Disclosing someone's information as part of an investment thesis Posted: 01 Aug 2018 02:36 AM PDT Hi guys. I'm working on an investment thesis for work (sell-side). Once published my case will go to most of the street. There's a retail shareholder owning 3% of the company I'm looking at. I have found some information on him through his network of companies, doing some googling, and connecting the dots. I think I have a nice handle on who he is and his intentions. I have not found the means to reach out to this person yet. I respect other people's privacy; and this person seems to care a lot about it. He's a high network individual with ties to a media company and has avoided the public eye for most of his life. But now he is also an important part of the thesis. The note needs to be published soon (1-2 days) as it needs to be timely. I am thorn between disclosing what I know (for a better research piece) and writing a more "vanilla" piece. Alternatively I could try to reach out to that person, but I doubt he will be talkative. I'm not sure of the best course of action:
Any insights appreciated. I think it's quite a conundrum and I was wondering if any of you have been in a similar situation before. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |

Act like a investigative reporter to research a stock Posted: 31 Jul 2018 05:48 AM PDT Often times, we are told to think like a investigative reporter while researching the stock or the company of interest. Although it seems pretty interesting at the onset but it can be quiet overwhelming once you start your due diligence. I was hoping to start a discussion thread where fellow redditors who can share the resources one use to extract information. Idea is to create a repository which we can share so that all of us can benefit from. It can include anything from land values / city tax assessment's where property / land is located , Capital equipment's, commercial contracts, pricing of input materials, background information on management, any association of shell companies etc. [link] [comments] |
