Have you ever just been typing so your boss things you are working on something important? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 08:09 AM PDT it is kind of what I am doing right now. I mean tbh, there is not much going on today. I am in my masters program so I did some homework for that so I do not have to do it when I get home, but it still only 10:44am so there is a good amount of day left for me to bullshit around or find something to do. I'm just sitting in my office looking at reddit and making my keyboard making noises because I want to seem like I am typing a bunch of shit. The best part is that I type something like 70+WPM so it just sounds like a shit show of hard work. Really its all just reddit haha. Luckily, no one at my work knows what reddit is. They just figured out Facebook. Its not their fault though, they are all pretty old. I am the youngest person in my entire company and I am 25. Its not really relevant. Again, none of this is. I am literally just typing whatever my lil fingers wanna type so I found like im writing memos or some shit. I filed all my returns early that were due on the 15th and its too early to start on the Nov 15th short years because we are still waiting on a few checks or bills or some stupid shit. Idk its not like it matters. I think it is kind of crazy the number of stamps that are on my desk. Not like post office stamps, which I have 67 of, but like those stupid fucking stamps that are like PAID, EMAILED, SCANNED, DICK SUCKED, etc. Its like why the fuck do I need so many. I literally have 3 that say paid. They all fucking work. I mean I can triple pay some shit but I don't need a stamp. get the fuck out of here with that shit. My stapler is kind cool though. I have one of those ones that have almost no resistance and makes a POW when you do it. Makes me feel cool af. Im like ohhhhh listen to me staple these pieces of paper im so fucking cool. I also have one of those old school adding machines but really I do not ever use it. Sometimes I want to feel more accountanty I will. It just seems kinda fucking pointless with computers. The other accountants use it. They also ask me how to finish work so quickly and I am like oh because I use a fucking computer and not an adding machine idk??? The best is the one guy who writes memos to the IRS on a typewriter. Personally, I think the typewriter thing is kinda badass because hes like fuck it no mistakes, but at the same times its like oh maybe you should save that on the server drive and then you end up just scanning a bunch of typewriter shit that you can never edit because its a PDF. OH BUT WAIT!!! I had to get the adobe PDF to word converter so now they think you can just always do that but half the time it comes out looking like the Microsoft word equivalent of an inbred child. Crazy ass fonts and spacing its just looks like a pile of shit. Sometimes it works though and that's cool. Here is an important question. Why the fuck do vendors and stuff send so many promotional calender's? I swear to fucking god I have like 9 calendars in my office. I only use one. Its like all these people are like "oh that company uses our services, lets help them figure out what fucking day it." Without them I guess I would be like holy shit when it is? If I was a company and I was going to send some calendars, I would call ahead and be like "hey whats the fucking date?" If they got it right I would not send them. And wtf is with some of these calendars that have inspirational quotes on them? I don't need to be inspired by a calendar. It literally a rectangle with dates. Give me something useful that I like and might actually use like a pen, cups, a shirt, a hat, a blowjob, maybe even a pair of socks. I also like mouse pads and stickers. Well I guess its cool now that I am not doing anything because my boss is talking about political stuff, which means he is on Facebook. So I'm gonna post this. I love you. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Oct 2018 10:11 AM PDT Than noticing a genuine error in a workpaper you created, but the reviewer didn't notice because he was too busy telling you to bold the font in certain cells. [link] [comments]

B4 taking interview group to lunch what do I order Posted: 03 Oct 2018 09:06 AM PDT Do I go all out and get a 2 lb tomahawk steak to assert dominance?
But seriously?
Edit: One kid said the B4 we are interviewing with may be commiting fraud because they use funds on happy hours. [link] [comments]

"No longer under consideration" - right after submitting application Posted: 03 Oct 2018 04:05 PM PDT So, I submitted an application for an experienced audit hire yesterday and soon after, the status of my application was changed to "no longer under consideration"? How could that be? Did a human even look at my application? I had tailored my resume and the ATS would/should have picked up on that. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I reach out to a recruiter at the firm to perhaps determine what happened? P.S. I do believe that I (should) comfortably meet the requirements of the job posting. [link] [comments]
Salary Expectations for Mid-Size and Small CPA Firms? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 09:22 PM PDT Hey everyone! I am currently working FT at <100 people tech firm as a junior accountant.I do mainly all AP/AR and a bit of compiling for financial reporting for the parent company. However, I have come to realize that recruiting happens within the last year of your graduation. I want to work in some sort of corporate finance or CFO at a start-up so I figured public accounting would be the way to go. I am currently paid $40k/year in Vancouver with about 4 weeks vacation working 40 hours a week. Honestly I could be done all my work for the month in < 20 hours a month but they need someone to answer accounting related calls. I've heard that staff accountants that are recently hired make < $42k a year in salary and are not paid OT. Even worse some firms only offer $1 - 2,000 a year for educational credits. I've heard a full-ride for CPA is about a $15k package. In which I plan to complete in < 1 year. Hopefully it's easier than the CFA level II exam. So what is a realistic range to provide during interviews for mid-size and smaller firms? [link] [comments]
How the hell do you work in an open office? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 09:13 AM PDT So I'm in between perm jobs working a contract gig doing ASC 606 work and upgrading the company's financial reporting. The problem is I'm in a room with 100 other people who talk all day and this job in no way requires collaboration. This is my 3rd week and it sucks just as bad as week 1, tried noise cancelling headphones but even those aren't perfect and it doesn't fix the constant people walking by distractions and the group who thinks we all like the smell of Indian food. Anyone have more tips or should I just quit? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Oct 2018 07:41 PM PDT So I'm currently a Sophomore and I had applied to some internship's because why not and I wound up getting an interview with a Big 4 firm which is cool. I know internships are usually for Juniors going into Senior so I was wondering if I can realistically expect anything to come from this or just use it more as a learning experience for next year [link] [comments]

3 possible job choices in accounting? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 07:32 PM PDT Hello, I just graduated with a BBA in accounting I am currently applying for jobs and so far I have interviews with: a small family owned cpa firm, and Revenew International (a company that helps companies recover owed monies and finds ways for them to be more cost efficient). The job at the cpa firm would just be an accountant position, and the job at Revenew International would be an audit planner. I don't know the pay of the cpa firm position but it's in San Antonio and I would rather live there than the audit planner job which is in houston. The audit planner has a base salary of 45 - 50k with annual income up to 75k due to bonuses. Also healthcare is 100% paid for with no copays. Only thing is the interview kept making a point that it's a fast paced job where I'd have to think on my feet. Not intimidating at first but she kept saying that which now makes me intimidated. Which one would you go with? P.S. there's also the potential of getting a job as a Cashier Specialist which pays around 32k starting off but that's plan c. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 07:16 PM PDT Hi all, I am currently a second year associate in big 4 tax. I am starting to get bored with the type of work I continue to do. I want to learn more about tax structuring domestically and overseas in tax havens. I believe this would be called tax consulting rather than just doing tax returns. Does anyone in the big 4 have experience in this type of work and can tell me what the group is called? Thank you [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 06:45 PM PDT I am currently a sophomore in college and just got admitted to the MIS (Management Information system) program. At my university there is a program to get my undergrad in MIS and then MAcc in 5 years. I haven't been able to get much feedback on this combination and was wondering if this would be a wise choice or if I should change directions. Any help would be appreciated! [link] [comments]
