Amazon wants the Go technology to go into other companies' stores in the first quarter.

Amazon is in talks to bring Go to OTG's CIBO Express stores at airports and Cineworld's Regal theaters.

The move would help Amazon diversify beyond online retail without relying only on building its own stores.

    Puts and how they work?

    Posted: 30 Sep 2019 05:39 PM PDT

Im new to puts but have a fair bit of experience with calls and investing in general. So if someone could clear some things up for me I'd appreciate it.

As an example, If I have 100 contracts and the strike price is 1.50 and they expire 10/18... if the price is sub $1.50 I can sell all those contracts (which hold 100 shares each i believe, so 10,000 shares total) at $1.50 per share? Is this correct ?

Edit: Sub $1.50 the day the puts expire is what I'm asking.

    Edit: Share count

What are some of the advised strategies for short term and long term investing with low capital?

    Posted: 30 Sep 2019 01:39 PM PDT

I'm a student with ~5k in the stock market. Sometimes, I act impulsively and think only about short term profits---as with any random processes, I sometimes win and sometimes lose, netting nothing if not loss. This can get ugly too when the market doesn't go my way, as I tend to the grasshopp, which I know is the worst thing you can do.

Other times, I act more wisely, and buy some decent stocks like AMD and sell covered calls and pocket premiums over long terms. Sometimes when in the money, I swap my options if I desire to keep my stock.

In any case, I wanted to learn about some of the advised strategies for short term and long term investing. In particular, I'm interested in the short term strategies, because as I said, I tend to act widely and grasshopp. So if I know of a few good strategies, maybe I can stick to them.

Does this count as insider trading?

    Posted: 30 Sep 2019 01:43 PM PDT

So a while ago someone commented on this sub that GERN was doing something big with cancer research and I bought at 1.89 (only like 30 shares) and it dropped a lot after that but is up 15% after hours now because their treatment was FDA approved.

Fmr. Chief Economist of the Bank for International Settlements and Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada on Central Banks’ ‘Path To Inflation’

    Posted: 30 Sep 2019 07:46 AM PDT

    Listen to the full episode

Demetri Kofinas speaks with economist and former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada, William White, about the state of our market economy and the prospects for an 'international reset' of the global financial system.

In their conversation, Demetri and Dr. White discuss a wide range of topics focused primarily on the global financial system. Their conversation begins with a focus on the state of the current system, including a discussion about the consequences of regulatory reform (both intended and unintended), as well as endogenous transformation to the system brought about by independent changes in the behavior of banks and other financial participants. Most of the conversation dealing with possible changes to the International Monetary and Financial System happen during the Episode Overtime, including a discussion about central bank-issued cryptocurrencies, private sector digital money like Libra, and Bitcoin. The overtime also includes a lengthy discussion about government policy in the face of climate change, and how this relates to the politics of monetary policy.

    Find Your Edge

In my previous post, I wrote that to achieve outperformance or above-average returns, your investment process has to be 'unconventional' compared to the majority. And that can only be achieved through originality, independent or contrarian thinking, and making connections from disparate information.

Bill Miller, the former Legg Mason portfolio manager, emphasizes the importance of making connections, "Everyone tends to see the same things, read the same newspapers and get the same data feed. The only way to arrive at a different answer from everybody else is to organize the data in different ways, or bring to the analytic process things that are not typically present."
