1 month in, sitting at my desk burnt out.. Posted: 04 Oct 2018 06:26 AM PDT Hey guys, I'm a month into my first sales position and I'm seriously questioning everything. I'm supposed to make 100 dials a day selling digital marketing services. I love marketing which is why I took this job, but in struggling to power through at the moment. I spend 2-3 hours a day outside of the 9-5 reading and studying sales stuff but I feel like I'm not improving. Now im struggling to even pick up the phone. Any advice? [link] [comments] |
Do I have to genuinely like people to be successful in a B2B sales job? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 12:21 AM PDT Or can I keep faking it and pushing forward until I'm more of a people person... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Oct 2018 09:42 AM PDT Have been lurking here a couple days now and was hoping to get some insight. I am 24, graduated university '16, and worked in finance for under a year before moving to my current B2B sales role selling marketing software to SMBs for 1.5 years. I am currently a BDM. I also recently got my real estate license and am working with a large brokerage part time as a side hustle. I am starting to look at my 2019 exit opportunities and want to transition to either cyber security sales or SaaS, specifically fintech. I am currently in CT and love my area so am not really looking to move. I understand this limits my company choices considering what I am looking for. Prior to starting at a new job and after leaving my current one, I do want to join the National Guard to serve and initial training is about ~4 months. My questions are:

Your opinion about working at Intelex Technologies Posted: 04 Oct 2018 08:58 AM PDT So I'm a recent grad making a move out to Denver and am interested in software sales because they're lucrative and a lot of these companies have different departments I would like to work in. I've read a lot of reviews on Glassdoor about Intelex and like any other company on their they are either flooded with the typical, "it's great, no complaints!" or an entire paragraph about how horrible the place is. There really isn't an in between that gives actual feedback about the company. So I was hoping you redditors would have some insight on this place and could tell me a little bit about what this place is like in the sales department. I know this is a tough market and as a single person I'm not worried about having to work hard. I'm more interested in their training program, compensation and if the place is a waste of time to work at or not. [link] [comments] |
Are Copier Salespeople treated as poorly as Car Salespeople? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 11:05 AM PDT I've been in auto sales for about 3 years now with pretty good success. I have started to apply for other sales roles and received an offer at a local reputable copier sales position. I am extremely hesitant even though every other aspect of the job fits what I'm looking for, because I believe I will be treated as bad if not worse by clients than I already am. I do not want to be treated like shit for my entire working career. I'm just curious how bad it is as a copier sales rep? [link] [comments] |

Just got new job as VP of sales Posted: 04 Oct 2018 08:59 AM PDT Hello all, So ive been doing sales/marketing in the solar industry for about 3 years, along with experience in sales in other industries for 8 plus years. Well i went for an interview with a new company and it went so well that the owner(who i had the interview with) put me in charge of all sales/salesforce for the company. The company has 2 other locations, in the midwest, southern cali, and where ill be working(SF bay area). Ive done the sales side of jobs plenty of times, trained people who would later become great at what they do, but have never been in such a high position that holds so much responsibility. Im 28 years old, and think im wise beyond my years, but am feeling a little overwhelmed, but at the same time dont have any self doubt, just not sure where to start. He basically cleaned house and is starting fresh. So i need to put together a sales team, meanwhile going out into the field and puttin in my own work. Can you guys give me suggestions of things i can/should get started on to get the ball rollin and showing initiative? Also, he knows this is my first time in a position like this, i tend to do very well in interviews and i guess over sold myself, but i am SO ready for this challenge/opportunity. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Which sales job would you take? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 08:50 AM PDT The Question: Does anyone have experience starting out in sales at a unicorn or later stage startup w/ a target IPO date--what was it like? Disclaimer: No prior SaaS experience but 2+ years experience selling advertising and digital marketing at the Mid-Market level as an AE (Fortune 500) I have a 3 job offers from seed startups where a majority of the funding has been secured through a seed accelerator e.g. 500Startups or YCombinator and 2 offers from companies that have a $1B+ valuation aka Unicorns.
Without giving too much away here are a few industries from the companies above: Cybersecurity, Conferencing/Communications, eCommerce Marketing, IT Project Management, and Drone Software [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Oct 2018 11:40 AM PDT I am graduating a year early from Purdue University with a major is Selling and Sales Management, a minor in Management, and a Certificate in Entrepreneurship. I am currently working as the Campus Manager for a SaaS company on campus so I feel I have some decent work experience. Because I am studying Sales, I am a little confused as to if I should look for jobs starting out in SDR/BDR or straight into AE. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Do I have to pay on a monthly basis for job benefits if I work a commission-based sales job? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 07:54 AM PDT What if I don't make money that month? Does that mean I still have to pay the premium for whatever benefit (e.g. vision, dental...)? [link] [comments] |
I need help finding commission-based salespeople for a high-ticket information product. Posted: 04 Oct 2018 11:33 AM PDT Hello! What's the best way to find someone to pay commission on my high-ticket ($100-249) education/information product? I have decent (volume 20-30/month) organic sales with zero paid advertising and am looking for an experienced person to sell this with their own budget for commission. I've thought about clickbank, etc, but I don't have time or interest to climb that learning curve -- i'd rather work on the products. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
How to hire someone to do sales? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 05:08 AM PDT Please accept my apologies in advance for the newbie question. I only recently discovered that I could hire someone to do sales (!), after being a business owner for a few years. I previously was only aware of people doing marketing, and in my mind that was people designing logos, coming up with tv advertisements, planning fancy parties. Anyway. Following my astounding discovery which opened a whole new world of possibilities, I'm ready to explore hiring someone to "do sales" for me, I'm just not sure what that means at all. To be very specific, I sell baby hampers as part of my business. What I want to achieve is getting companies to order these baby hampers from me when an employee gets pregnant or gives birth. This would be part of their employee benefits budget presumably. Is this what a salesperson would do?? What would the title of someone doing this job be? And what would they be in charge of? How does the pay structure usually go? (I know that everything probably is a "it depends", but would you please let me know in general what is the norm?) Would appreciate any help demystifying the whole sales thing for me. 🙏🏻 [link] [comments] |
How the f*ck do I get back into sales? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 08:08 AM PDT I worked in B2C sales for almost 2 years. At the time when I left I was fed up with it all, more because the company was horrendous. I then moved into a different field for 2 years. Now I want to get back into sales, more so B2B sales. My CV is tailored to sales, highlighting all my achievements as a sales person. I get the odd interview, but never goes further than that. I get told that I'm very likable in the process, that I done nothing wrong however that doesn't get me a job. How do I go from getting an interview to getting the job. Is there anything I can do to help transition from B2C to B2B? [link] [comments] |
What sales method(s) do you use? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 07:33 AM PDT I've seen various people say they try to be pushy, others say they use the Sandler's method, others say they wing it. I'd like to know what methods people like to use and maybe what industry and how successful you are with it for context? [link] [comments] |
Retail sales, how do you ready yourself between customers? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 12:28 AM PDT I work at a global telecom company based in the U.S (some would call us the evil empire). Some customers come in to complain about their bill and angry about rate increases. How do you mentality transition between not knowing if the next customer will be a sale or (at times) confrontation? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Oct 2018 06:04 AM PDT Hi I have been approached by Qualtrics for an AE role and I have been doing a bit of research on LinkedIn etc looking at people who have left the role e.g. past company = Qualtrics title = Account Executive. I'm surprised at the number of people who have left roles after less than 1.5 and 2 years. Can anyone offer some more insight on this as to why AE turnover is high? [link] [comments] |
Best Sales Books For Telemarketers ? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 12:18 AM PDT What books are the best of the best for a telemarketer? I'm especially interested in audible choices, as I have some new credits. I just finished "To Sell Is Human" by Daniel Pink, and I loved it. I'm curious about Jordan Belfort's book "Way Of The Wolf" since he was a phone guy. Also interested in SPIN Selling. Any suggestions appreciated. What are your favorite books about selling, especially selling over the phone? I do BTC phone sales and am new to the phones game. Warm leads and mostly outbound calls with some inbounds ahead, as I ramp up. My second week on the job, closed my first sale last week. Want to keep closing and close, close, close. Lots of objections and people hanging up on me as soon as they find out I'm a salesman, and lots of telling me they aren't interested, especially, "I need to think about it. I'll get back to you"..."I don't need it!" and the good old, "I want it but I can't afford it right now". Need some ammo and I love to read. Especially well narrated audible books. Suggestions? Thoughts? Help! ;-) Thanks, all. Great subreddit! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 08:21 PM PDT What are you guys/gals getting your clients/referral sources for X-mas this year? I was going to order custom engraved cutting boards from Etsy for like $40 each, with shipping it will be about $50 each. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Oct 2018 01:32 PM PDT How can I make the transition from Automotive sales to Software sales? What are some things you guys would recommend? I have a degree in Economics/Finance. I've been doing car sales for about 6 months now. I just can't see myself doing car sales for the long run. [link] [comments] |
I am looking to get into SaaS Sales! Posted: 03 Oct 2018 10:17 PM PDT I have been in the auto sales industry for a few years now as well as doing door to door for a pdr shop before hand. I am interested in getting into SaaS sales as I am very money motivated and while the auto industry is a good career, it hasn't been providing the level of income I am searching for. In the car business I've had to build rapport over the phone, through emails, and in person because if I didn't close them on myself then they would(most of the time) get the same vehicle/price at the dealership across town. I had to be able to guide customers into a vehicle they were not interested in but still left feeling like they had "won" the battle, market myself, and build my own customer database (aka build your own brand/business as we would say). As part of my daily tasks, I regularly do about 75 phone calls to fresh/dead prospects (or previously sold customers to earn their repeat business) as well as about 80 emails every day to get potential customers in the door. Now, being that I am 21 I am teachable(not stuck in my ways so to speak) and eager to learn more so I can grow as a successful businessman. Any advice on where I can get my start to get into this booming industry? What companies do you recommend I look into, I live in Denver. Thank you all for your help and advice, I am looking forward to your answers! [link] [comments] |
What happens when an entire sales team falls short of their goals? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 01:06 PM PDT I'm in health insurance sales, and our success depends largely on trend rates/increases; so if United Health Care gives a 13% average increase to all of their employer groups, we are much more likely to get RFPs from employers looking for other options. If they trend well, we don't. We are all already falling way short of our sales targets. If 3000 is each salesperson's goal, we will be lucky to hit 1000. The problem is our leadership, despite understanding the entire situation and competitive landscape, continues to put pressure and blame on the sales team. I think they think we are slacking off because they have asked us to start logging the time we spend talking to clients. Anyway, I'm worried they are going to take drastic action as the CEO/CFO have started asking questions as to why our RFP pipeline is so light. Anyone been in this situation? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Oct 2018 10:16 PM PDT I am looking for some opinions on my situation. I have worked for my company in a sales position for over 10 years. We are told that we are commissioned sales reps but, in reality, we are capped based on a deemed value of the area in which we sell. For the most part, we are paid a percentage of our sales until we get close to whatever pre-determined value (salary) was set for the year. We then have our commissions cut, or our area decreased (or both). I recently found that my commission has been altered at least once since the last time my GM discussed any such cuts. This information is not easy to find as my company does not provide us with commission reports or have us sign anything that states what our commission is. I have complained for years that, after each discussion about altering our commission, we should be provided with a paper that is signed by both the salesperson and the GM, but this has never happened. I now have proof that alterations happened without my knowledge and that, although they claim we are commissioned, that we actually are not. Any suggestions on how to handle this situation without losing my job? Also, any information on the legalities of the way they are doing business? [link] [comments] |
Break into Saas out of college? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 06:10 PM PDT What's the best way to break in? I am in the Midwest it would be willing to relocated. My sales experience is limited mostly to b2c but I am wanting to go to b2b. [link] [comments] |
