have health insurance?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 10:15 AM PDT

I am currently shopping for motorcycle insurance, and an option for medical benefits expense coverage came up. Is this worth the extra cost if I already have health insurance through my employer?

We have BCBS, if that matters.

    escooter accident

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 02:13 PM PDT

I was riding an e-scooter and a car turned into my path at the traffic light and we hit each other. The driver's insurance company says its my fault and is making a claim on me for $1500 to fix the car. I am 18 and a poor college student, I do not have a lawyer or anything and I do not have that kind of money. Any advice on how to avoid this $1500 bill - I cant afford this. I need some advice before I get back to them.

Can i put multiple accidents on 1 claim?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 04:43 PM PDT

Essentially, i have a truck in a major city and the whole side of my truck has various scrapes and dents from hitting a pole or side of the building as I'm pulling out of my parking spot because it's so tight.

There's like 5 total and stretch from the front side bumper all the way to the back side bumper.

Can I just pay one deductible and have this all fixed?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 01:32 PM PDT

With the new iPhone update to ios13.?.? the iPhone does not block unknown calls back can silence them if not recognized anywhere in the phone history,(even if sent in email). Has anyone thought of a work around for this function. I know the scammers are already looking.

Does liability follow the driver when driving an uninsured car?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 09:32 AM PDT

I recently got into an accident and only afterwards found out that my policy had lapsed. I'm not sure how that didn't come up when the police ran our information but now I'm in a bind. My wife and I have had two insurance professionals tell us that the policy on her car (full coverage) should cover the damages of the vehicle I hit (liability) since I am on her policy, but when I called their claims department they said it wouldn't because the car I was driving was not on the policy. Am I getting yanked around here or shouldn't the liability of my wife's policy cover me as a driver of another vehicle since I am on the policy? Isn't that how it works with a rental?

Question regarding comprehensive insurance (GEICO) Long and short version

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 01:05 PM PDT

Hi guys, my 29 boyfriend bought a 2006 Mazda 3 for $2000. He just started driving since he's from the city so he doesn't want to add collision since it's not worth it. We live in a rural area of North shore Long Island New York and we have a pretty bad forecast of overpopulation of deer right now and it's not even winter yet.

I see that it's $16 a month for comprehensive w/o collision and a $250 deductible. Not bad if you ask me, but I noticed that it covers glass as well. Is this only the front windshield or the sunroof as well?

When Superstorm Sandy hit years back a branch fell next on my friends car but luckily only left a minor dent on the roof — nothing more. If this landed on say my boyfriends sunroof and shattered it — would this be covered? Also would water damage from the storm breaking the sunroof be considered glass or would that be considered comprehensive at that point?

I think deer protection and windshield protection is worth it alone, but I'm curious if that is covered as well.

Long story short: is the sunroof covered with glass coverage, and would it cover water damage if it broke during a rainstorm?

Next steps in car insurance claim

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 08:49 AM PDT

    Hi all,

My car was hit really bad by a drunk driver Monday night. It was parked near my apartment on the street. Insurance company has been notified and the process is still ongoing.

I believe my car is a total loss and the adjuster verified that it's totalled. I didn't have gap insurance so I'm pretty sure I will still owe the lender some money. I still need to send in the police report but it's not ready yet. I'm located in California.

What can I do in the meantime? Should I start looking for a new car or should I wait until I get the whole insurance thing settled? I have been renting a car in the meantime.

    Any advice helps. Thanks!

What are the cons to having a blood work health easement done?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 11:34 AM PDT

Title Edit: *Assessment not easement lol

My wife switched jobs, therefore, we have new medical insurance. We are scheduled to have a blood test/urinalysis done for a voluntary health assessment. If we do it, they give us a $500 check. What's their angle? They're not giving us the $500 to be nice. Can it result in them changing the premium based of results? For instance, I'm a smoker (I know, I know). Will they raise the rates? I'm always leary about giving out my DNA to an insurance company. Maybe a little Orwellian, but if insurance companies aren't using our DNA against yet, I'm sure they will in the future. So I guess my question is: how do they benefit from giving us $500 for a blood sample and should we consider skipping it?

Inland Empire Health Plan, Medi-cal. Weird question that people in the office didn't know

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 06:29 AM PDT

So I work as a substitute teacher. I have summers off. Us subs don't get paid much money.

Does Medi-cal go by monthly income OR yearly income?

Some months I'm over the monthly limit, but because I have summers off, I'm still under the yearly limit.

If I go over a month or 2, does that boot me off of IEHP Medi-cal?

    Thanks

Question about group extended health benefits

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 09:19 AM PDT

I'm part of a large institution in Canada that has negotiated group extended health benefits for employees. Unfortunately, the services covered by the plan do not cover the services I'm looking for. My question is: is it possible/common in the industry to arrange something like a variance on a case-by-case basis in order to apply funds toward a non-covered service? Any information would be greatly appreciated!
