Pay attention to the 10 year yield Posted: 28 Mar 2018 07:15 AM PDT Very simple point but it has been a great guide to where stocks are going lately. Yesterday bonds were getting a bid long before stocks sold off, giving you a warning. (Note bond yields go down when people buy them, it's counter intuitive). So bond yields up, stocks will likely go up, bond yields down stocks will go down. This isn't the only thing to watch but an important indicator when trying to decide what's going on in the markets. Good luck to everyone out there. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Mar 2018 09:56 AM PDT Elon stated "I am increasingly concerned about SpaceX going public before the Mars transport system is in place. Creating the technology needed to establish life on Mars is and always has been the fundamental goal of SpaceX. If being a public company diminishes that likelihood, then we should not do so until Mars is secure. " It's true, look at us we are all bashing the future. Tesla has solved a lot of problems, but is now hated, and ask for what? Becuase some hedge funds pulled out and are manipulating the price painting a bad picture on TSLA. Then later buy it back, and paint a fucking Bob Ross landscape of the most beautiful company to invest in. So it's not fuck TSLA it's fuck the Hedge funds. [link] [comments] |
I keep seeing people mention stocks at "discounts" due to recent drops... Posted: 28 Mar 2018 10:48 AM PDT ...but what I don't see are people factoring in that the market as a whole has been down this past week AND the last time the stock was at the current price. If it was within the last couple of months, odds are that it's a mere correction, and by no means is the stock on a "sale". You must not view stock prices within the context of this past week, but rather 3-6 months. If there is a healthy deviation from where it was 3 months ago from today then I would consider evaluating, but if the stock has been on a recent tear... cough SQ cough then the recent drop is just an inevitable correction to its normal price. To which implies, there is still not a Margin of Safety. [link] [comments] |
Mea culpa: I have been making emotional trades Posted: 28 Mar 2018 08:48 AM PDT Not gonna go into details of them all, but the most recent one is buy FB at 161. I am sure it will come back up there eventually, but that was clearly not the bottom. It is not that I lack knowledge - but I seem to forget parts of what I know when I buy or sell. Trading is fun as shit (until you lose money) and you create an illusion of busyness for yourself, a powerful drug for anyone who has a bit of ambition for their lives. Just writing this out as a public confession so that I get flagellated and remember in the future. [link] [comments] |
What is a good indicator to get back into the market? Posted: 28 Mar 2018 06:37 AM PDT I moved to cash mid March and have been watching on the side lines trying to decide when normality will return. I have made a rule to wait until the markets (NASDAQ100/S&P) do not move more than 1.5 percent over a single session for 4-5 consecutive trading sessions and so far that has been reset every day. I am not sure what to really look for, my best guess is riding this volatility into earnings season and buy back in when we start to have actual numbers and data and not just rumours and speculation driving markets. Does anyone have advice or their 2 cents? [link] [comments] |

Anyone else loading up on SHOP? Posted: 28 Mar 2018 07:36 AM PDT Im personally waiting for it to go below $120. I'm in it for the long run because I love the sector they are in! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Mar 2018 01:22 PM PDT I'm a pretty big noob in investing, but as I was looking at the market earlier today I noticed Disney below $100.00 a share when I remember them being much higher just months ago. I feel they should probably be much higher, what with Black Panther, the new stuff at the parks, and the announcement of more live action films. So, in your opinion, are they on sale or are they going down for another reason? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Mar 2018 07:58 AM PDT Made a horrible mistake, bought in at 325, its trading around 255 now. Time to cut my loses? [link] [comments] |
Hold on people and look for value! Posted: 28 Mar 2018 10:56 AM PDT Think about the long term, don't tru tip time the market and look for values. I'm down about 4% today. I'm done looking at the market. I'm going to eat my tacos and bemoan the fact I can't buy anything at the moment. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Mar 2018 02:09 PM PDT Does anyone know why the lithium mining sector has taken a tumble over the last few months? A good example of this is Albermarle (ALB) [link] [comments] |

80% of my port is now in MU, am I in trouble or sitting on a gold mine? Posted: 27 Mar 2018 08:42 PM PDT I've been consistently buying MU since it's 10% drop last week after it's ER. It's the best discount I've found on the market right now. Is anybody else jumping on this rocket before it takes liftoff? - open to bearish opinions please! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Mar 2018 10:00 AM PDT It's a 15 year old company but went public on September 28th, 2017. I wouldn't call it a start up as it has an established place in the market. An analyst recently called it's "ROKU channel" a billion dollar idea. In the current bear market it could be an amazing buy. If I had the capital I would be keeping an eye on this one. Thoughts? Posted: 28 Mar 2018 09:05 AM PDT Does the wash rule only apply to the cost basis? For example if i bought 10 shares at 100, another 10 at 200, but then sold my shares I bought at 200 at a loss, and then bought more shares at 150, would the wash rule apply? Sorry if this is confusing [link] [comments] |
More Pain Could Be Coming for Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google Posted: 28 Mar 2018 02:33 PM PDT |
Posted: 28 Mar 2018 02:19 PM PDT I'm at nearly a 17% loss with AMD, and frankly my gut is telling me to "HOLD" every time AMD took a loss in the past and I didn't hold, it rocketed up later and I felt stupid. Same with NVIDIA. The difference here being , I'm at a net decline of about 700 dollars rather than about 100. And the losses seem to be consistent and not showing improvement. What's going on with AMD? Do people really think the cryptocurrency bust is going to affect them THAT much???? [link] [comments] |
Enlighten me about this $AMZN carnage Posted: 28 Mar 2018 10:22 AM PDT Help me understand this in the big picture: Does screwing up $AMZN alone help the country's financial woes? How exactly? Because right now, all I'm seeing is negative impact to people's 401 or those who are invested long and short. So if there is really an issue with $AMZN's taxes, you're fixing it, and then WHAT? Problem solved? Right now I think this is complete BS. Why worry about $AMZN when it's benefiting a lot of people? I don't want to believe this. I'm hoping that this is false news [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Mar 2018 02:02 PM PDT I bought this stock after Oppenheimer upgraded it to a price target of $16. My research suggests that phase 2 results for their medicine emricasan can be a game changer expected in Q2 this year. Does anyone know why this is tanking more than market? [link] [comments] |
US & South Korea reach new trade pact Posted: 28 Mar 2018 05:06 AM PDT Hopefully an indicator to be a good day for the market, what deals are you looking to buy early today? Everything seems like a deal rn, what do you guys think? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Mar 2018 11:25 PM PDT I remember in my early days of trading I often wondered if I can sell a service that alerts investors to what stock I purchased. If only they did the opposite, they certainly would make money quickly. Another service I felt I can sell, is getting paid to sell my shares in a given stock. I had enough documented proof to show, that the minute I sell my shares, the stock rises. The obvious reason why it feels like the minute we buy a stock it goes down, is simply because we watch it more. In many cases the moves the stock is making are similar to the moves they made before you purchased, however, now that you are invested in it, you notice it more. When we get out of a stock we watch is less, so there is a chance that the next time we notice a move it will be a big jump (up or down) but in reality it was a bunch of small jumps that just appear big because you didn't check it so often. The lesson is that if you did your homework and purchased a stock for the long term or semi long term, sometimes it's best to not check on it too often. The sometimes irrational emotional side that is part of us humans, causes us to invest in a way that is not always beneficial to our financial stability. [link] [comments] |
[Discussion] What are some stocks that would make good shorts right now? Posted: 28 Mar 2018 01:30 PM PDT I decided the long strategy isn't working so well in this sideways market, so might as well start finding short ideas. NFLX would have been a great short a few weeks ago because it climbed up way too fast, and with Disney planning to move into streaming, NFLX's valuation just didn't make sense. Anyways, let's hear your short ideas. [link] [comments] |
