FAR in 2 days - need last minute tips please Posted: 01 Apr 2018 07:20 PM PDT I'm taking FAR in 2 days. This is my first exam and my Becker mock scores were 65% and 74%. Any last minute tips/motivation would be greatly appreciated!! [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Apr 2018 04:16 PM PDT I am scheduled to sit for REG tomorrow. I feel unprepared and am getting about 50% on all the practice test and finding I don't know a lot of the required information. I'm using Becker. Before you passed did you feel prepared and knowledgeable? [link] [comments]
How are the actual AUD MCQs compared to Becker's? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:10 PM PDT I've only taken REG so far and REG's MCQs were way easier than the ones in Becker. I'm cramming AUD right now and it's basically every other question I'm stuck between 2 answers. Trending 86% on progress tests, got a 66 and an 72 (even with Becker marking correct answers on sims incorrect, such as me putting 44.00% and it being wrong when the answer is 44% when it said "round to 2 decimals". Apparently 44.00% =/= 44%) on the mocks. Not sure how to feel about it since AUD is the most confusing accounting subject there is to me. REG felt LEAGUES easier than AUD material does to me currently and I've put in almost twice the amount of hours for AUD than REG. Anything I should know for the exam as well? Thanks, all! Non US-Resident looking to take the CPA Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:59 PM PDT Just finished college last year with a non-accounting degree (Economics) at a US college. After a long and fruitless job search in the States, I came back to my home country in Asia where I landed an associate job at a big 4 firm where a CPA isnt required unless you're entering at the senior associate level. Been through one busy season and am looking to take the CPA exam in the US and (hopefully) land a job at the same big 4 firm in the states. Anyone have experience taking the CPA as a non-resident? What programs would be recommended I take, especially since i didnt major in accounting as an undergrad? [link] [comments]
Why is it so hard to get a job in one of the big four after having worked accounting for four years? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 01:55 PM PDT For varied reasons I took a job in an accounting not in the big four after graduating, and I have held my CPA since a year after graduating. So, four years working, three years with CPA, working hard. I applied to around 700 positions in the big four, I got ten interviews, and I didn't get hired. However, I know that big four recruiters at the college my cousin goes to get undergrads right out of graduation. So, what is going on? Am I missing something? What is happening? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:33 PM PDT Taking BEC in 6 days and was wondering if anyone has any advice for the study week leading up to the exam. I feel pretty decent with everything up to this point other than the cost stuff and some financial management so I figured I'd hammer those heavily. Just a little nervous for the sims and written communication parts since I don't really know what topics will be thrown my way. Any particular areas that usually end up showing up a lot? Appreciate any advice! [link] [comments]
Are there internships in the fall and spring? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 10:05 PM PDT Are accounting internships only in the summer or are there internships for the fall and spring as well? [link] [comments]
Salary research tools other than Glassdoor? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 09:45 PM PDT Glassdoor is helpful but only gives a range, while I hope there's a more exact resource given the rigidity of B4 salaries. Alternatively, if anyone wants to tell me what B4 firms in Los Angeles are paying first-year associates currently that'd be cool too. [link] [comments]
Are there CPA firms that do tuition reimbursement? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 03:25 PM PDT Just curious. I'm about to finish my bachelors and go straight into my masters. I plan on being done next May and doing my CPA exam in the summer. I'm going to have a pretty good amount of debt due to lack of scholarships. Are there firms that reimburse tuition? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 08:02 PM PDT I'm in Intermediate II this semester and we're taking a test pretty soon on long-term liabilities, i.e. bonds and long-term notes. My professor warned the whole class that this would be the hardest chapter of the semester but honestly I haven't found it to be too terrible. I just got a 100% on the wiley homework so that's nice. I'm thinking if this is supposedly the hardest material and I'm not struggling with it then I should feel good about majoring in accounting, but I want you guys' opinion. What was the thing you hated most/had the roughest time with in intermediate financial accounting when you were in undergrad? [link] [comments]
[US] Assignment to create Income Statement and Balance Sheet. Where did I go wrong? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 07:24 PM PDT Not sure why my adjusted trial balance isn't balancing. I'm assuming something that's wrong in the adjusted trial balance is why my balance sheet is also not balancing. Here is the assignment, trial balance, adjusted trial balance, income statement and balance sheet: https://imgur.com/a/eDbtL. Any help would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]
Is your college GPA important when applying for a firm? Posted: 01 Apr 2018 07:02 PM PDT I'd just like to ask since I'm graduating from my degree, and I'm about to start getting my license. [link] [comments]
Beginning a career in accounting as an adult. Need advice. Posted: 01 Apr 2018 12:54 PM PDT Hello r/accounting. First post on reddit, long time lurker. Background: I received my BBA in accounting in 2010. I never found a job after college and instead got sucked into retail management. I've recently regretted my decision and want a career change. I've have some network connections that can get me entry level accounting positions. I'm not too worried about getting a job. I've currently been refreshing using accountingcoach.com. My questions are: Is accountingcoach.com a good refresher? Are there any other good refresher sources out there? I do plan to take the CPA exam and use the Becker review material. I'm a good test taker and decent studier. It has been 8 years since I've looked at accounting material. In college I never found accounting overwhelmingly hard and understood mostly everything... a big reason I'm going back. Will I realistically be able to pass? Will the Becker material be sufficient to bring my knowledge back? Any other tips advice would be appreciated! Thanks! [link] [comments] |
