Does Starbucks seem like a good long term investment?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 09:45 AM PDT

I've been learning the stock market and how to predict. For every trade I have checked the news for possible products or events that could increase the share price (eg new iPhone release was a sure thing).
But I've been looking at the Starbucks balance sheets. The earnings and net worth of the company seems to massively increase every year . They always have new limited products. And share price has always increased every year.
Could this be a good investment?

How do you feel about UHAL?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 08:04 AM PDT

The business model is as solid as ever. People need to move regardless of situation. Getting promotion, move to bigger house. Getting fired, move to a smaller house. It seems to be a constant need for moving trucks. The self storage business is booming in the US at the moment and U-Haul has invested tens of millions into hundreds of new storage facilities. These facilities have low overhead once built and provide a steady income stream. Only problem is as far as stock goes it hasn't done much. Peaked in 2015 and had steady fluctuations ever since while the rest of the market was in a bull state. Am I missing something?

Beginning to invest for a student

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 02:08 PM PDT

I am a 21 year old finance student, looking to invest in stocks. I have 2 years of college left and €7000 in savings. I'd be willing to put €1000 aside for now in stocks. I'm just wondering what people would recommend I do? Should I invest in an index fund such as the S & P 500, or should I invest by buying single stocks and bonds?

Beginning investing due to will money

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 07:12 AM PDT

Unfortunately my nan has passed away recently and I've been given a bit of money in her will, around £2000. I'm looking to invest it, long term with a portion of my wage going towards it aswell, in a fund that has a good growth potential. I've been looking into some emerging markets like India, mainly the region of asia, especially because of the growing computing industry. I was wondering if anyone had any advice, if I am looking in the wrong area or if my hunch was somewhat pointing in the right area.

    Cheers for any help

    Disney(NYSE:DIS)? Opinions

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 12:04 PM PDT

Hey, I am a senior in college studying finance and supply chain, I've made about 40% a year for the past 2 years on my portfolio including my Roth ira and individual account. I just recently bought 15k worth of Disney because the stock made me a good return in the past and the I did a whole analysis of it before and priced it at 147. I sold off at the 1-year mark to get long term gains and profited a good chunk. Recently when the market brought it Disney to 136 I rebought on a whim, something I usually don't do. I was just wondering if I overlooked any reason that Disney is not a buy right now and what your guys opinion on Disney? Also, I plan on only holding it for 2-3 months this time instead of a year.

    Thoughts on Medmen MMNFF

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 10:58 AM PDT

Near 52 week low. Large presence in the midwest which is the next area to legalize has made some acquisitions. Thoughts?

Help me understand selling puts and call options

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 01:31 PM PDT

So if I buy puts on a stock, do I have to own shares to profit off that? Or can I just sell the option at a later date for a small profit?

American Eagle to report earnings on Wednesday

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 12:19 PM PDT

The company's brands are resonating with customers with the company ranking as the second clothing retailer (behind Nike) in Piper Jaffrays Taking Stock with Teens survey and its Aerie lingerie brand taking a whopping chunk of market share from Victoria's Secret.

That's led to 17 consecutive quarters of comp sales growth culminating with Q1 revenue of $886.3 million, up from $823 million, and beat Wall Street's forecast of $855 million. Same-store sales increased 6%, beating analysts' predictions of 3% growth.

Despite this, the stock is trading on a lowly TTM PE of just 11. That seems cheap and when you look at Guess Inc which jumped 20% to a PE ratio of 18 last week when it reported a sales increase of 6%. It's apparent how a good report on Wednesday could lead to a better valuation multiple and bounce in the stock price.

This is not a recommendation to buy or sell. Stocks are not suitable for everybody. Please do your own research.

What do you guys think of Bank of America for a buy and long term hold?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 10:37 PM PDT

They seem to be expanding and modernizing well. They are adding more employees at all levels and I believe the amount of people banking with them continues to rise. These aren't hard valuation metrics obviously but the current state of things at BOA seems poised for consistent long-term growth at least from the POV of a novice.

Is it a good idea to invest during a recession?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2019 01:03 AM PDT

So I've been seeing news every where about a recession coming in the near future and I was wondering if it is a good strategy to invest during one and in what. Also, I'm 16 and have pretty limited knowledge in investing but I want to start investing towards my future.

    Robo future

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 09:12 PM PDT

I think robot baristas and robot fast food workers are the future of the Coffee/Fast Food business. Despite me being personally against the continuation of fast food dominance, I accept that it is the future. What kind of stocks would be good to get into for robotic workers both AI and raw materials of the actual robots

    Quick Question (VERY general)

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 04:15 PM PDT

What are some online tools you guys use to research a stocks feasibility in your portfolio -or simply for market updates- that you find really helpful? (ex. Morningstar, FT, Simply Wall St etc...)

Just wanted to see what others are using and hopefully broaden my 'horizons' as people tend to say. Thanks!

    Stages of a cycle

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 03:20 PM PDT

    Hello guys

I've recently found some interest in investing and trading in stocks. I learned a few basics by watching videos on Youtube and reading some articles. I understand the trend of a stock will always be part of a cycle. Which itself can be divided into 4 stages.

My question is how does one predict when one stage ends and the next begins. Are there any tells or signs that this will happen? I've learned about the candles and that reversal candles usually announce a change of trend. Although this is mostly false as I look back in trends and see these candles without any changes in trends.

Secondly, sometimes stages are very short compared to other stages, for example a stage 2 might go downwards into a stage 4 immediately, seemingly skipping stage 3 where the trend is supposed to go horizontal. Are there indicators to why this might happen?

    I'd appreciate you guys' responses

Gonna be throwing some play money into WPG!

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 02:02 PM PDT

About $2000. How crazy am I? Is it possible the retail sector has bottomed out? Will I lose this money faster than at the casino? Is this 30% yield in any way, shape or form sustainable? Guess we'll find out - $3 is too low to pass up!
