Mission ready solutions MRS: A monster in the making Posted: 08 Aug 2018 07:50 AM PDT Currently halted: So they just merged with unifire that has access to 900 million dollars worth of government contracts. They are closing and renegotiating a 400 million dollar deal with a foreign military. They have the amber project that is supposed to dwarf both of these deals. They have a management team filled with heavy weights that boast guys like JOe Reid and police commissioner Bill Bratton. Their products are a head of their time. And they are halted at the moment waiting to close the merger with unifire. Trading at .215 pre halt is a steal right now. Their float is tiny, their market cap is ridiculously low. Once this unhalts I can see it getting to the dollar mark in a month or so. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2018 09:33 AM PDT Hey Guys Yesterday I bought Options for the first time. I got lucky and snap shares dropped after earnings... But I am down 25% on my put option. This was my Put hx2n39 Can some1 explain me why i lost? [link] [comments] |
BABA: Is there a reason it hasn't bounced back yet? Posted: 08 Aug 2018 08:31 AM PDT Solid metrics, great growth, all good news yet the stock still hasn't recovered from a fucking tweet by our idiot president. Feeling pretty burned right now. [link] [comments] |
Is it worth to invest in small contributions? Posted: 08 Aug 2018 08:38 AM PDT Some context, I'm already on pace to max my IRA. And my budget allows for me to contribute $150 biweekly for additional investments. I'm interested in investing in stocks rather than funds, but is $300 monthly really worth anything. What type of strategy would you go for. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2018 01:11 PM PDT I was wondering if there is any Casinos and Gambling companies in $VOO ETF or not? And if yes, what are they and how much % does it make of holdings. I couldn't find an answer online. [link] [comments] |
Vendor that summarizes earnings call transcripts Posted: 08 Aug 2018 01:39 PM PDT Hi all - given it's earnings season... I was just wondering if anyone knew of any companies that summarize earnings call transcripts in its entirety? I receive sell-side analyst reports but those usually touch upon the key topics in an earnings call, not the entire transcript itself. Thanks again and any color would be appreciated! SNAP, DBX, SHOP, IQ, SQ, AMD, TWTR, MDB, DIS, or AVTI? Posted: 08 Aug 2018 08:38 AM PDT I'm adding $1800 to my portfolio and I'm deciding which stocks I should buy. I'm thinking I'll split the $1800 between two stocks, but it might be smarter to own just 1 stock since it's not a large sum of money. For reference, I already own 8 other stocks spread across $7500. Overall, I'm planning to just keep adding to my portfolio over the next 50 years and don't plan on selling anything (even if it goes up 500%) unless something major changes within the companies I invest in. That said, I am willing to take larger risks at this stage in my life for larger potential rewards. Right now, I'm siding towards splitting between AMD and SQ 50-50 but would love to hear other people's thoughts. When I graduate, I will be investing more into ETFs as well once I have a consistent income. Any thoughts about the above stocks in the short term or long term and why? What would be the best decisions I could make to maximize the potential reward without having an overwhelming amount of risk? [link] [comments] |
Buying SNAP puts now after IV crush? Posted: 08 Aug 2018 11:24 AM PDT Since Snap hasnt fallen so much yet, and still had a fairly rough earnings call, would buying puts now after the IV crush be a smart play? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2018 11:01 AM PDT I'm a previous SBUX employee. I participated in a stock purchase program, 10% of my paycheck to get a 5% discount in stock. I figured at the very least it was like a forced savings, which it has ended up being, I have just under 2k in stock, which is money I'm sure I would have spent/put into my IRA and not had liquid if I'd had it in my bank accounts. I need to sell it now that I just quit, and have a use for the money, but man the stock is scary. Yesterday I finally gave up and set a "sell all" once the price reaches 52.10. Then I'd only lose a bit of money, and now the stock is just plummeting, and I can't tell if it'll recover just enough for me to get out, or if I should just leave now. Fidelity says my cost per share is 53.06, I have 37 shares. I have no clue if that number is before or after the 5% discount, I'm assuming it's before, which would mean my *actual* cost per share is 50.407. This is the only stock I have in a specific company, the rest of my savings is in a Wealthfront IRA. My 401k with SBUX (which I'll roll over into my IRA), was all target funds. I just want to get rid of it, but wanted some advice. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Aug 2018 10:00 AM PDT Elon saying he plans to take tesla private at $420 a share? How does this process work with such an out of the blue announcement and does it indicate positive or negative news for the stock? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2018 09:26 AM PDT I have been looking around for a new investment for a while and i think i have finally landed on it. I have seen $DIS securing their dominace in their market and they always seem to steadily grow. $NVDA seems to keep growing even with its drastic reaction to market news. I have been thinking of swapping $NVDA with $AMD. Opinions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2018 01:59 PM PDT Bought just shy of 1000 shares in CASM a couple days ago. It hasnt had any red days since. Is it sustainable in its growth? With my luck it should have immediately tanked as soon as I bought, but it didn't, and now I'm nervous as hell. It's up 125% for the last 3 months, and up 18% for the past week. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2018 01:49 PM PDT Can anyone give me a good pitch on Netflix and whether or not that can up in user growth without market saturation? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2018 01:40 PM PDT I've read a lot of positive news on this company recently, and see this as a bet on the growth of the marijuana industry in general, but they are down over 50% since their high in January and 33% since June. Any new thoughts about these guys? I'm thinking about doubling down or holding. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2018 01:09 PM PDT I am currently a 21 year old college student. I make roughly 2k a year working at a running store. I have invested in stocks for a year and turned 2500 into 3200. Do I need to pay taxes on this? I read somewhere that I don't because my income is below a certain threshold.. I know capital gains rates and all that but for whatever reason the articles I read seem to imply they don't apply to me... can someone help explain? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2018 12:42 PM PDT Hi. What are your thoughts about LASR? I bought few stocks at $30.51. I was not planning to hold it long term. As of today all I see is red. Will it fly up tomorrow or is it better to sell it before todays earning? [link] [comments] |

Does it make sense to take a dip in WB? We definitely are looking...our favorite stocks are the China social media ADRs. What does the community think? Very curious to hear the bear case for $WB. [link] [comments] |

Why do going private companies deserve premium? Posted: 08 Aug 2018 06:21 AM PDT Why does Elon musk think Tesla deserves a 20% premium to the current stock price for going private? What makes a private company for valuable? It's less liquid now. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2018 04:46 AM PDT completely new to trading and I am using a demo account atm. Ryanair employees in Germany are having a strike on Friday. would you sell stock to make a profit off of that? Edit: not an actual air strike. typo [link] [comments] |
Vanguard ETFs and Portfolio Diversity Posted: 08 Aug 2018 12:59 AM PDT I'm meaning to buy many shares (about 10k worth) of a few Vanguard ETFs. Instead of opening an account with Vanguard, I'm thinking of just doing it on RH since I'm already on it. But if I do, given the amount I want to buy, more than 50% of my portfolio will be ETFs. Because it's recommended to have no more than 20% on a single stock, should ETFs also follow this suggestion? Also, should I just sign up with Vanguard instead? Is anyone on both? It's for a short term investment. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2018 06:11 AM PDT I have calculated beta to be negative from my monthly returns. This means my Treynor ratio is negative. Should I use the absolute value of Treynor or continue to use the negative value? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Disney Misses Expectations, Mixed Results Posted: 07 Aug 2018 02:48 PM PDT Hey guys, thought we could use this post to discuss Disney's recent earnings report. They appear to have missed expectations slightly and the results were fairly mixed. However their studio side (such as the movies) did extremely well which many feel is critical for their long term outlook. Parks looked pretty good too and ESPN didn't totally ruin things for once it seemed despite not being great either. Guidance seemed to be fairly optimistic in their report but will have to wait to hear more. Stock is down slightly at the moment. As someone who considered buying some shares the past couple months but ultimately backed out, I'm curious how you guys feel about their most recent report as I know it was very much anticipated.
