Would a necromancer need wrongful reanimation coverage?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 11:24 AM PDT

    Hi. Resident insurance nerd here.

I was inspired by a post on r/gaming , "Necromancers - Just healers, but with bad timing."

But what type of insurance would certain classes need? (Not sure if it counts as just D&D) Like, what type of E&O would a healer need? How does a giant's health insurance work? Where does a rogue even fall?

Idk. Maybe I'm the only one that thinks about these things?

Force Placed Homeowners Insurance Policy Question

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 09:45 PM PDT

So a few years ago we failed an insurance inspection and weren't able to make repairs, and so were put on force placed insurance by our mortgage company. Things went along for a couple years until about a month ago we got a notice that the policy would end effective sometime this month. Since insurance is a requirement of the mortgage I assumed that if it ended we'd be in danger of foreclosure so I applied for insurance again... but they'll likely inspect soon and it's unlikely we'll be able to meet the requirements in time to avoid another cancellation.

I've searched around and I can't find anything about force-placed insurance just ending like this. Can that happen or did I just misunderstand a situation where the term of a given policy would end and another would begin? If we can't find and keep private insurance, are we boned? We live in MD in case that's important to know for this. Any help would be much appreciated.

Wife owns car that was uninsured at time of at-fault accident being driven by her sister - PA

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 08:12 PM PDT

This is Pennsylvania - cross-posted in r/legaladvice as unsure where best to ask.

So my wife has a vehicle that's in her name, however for the past few years her family was insuring the vehicle with her mom, dad, and sister of 17 listed as drivers. Apparently the insurance on the car cancelled back in June and my wife's 17 year old sister was involved in an accident which appears to be at-fault (minor damage of at most 3K and no apparent injuries thankfully).

We're not necessarily worried about her vehicle itself. Our concern is the other vehicle as well as if this would affect my wife for the car unknowingly not having insurance on it. Would my wife be subject to a fine or legal ramifications, and would she be responsible for the damages to the other vehicle? I know in the state of PA insurance follows the vehicle, however since there was no apparent insurance coverage on it, would liability then default to her sister and parents?

Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Can anyone help me understand my complicated situation I am a legal Tennessee driver who was pulled over at the Kentucky line by Kentucky state police. 74 in a 45. The catch is I was in someone else car. So what happens with insurance in this situation does my insurance get notified? Does Tennessee put points on my license even though the ticket was in a different state?

Allstate claims glass not covered under full coverage and full comp

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 11:21 AM PDT

I have had full coverage on my truck and motorcycle for the past 4 years with Allstate. Never had an incident or had to file a claim. Also had renters insurance through them for same amount of time. I recently purchased a small toy hauler and moved to California. This toy hauler had the same coverage as my truck, except with a $500 deductible instead of $1000 deductible.

A window on the trailer suddenly shatter when going down the interstate at 70mph. The windows are dual pane and I noticed pieces flying off in my mirror before being able to pull over and knock the rest of the glass off before taping it up. My immediate thought was manufacturer flaw. Long story short, the company denied to replace it because I was towing it at the time it broke. Fair enough, insurance will cover it I thought.

I thought wrong. Apparently my full coverage and full comprehensive coverage on both truck and trailer didn't have a glass covered option. The following is a direct quote from my insurance agent, "I'm sorry, at the time of the incident there was no coverage for glass on your vehicle or trailer, comprehensive alone does not cover glass, it would of needed to be "Comp. w/glass". There is "full coverage without glass coverage" & "full coverage with glass coverage". You had the 1st one. "

I also received this response from him after why it wasn't covered, "No apology needed, to bad the online or overnight customer service person (that helped you set this up originally) didn't explain it or give you options.

You can call any glass company I believe for the trailer & they should be able to help you. There would be no reimbursement on the window this time as there was no coverage at the time of the incident."

Am I insane for thinking that glass wound NOT be covered under full coverage and comprehensive? Nowhere on my policy documents does it have an option or statement about full glass or no glass. I've called other insurance companies and they claim their full coverages cover windows and glass, it's not something that needs to be additionally added.

Claim was supposed to be payable at 80% but got only paid 40%

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 07:18 PM PDT

I submitted a claim about the treatment which was supposed to be covered at 80%, but in the end 50% of were listed as deductible and I only got paid 40%, and my insurance said, "The benefit has been limited to customary charges." However, I have no idea what does it mean and I can't find any specifics. I just would like to know how is this calculated to know the real estimate in the future.

Edit: forgot to mention that it's in Canada

Health Insurance Coverage for Emergency Room Visit

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 06:56 PM PDT

Hi: I went to urgent care with difficulty breathing and major chest pains. Urgent care checked me out and sent me to the ER suspecting a pulmonary embolism (PE). I was admitted to ER and, yep, bi-lateral PE and a DVT in my left leg. My hospital stay ended up being three days total.

The hospital treated me well, and I felt they were very responsive and on top of my treatment. I have been receiving bills for my portion of the treatment and have been paying them promptly.

Nearly 50 grand later, the hospital where I was treated has told me (via mail) that my insurance is disputing coverage and would like me to authorize sharing my medical information with my provider and to also provide the hospital with all insurance EOBs and any correspondence I've had with my insurance provider. Specifically, I was treated at the hospital as an "intermediate level of care" for two of the three days, and the insurance is saying that it was not medically necessary, I should have been treated at a "medical level of care." I have no idea the differences in classification between the two. The hospital wants to engage in an "Application for Independent Review," and I need to provide an "Authorization for Release of Medical Records" to help them appeal the decision.

I'm not sure I want any of my medical information (X-rays, bloodwork, clinical notes, etc) shared with my insurance provider. At the same time, the hospital treated me well, and I don't want them to get screwed over nor do I want to be left holding the bag on the difference in cost. I've never been in this situation and am hoping someone(s) here have and can provide some context and thoughts on complying versus not. I've started looking into all my EOBs and there are so many (3rd party, labs, Xrays) with so many codes with obscure descriptions. It it time consuming to say the least.

If this isn't the right forum, please let me know.

Insurance on a 2013 Ford Taurus SHO

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 06:48 PM PDT

Does anyone here know how much the difference in insurance rates between a Ford Taurus Limited and a Taurus SHO would be? Not asking for specific numbers but would the fact that the SHO is somewhat of a performance vehicle make a huge difference? I'm looking into getting one late next year, I'll be 20 years old, no accidents or tickets on my record.

Tifu by leaving keys in my girlfriends car.

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 05:36 PM PDT

So last night I dropped my girlfriend at the airport came home jumped out of the car. I'd never driven a car with push button start so seeing as there was no keys in the ignition I ( yes very stupidly) neglected to realise the keys were still in it. Fast forward to 2:30 am and I hear movement out side and hear her car start. I run outside to see her brand new truck drive off into the distance. The car has top of the line comprehensive insurance. So my question is will it still be covered for theft even though I left the keys in it? Or do I now owe my girlfriend 50thousand dollars? Any advice would be appreciated as I'm super stressed

    Jewelry insurance policy

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 05:39 AM PDT

Which insurers provide cash out policies versus replacement policies?

I have a very custom ring from my own independent jeweler and would prefer the cash out policy.

Anyone with experience filing such a claim and getting a cash out policy?

EDIT: I'm asking what the process is to replace- will I get cash or will the insurer pay the jeweler directly for a replacement? I know it depends on the insurer but I am interested in which insurers do which

Car Insurance Adjusters: Totaled Car but Unsure of Exact Odometer Mileage

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 01:04 PM PDT

My car was totaled last week and the police are still investigating so it is an open case. The car is currently sitting in the police impound lot. My insurance damage adjuster looked at it but couldn't turn over the key because the officer would not allow it due to the open investigation. He instead used the last recorded mileage from the internal computer which came in a lot lower than the actual mileage. I know I have to sign an odometer mileage statement, but I don't remember the exact number. How should I go about this? How will this affect my settlement and whatnot? He said no one would look at the vehicle again, not sure if that is true.

    Should I be worried?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 04:41 PM PDT

    Hi,

Trying not to freak out, so I will try to explain my situation as calmly as possible. I had a small surgery last month (took 30 minutes, went home the same day) and I have insurance (city employee). I spoke with my doctor and their medical biller and was told I was fully covered.

The surgery happened at a different location since the office was not equipped for surgery. I received an EOB today with a check for 2000 dollars. The next page says the location where I got the surgery was out of network (???). My insurance only paid the 2000 (hence the check) and I am responsible for the remainder $58000.

Please advise, I cannot call my insurance because it is late in the day. Thank you.

Son involved in an accident with uninsured driver

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 12:32 PM PDT

Hello, I am not sure if this belongs here but hoping someone in this community is able to help.

Earlier today, my son was involved in a car crash and the driver of that car did not have a valid insurance. My son, who lives with me, is at fault and he is not included in our insurance plan. My plan is basic liability and would not cover any of my costs. Police was present at the scene and report was filed. The officer took down my son's information with along with my insurance.

So the question is, Should I file a claim with my insurance? Or should I just forget about it and get my car fixed? What would happen to the other person on both of the scenario. I would prefer to pay the other driver in cash and would not want this accident to be reported to my insurance agency.

    Located in Texas.

    Prior Salvage Title [MN]

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 10:53 AM PDT

I'm looking at a 2018 truck with 30k miles listed for 14,995, which is a crazy deal. It has a "prior salvage title" and according to the dealer and confirmed by Carfax, there was a side collision and also some damage to the front. The truck was corporately owned and not a private individual. The airbags did not deploy during the collision, and the car has been be repaired and looks good as new from a visual perspective.

This truck is going to be used as a work truck, and I know it can be very difficult to insure salvaged titles. I only ask because the milage is so low which is rare for a truck. Is it worth it to even explore insurance options for a vehicle like this?

    Nevada car insurance texas registration.

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 02:25 PM PDT

Sorry if this is unorganized as I'm in mobile but here's a little bit of backstory. I'm in the military currently stationed in nevada. I just registered my car in Texas last year so that I could get a Texas drivers license as mine was a few years expired ( it was expired but as I'm military texas has a auto extend policy but I was having trouble renting cars ,flying, buying alcohol, cant drive for uber etc). In Texas to get a driver license you have to register your car there as well or sign paper work saying you dont own one. It just seemed easier to register it there since that's my home of record. Long story short I paid around 400 for inspections registration plates and license.

Now that I'm in Nevada and stationed here for a the next few years I'm wanting to switch my auto policy (USAA) to nevada and my rates went up 60 dollars a month. So i decided to do some shopping around . Gieco is quoting me 87 monthly for more coverage. Unfortunately I couldn't complete the quote because they are saying I cant carry insurance in Nevada and have it registered in Texas. Now my current insurance company definitely knows I'm registered in texas and have nevada insurance so it didnt sense that they couldn't insure me . I've never had and issue being registered in another state and insured for another. Anybody have any insight as to what is happening or what I can do? I really dont want to register it in nevada as when I get out in a couple years I'm going back to texas and my license will expire again and I'll have to pay for plates registration and inspection again. Also I called two different coustomer service reps and they both told me I couldn't have Nevada insurance. Thank you !

Filing for depreciated value claim on car, after accident

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 02:16 PM PDT

The last time my car was in an accident (fender bender) where my fault % was 0; the other parties insurance paid for all the repairs (front bumper replacement). However when I filed for a depreciated value claim (my new car was barely 1 year old) my claim was denied stating "fender bender is not reason enough to get a depreciated value back".
I did argue but eventually gave up and never received any compensation.

Last month I got into another fender bender where some drunk guy rammed into my car's rear.
This time it was a police case because after hitting me the guy tried to run away (eventually got caught and confessed). His insurance company paid for the repairs and I had to get my rear bumper and sensors replaced this time.

I am planning to file for a depreciated value claim again and I have a feeling that they are going to refuse again.
However this time I was planning to get my car appraised from a shop, compare that with Kelly Blue Book prices and claim the delta.

Is that the right approach or can I do anything more to improve my chances of getting the diminished value claim processed?

Provider fully covered by my insurance, practice is only partially covered by insurance

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 01:54 PM PDT

I moved and found a new doctor using my insurance's website, and made sure they were fully covered by insurance. Went to my appointment today and the receptionist tried billing me a co-pay, which I was not expecting. I tried explaining that my insurance would cover everything. They shrugged and said they would bill my insurance directly for the copay and see what happens.

I called my insurance and they confirmed the doctor is fully covered in my network, but the practice only has partial/standard coverage. I feel like billing is trying to take advantage of me by billing under the practice and not the doctor.

Not sure what to do, as the services are said and done. The receptionists said they'd contact their third party billing company and see what they say about the situation.

Any advice is appreciated, thank you! In Texas, USA.

    Saving on car insurance?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 01:27 PM PDT

So I'm 22 I've had a new car under my name for a bit now, just been reimbursing my parents since I was 17. I had 2 speeding tickets that have been removed from my record. Took drivers saftey classes and finished supervision on both. Its been over a year ago on the most recent. Otherwise clean record no accidents and I've only made 1 claim for a cracked windshield.

I still get raped for 242 a month with a clean record which is partly why I'm looking at new insurance. I've gotten 2 quotes from State farm one at just over 200 a month and the other at 400 a month. For some reason the 1 can see my tickets but not the other. Only this one quote from State farm have seen my tickets, including Allstate which I've been with through both and rates never went up.

My question is why can one person see the tickets when no one else has been able to. Also why is there no discount for having a higher class of license? I can drive a truck up to 26,000lbs while most have a license for less than 8000lbs. Totally makes sense that we're equally talented at driving.

Also I love how insurance can say your "high risk" for being young but if they were high risk for being a women or Asian or anything else they'd be but out of business for discrimination.

    Another three car pileup thread

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 09:37 AM PDT

I was the last car in a 3 way car accident. The first car (car A) cut off the middle car (car B), which caused him to rear end her.

Then my car (car C) rear ended car B due to the suddenly stoppage of car B.

I was only given a warning by the trooper but he cited car A.

My car was totaled and there were two young children in my car. They're fine.

If car B's insurance comes after mine, could I theoretically go after car A's insurance for causing the accident?

I sustained an ankle injury and back injuries. Is an injury lawyer the most effective method?

    Thanks for your advice.

Tips/Advice on dealing with a car insurance claim for being rear-ended?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2019 11:24 AM PDT

Hi, all! This is the first time we've had to make an insurance claim of any kind, and we just wanted any general tips or suggestions if we are missing something. We don't want to screw ourselves over by being uninformed.

Last Friday my husband got rear-ended going home. The guy was super nice and took responsibility, exchanged insurance info, etc. On Saturday my husband was in a three way call with both insurance representatives to discuss how to proceed. He was given a claim number for both insurances, but from now on we will be basically talking directly with the other guy's insurance (Allstate I think), since they'll be paying for the repairs. With the Allstate claim number he uploaded pictures of the damage done to our car, and today he received an estimate for all the costs of repairs.

We have no way to tell ourselves if they are trying to cheap out or no, and they do of course mention that prices might change once they actually take the car in for repairs. Any tips here, things we should look out for, or should we just approve it as is?

We are also wondering if the insurance will cover the rental that my husband will need to get while they repair the car?

Anything else we should ask for, or mention?

    Thanks!
