Remember when everyone said the Watch was a flop? That Airpods were too ugly to be a success? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 06:02 AM PST I remember. The entire tech media and Wall Street media all said the Watch was an absolute flop and that Airpods were a rip off and looked stupid. https://www.fastcompany.com/3048375/why-the-apple-watch-is-flopping Fast forward a couple years. Apple's Wearable division grew revenue 33% YoY. Over $7.3 billion in sales last quarter. This year the wearables division will surpass Mac and iPad sales. Yearly revenue will be about $30 billion. Watch? Airpods? Total failure? Right? Shows how stupid the tech media and Wall Street is. And this is only the beginning. Wearables will keep growing each year and will eventually replace the smartphone as most people's primary computing device. And Apple is absolutely dominating the wearables market. This is a transition period from smartphone to wearables. We already see smartphone sales slowing. Next we will see wearables take its place. [link] [comments] |
If you had $100k to long-term into either AMD or NVDA tomorrow, which would you choose? Posted: 30 Jan 2019 08:22 PM PST This is in consideration of AMD's spike yesterday with it's earning report and NVDA has missed expectation. If you have a better suggestion on blue-chip company with higher potential yields, my ears are open. [link] [comments] |
What stocks are you eyeing at the moment? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 02:37 AM PST What are some companies that you feel are undervalued right now that you're keeping an eye on? I'm looking for the Facebooks out there that have had their stock beaten up and have unwarranted low sentiment. [link] [comments] |

Good god.. I think I got a margin call. Please help. (pics) Posted: 30 Jan 2019 10:44 PM PST I think I just got a margin call....Im In big trouble. Help. (Pics)📷 Today i checked my TDAmeritrade account and saw this.. https://gyazo.com/872cf6bf77bd23bb711194ac77d12ef5 Dollars to liquidation: $22.09 Account Status: Closing only. My account doesn't have margin approval or option approval. I have no idea whats going on. Here is the details on my account: https://gyazo.com/40c57e936c571d60e9364b49d7ad0d7f I have been depositing money and then buying the next day. But is this a margin call? Edit: I feel like I'm going to wake up with my entire account wiped out to zero. When I look on the TDA app. It says Option Buying Power: (-$86.97) in RED.... What the F' is going on. I don't even have approval to buy options. FINAL EDIT*** Case Closed. Talked to the Risk department. SPTM is a marginable etf, i dont have margin, TDA takes money out of the Option buying power when I use funds that have not cleared to BUY that marginable etf.(takes 3 business days to clear). Why Apple Has A long Road Ahead To Become A Service Company Posted: 31 Jan 2019 11:30 AM PST Article on why Apple will find more difficult than expected to transition to service based business ! Most of the markets that they currently pay in are smaller than you think. Best option is digital wallets, which is pretty young at this stage. https://kpbco.org/onepir/why-apple-has-a-long-road-ahead-to-become-a-service-company [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jan 2019 02:15 PM PST I'm looking at several online brokers and this forum said a lot of good things about Interactive Brokers. I looked at their application form (for an individual trader) and since I'm in Europe, they require a tonne of details including my employer's name and address. My question is: why do they need this? Are they planning to inform my employer that I have an account? (I think it's none of their business what I do with my money in my own free time) [link] [comments] |
Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) analysis Posted: 31 Jan 2019 08:11 AM PST This is the first analysis I have ever posted online! Have been successfully trading stocks for the past 8 years now and looking to share and consume valuable information here. The first stock I will analyse is Johnson & Johnson - which in my view is a pharmaceutical plus! Apart from medicine this company also produces interesting consumer products focused on health and personal care. A few of their famous brands are: Band-Aid, Compeed, Listerine and Acavue. About 3/4 of their revenue consists of pharmaceutical products and medical aids. It is a bit of a boring company, but it has a great management. Their return on equity has been above 25%(!) for years now. Their balance sheet is strong and they are a true dividend champion. They have had a rising dividend for the past 50 years and it is currently at around 3 dollars a share. On top of that the management has a nose for good acquisitions with which it adds to their already impressive line of products. The last few years they have had a lot less trouble with expiring patents compared to Pfizer, one of their biggest competitors. For the years to come there are no patent expirations for important products. On top of that they have a bunch of interesting medicine in the pipeline, ready to enter the markets. A lot of those have their heritage in biotechnology which makes them a lot harder to counterfeit. A great example of this is the medicine Xarelto, a blood thinner they developed in cooperation with the German company Bayer. The organic growth of the pharmaceutical part of the company is predicted to be around 6-7% in the years to come. In particular Xarelto, Invokana (diabetes medication) and Imbruvica (cancer medicine) are expected to be pulling the cart. The consumer products division might be affected by the strong dollar, but for European investors this should not be a problem. At the current price of $132 a share, Johnson & Johnson is not expensive at a price/earnings ratio of 14.5 for 2019. Tell me what you guys think! [link] [comments] |

How can you calculate the percent interest that a public company pays on its’ debt? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 01:48 PM PST Some companies pay 4%/year on their debt while others might pay 12% per year. Please cite a data source (e.x. Morningstar) as well. [link] [comments] |

Price target for Mirati Therapeutics (MRTX)? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 09:53 AM PST Bought MRTX at 45.00 on Jan. 7, sold today at 67.00 - I don't see it breaking the 67.00 resistance, and it has already had a high leap since I bought it. Weak financials and EPS. Volume is decent, but I don't see it growing unless some breaking news comes soon, which I do not see happening either. Thoughts or target prices by the end of Q1? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 01:31 PM PST SBUX dropped all it's gains in last minute today. Shit cray. Wonder who bailed. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jan 2019 09:29 AM PST Seems like a good buy to me right now, aiming for a 10-20% return this quarter, they have had a pretty strong upwards trend since mid Dec. and the last couple of weeks have been down, however I see it rebounding again and possibly breaking it's $6.00 resistance. Right now it's trading around 5.30 with a 5.00 support level. Has decent volume, around 750k to 1500k a day. [link] [comments] |

Thoughts on holding both CYH and QHC to hedge by bets? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 11:26 AM PST CYH and QHC are super volatile hospital stocks. I've swung traded both for quite some time. Both have gone down significantly the past year but are prone to breaking out. That said, I've taken an equal position in both, I feel either can jump to $6+ and once that happens the other could go bankrupt for all I care and I still win. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jan 2019 05:10 AM PST For a bond etf say for example the vanguard one. Is it like a real bond or is the money liquid? Can I put a bunch of money in instead of in the bank and just collect a 4% dividend yield? I noticed the bond etf goes up very little over time. What is the cause it's movement? Thank you. Orcas death affect on SeaWorld stock Posted: 31 Jan 2019 10:21 AM PST It's been dropping all day. I'm trying to decide if I should get out now. How do you think this will affect the stock price short/long term? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jan 2019 10:08 AM PST I'm looking into investing long-term in a water utility company as water is starting to, if not already, becoming a more and more important commodity. I've looked into WTR and AWK, but was curious on your opinion in an up-and-comer, or just go with market leader? [link] [comments] |
Do we expect very expensive stocks to have the same growth potential as cheaper stocks? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 02:22 AM PST Now I am aware that in general the total price of a certain stock has little to no meaning, until you use it to look at fundamentals of a share. But in my mind I just had this thoughtscenario where I couldnt quite picture that a company of lets say - the size of Amazon (1600 USD) - still has the same growth potential as a much cheaper stock. Now I am quite aware that my thoughtprocess must be fundamentally flawed somewhere, but im sure you guys can help me out! Thanks already in advance! [link] [comments] |
